I was due to return the truck after the location closed. Nobody at the location explained that I had to check in via my phone and then I was charged $20 because they said they had to perform the check in..

The truck was good. The location was ok. I did not get the items that I needed for my move and paid for. I paid for 2 utility dollies, 2 furniture dollies and an appliance dolly. None of those things were in the vehicle. The business associated with the rental was closed so there was no way to get the items. I called uhaul immediately and explained the situation and they were absolutely no help. The lady who answered the phone suggested that I drive to another uhaul location and Pay to rent the items there. My rental was per mile so that would cost me even more money. I would never rent by mobile device again. There is no accountability if the rental isn't prepared as it should be.

When I booked the reservation I specifically wanted my pickup to be at Edison Automotive on Route 1 Edison, when I arrived there the trailer was not at that site. I then went further south on Route 1 to the U-Haul location, no trailer there either. The woman that worked at that location was very helpful and located my trailer at the Edison location on Stelton Road where I then had to drive there to pick it up. Once I got there the woman in the office was very nice and helpful but when I went outside to hook up the trailer, it had no landing gear so they picked it up with a forklift to attach it to my hitch. That wasn't the problem, when I returned that evening with the trailer I struggled trying to get it off my bumper because it didn't have a landing gear to raise it up. The Stelton Road location was great but the equipment wasn't the best and as I mentioned the running around that I got when I booked it was a big waste of my time.

Im sorry to say This location charged me for fuel surcharge when i brought the vehicle with the same fuel as i was Given. The reply from the salesperson was that the person who checked it didnt know how to read the guage correctly. Then they charge me an extra day when i brought the vehicle that very same night. They rented the vehicle the folliwing day? They couldnt tell that it was with another customer. So these actions have cost me well over the rental agreement. I will say that this experience has now removed myself from using your services in the future. Signing off Not a Happy Customer!

The only thing that prevented this rating from a 5-star. I was a little late at returning the cargo van. (picked up a motorcycle from CT) There was heavy traffic near NY Washington bridge which delayed my return. When I check my email later, I saw an email that says other people are waiting for the van (auto-generated, w/ president of u-haul's name on the email). I know this is false because the other vans were still in the parking lot when I got back ... there is literally NO ONE waiting to use this van. Also, the costs are the same whether I return the van in my original 5 hours or if I kept it for the entire day ... so I find that this email comes off as impersonal and unnecessary. I did get a call from the person that I picked up the rental van from, which is the proper way to inquire about the van status. Otherwise this has been a good rental experience.

Absolute worst experience renting anything, the keys were not in a location that were supposed to be, I spent over an hour trying to get in touch with someone because the location was closed, missed dinner with my family, and the store from which I need to pick things up close, I am furious and extraordinarily disappointed

I was not informed about an after hours fee. The truck was due at 9pm. I returned it early around 7pm and I was charged extra money.

Everything was great, I told them I would be returning the trailer around 7:30 pm and I dropped it off around 9 pm. No one mentioned a $20 fee for "after hours returns". Its not a big deal, but it was surprising to see the charge the next day. I was told that as long as it was there before the next morning I would only be charged for 1 day of rental.

The truck had a check-engine light illuminated when I picked it up. When I returned it, the clerk would not check me in, saying someone else would do it later and send me a receipt. I never received the receipt, and it looks like I got overcharged.

I was not explained the mileage very well. I thought you get a few free miles with your rental and afterwards you start getting charged after that. Not the case. Things should be explained better about what you are getting yourself into.
