It took a few minutes to get someone at the front counter in the morning and the truck had seen better days (almost 110k hard miles. The steering alignment was out such that straight was about 15 degrees to the left). Otherwise the experience was excellent. They got me a truck quickly without a reservation and got it checked back in promptly when I returned at the price I was quoted.

A customer should not have to immediately put gas in truck after renting. That is ridiculous. The gas tank should have at least been rented with a half tank. My truck had a quarter of gas, which meant I had to immediately fuel the truck within minutes after renting.

The overall experience was great. No issues with the rental even though I had to change my pick-up time twice. They even upgraded me to a 15' truck from a 10' because the customer that had the 10' didn't return it in time. The only issue I has was that the steering was pretty loose on the truck I used and it made driving on the highway a little sketchy as I began to drift a little from side to side once in a while. It would also throttle a little as I sat idle at a light. It might need a bit of a tune-up.

I was originally sent to the Plymouth rd location in Livonia. It was a hot mess. Went to Plymouth Ann Arbor Rd location and as usual they were great.

Most of the unloading and loading of the truck was after dark, it would have been cheaper on me for the light inside back of truck to have worked. So I had to keep the truck an additional day just to have daylight!

I originally wanted a 17' truck but was told I would have drive out of my way to get one. I was forced to select a smaller truck instead of this location figuring out to have one available. I have plenty of advanced warning and was disappointed it couldn't be worked out.

Fender on tow dolly was broken loose at rear. Simple fix with some zip ties would have helped. I had no issues and was happy to be able to rent from my local location.

I was told no refund would be made for unused days with the trailer. I was told that’s never a possibility. The staff confirmed the trailer was not hooked up properly by the garage location. Over the phone I was told a hitch ball could be purchased for $5-10 but upon arrival I was told it would $37 to purchase the only option they provided. Also $14.99 per day for a trailer rented for 3 days never adds up to $91.16 without scamming involved. I was told I wasn’t even charged for an extra two days. And altogether none of the math adds up. I rented the trailer about 1pm on Saturday. Had it all day and night Sunday, and brought it back Monday before 5pm. I will never rent anything from Uhaul again after this experience. I have been scammed and lied to left and right. I don’t even think it’s the employees but rather the company’s lack of training and encouragement to upsell and deceive customers. I have a lot of trailer and moving needs coming up but I will be finding any company but uhaul for my rental needs. This was not convenient or easy. Run don’t walk away from this company! I feel sorry for their employees.

The van had a very strong smell of cat urine. I left the windows wide open and the air conditioning on for my entire trip, but the smell didn't get any better.

I received a confirmed reservation with a rate of $19.95 and .29/mile but when I went to pick up the van the price changed to $79. I was overcharged by $10.77 overall including taxes. I only went from Plymouth, MI to East Lansin, MI with round trip mileage of 153 miles. In addition, the fuel tank gauge was also a problem in that we ended up putting more gas than needed by $15. I will be reporting U-haul to the BBB for deceptive pricing practice.

It was so slow to rent the vehicle. We probably waited 30 minutes. Very slow when we picked it up. Probably waited another 30 minutes. Also, we were given the option for a dolly and blankets for $10, but she told us they were probably already in the vehicle. When we went to the vehicle, they were not there. Then we were not given the $10 option anymore. We had to pay $12. Either know before you pass the deal, or check the truck before continuing with the rental. Very nice and friendly, though.

I'm very unhappy with my Uhaul experience. I planned to move on Saturday, so I made a reservation on Thursday that I will pick up a 15' truck on Saturday in Inkster, MI. On Friday, I received an email from Uhaul that I was guaranteed to have a 17' truck on Saturday at Inkster location, I reserved a 15' truck but they will give me a 17' one, that's fine. However, when I went to the Inkster Uhaul center, the staff there told me I was reschedule to the Detroit Uhaul location, which is 20 miles away from me. Since uhaul charges $1 for each mile, that means another 40 dollars plus gas plus extra one hour!! What was worse, I was not fully informed the relocation before I picked up the truck, no emails, no phone calls, only one voice mail!!! The Inkster staff told me not worry, I was guaranteed to have a truck today. Actually, that was not what "guarantee" means!! Afterwards, I called the 800 Uhual number and tried to change a location nearby, I waited on the phone for over 30 minutes, nobody picked up the phone!!! After two or three times attempt, I gave up calling the 800 number but called the Detroit uhual store. The staff was very nice, they helped me transfer the line and eventually I was helped. I was rescheduled to the Plymouth super center. The tragedy was not over, after arriving at the Plymouth store, the staff could not find the key! Half an hour late, she finally found the key in truck. I checked the gas level, it was half an tank, but the paper work indicated that the truck had one half and a quarter tank. She agreed on the actual gas level and told me I only needed to refill the gas to where it was. When I returned, I put gas to the half, but I was still charged for the gas!!! It was my worst experience, horrible management, terrible 800 number, and every unprofessional staff!!!
