This has nothing to do with where i rented the truck from... but i will never book a truck online ever again. I ended up with three..... thats THREE bookings for a truck. The last voice mail i got said "the two trucks i reserved were ready"..... and i didnt reserve two trucks!!!! Next time i need a uhaul... ill walk in.

There was no record of my booking when I arrived, I did have the booking # and confirmation email. I had to wait while the associate at the counter booked a new rental for me. The rental I had booked was a 10' truck however there was no such vehicle. I was forced to upgrade to a 15' truck, that was much bigger than required; which also increased the rental. Luckily this 15' truck was the result of a "No Show" that morning that I was able to take.

The Uhaul app was a pain b/c you didn't know about having to take multiple pics. A disclaimer at the beginning of the return process would be helpful, so you don't have to go back and unlock the truck multiple times for pics.

The lady that was working inside was not very friendly. When I went in to retrieve the keys to the vehicle she said that I was not supposed to come in due to covid. She said we are not doing that because of the virus. The app should have given you the location of the keys. Mind you I was wearing a mask and gloves when I entered and stayed about 10 feet from the desk. I explained that the app did not tell me and went outside. She was a little snippy about it and I thought she could have been a little more helpful. As it was I figured it out on my own.

I had made the reservation at this location the week before and specifically asked would the truck be picked up at this location and was told yes. I received a confirmation email with the reservation info for the 15 ft. truck. When I went to pick up the truck on Saturday Jan 11 the truck was not there and there was no reservation on there system. While I was standing there I checked my email and there was an old email stating that the reservation pickup location was changed to Lawrence MA. I do not make a habit of checking my email every day. ( UHaul should of called me to tell me the location was changed not just email.) I was on a schedule with other people involved. They did have a 10 ft truck at the Salem NH site so I rented that one and called Lawrence to cancel the 15 ft. When I made the reservation I thought I was making it with a Uhaul representation come to find out the person at Burlington stated that Uhaul can do what they want and that they had no control. This is not a good customer relationship. The customer is the one that ends up with the problem. You should re-evaluate your procedures to better support your customers. I word in retail for many years and the customer is your number one responsibility if you want to retain them. I will rethink what I would do in the future when renting from uhaul.
I initially had trouble booking the pickup with the computer system, it kept rejecting the five hours that I needed to rent the truck. Eventually the system reset after 30 minutes of Pauline trying to get it to accept her entries. Also couldn't get the gas cap off when I went to refill the truck on return.
The only issue I had was with the return process. It was never explained to me by the staff at Burlington self storage what would need to be done upon returning the vehicle. Never explained that if returning after closing that I would need to download an app, take pictures of the odometer, interior, exterior etc.. This was a cumbersome process and given that it was a cold dark night not a particularly enjoyable process. I assumed that all I would have to do was drop off the key in the return box which was in fact the only thing relayed to me by the staff person. I figured they already knew the mileage when picked up and then would read the mileage at drop off and charge me accordingly. I understand the need for the app and the process of return to protect both uhaul and the customer it just that it should have been explained at the outset that I could have been ready for it at dropoff and not have to read the process on the underside of the drop off box. Now that I know the process it is more convenient than having to make it back to the site for drop off before closing
Mobile check in does not work. Sat in the cold for 30 minutes until the location opened because I was unable to complete the process on my phone. Never again!
Vehicle was clean, but cockpit (dash, cup holders, compartments, etc.) needed to be wiped down.
The place I got the truck from was the only good experience I had with uhaul I would not recommend uhaul to an enemy I feel I was over charged and scammed
This first truck we were given we drove it for 5 miles and the check engine light came on. We were told it was the fuel cap. Fuel cap was tight and threaded on correctly. Returned the truck and asked for another as there also was a ticking sound in the engine. Burlington called U-Haul and reported this. We took another vehicle and used it for storage while the site was prepared for off-loading. Only went 48 miles in total, good experience. Rented from Burlington before and will do so again. Rates are reasonable compared to Penske.
