I tried to get a truck one way for a month. I moved from Alameda to Fairfield, ca. I would had to pick up a truck in Millbrae from Alameda to use a one way truck. Finally on my last attempt a customer service rep in Oakland told me I needed a round trip truck. I had to rent a truck in Vallejo drive it to Alameda to go to Vacaville and return to Vallejo. All the one way trucks were going out of state and they do not have enough trucks fo customers. I should had been told from the beginning about the problem with a one way truck. I was stress out about my getting a truck to move and this was not fair. The person in Vallejo was so helpful.

I am glad uhaul was able to find me a 15’ as reserved on my original reservation. They had directed me a location hours away and changed to a 20’ truck without letting me know in my moving date.

They screwed up and reserved a truck for me for in-town instead of one way. Had me calling uhaul and stressing out on the day of the move, as well as wasting time. They eventually fixed it hours later without even telling me until I arrived to pick it up. Twice they didn't call me back. The truck hadn't been swept out, so I had to. They were polite and trying to be helpful, so good customer service, but lousy at the process.

The person in charge over the weekend was no so accommodating. Unsolicited advise, do not leave anyone in the office who are not capable of answering inquiries. Thank you.

Service was great.

I had to travel 30 miles round trip and pay 6 dollar bridge toll pick up at this located instead of intial pickup location. My experience would have been better if I could have picked up at the initial location.

I was not very happy with the run around I received from the U-Haul web site, the app, and the place in El Sobrante where I had my reservation. I had confirmation email with the registration #. When I arrived in El Sobrante, they said I didn't have a reservation with them and they didn't have any rentals. I showed him my email and asked him to please look my reservation #, which he finally did. He said it was for Vallejo, but he didn't know the address or phone #. My friend knew where a U-Haul was in Vallejo and drove by then called to say they had lots of vans. So I drove there. Waited in line for 20 minutes as they were very busy. And no surprise, my reservation wasn't with them and all theirs vans were reserved. But he very nicely gave me the address and confirmed with them that my van was still available as I was now 45 minutes late for my reservation. He gave me the address for this place and directions. He said he wished he could help me, he was very nice. I drove to my third U-Haul place for the morning and the van was ready. The two people were very nice and helpful, made the check in process very easy. After I had signed the form, had the keys in hand, door open, with the van in the drive ready for me - my phone rings. It's the U-Haul in El Sobrante telling me my van is ready now. Seriously? I told her she was too late, I already had my rental van. When I returned, the two employees were still just as nice as could be - met me with smiles and asked how everything went with what I was moving. Another customer who couldn't remember what name her reservation was under (what?) was very irate and complaining. The gentleman working there said to me, if any one should be complaining, it should be me with all that U-Haul put me through, but that I still had a smile on my face. He thanked me. I told him that all my problems were caused by the web site - not them, so why should be hateful with them. End of story. U-Haul, you need a serious improvement with your web site. I used it just a year ago in Texas with no problems at all. So different with this rental. Need improvement or I will look else where and recommend friends do the same.

I may have hit this location on a bad day, but the pickup experience for my cargo van was not good. The employee was very friendly and did not pressure me to make any choices one way or another, but I was alarmed by the fact that the first van I was assigned had a completely flat tire, the second van had a shattered right side mirror, and the third van that I eventually took had a very low tire that presented a dashboard alert light within 15 minutes of driving off the lot. I put in 60 PSI to bring it back up to the 80 specified for that tire from the 20 I left the lot with. I was told to park the van on the street and leave the key in the dropbox when I returned at the specified time, but the dropbox was broken and completely unsecure - the lock appears to have been forced until it snapped off, so the whole box needs to be replaced. Calling the business yielded no answer (it was 6pm on Sunday, understandable), so I didn't really have a choice but to leave the key in the broken box, close it and document what i had done with photos. Really not my favorite day, considering I was watching the tire pressure the entire trip and then waiting for my receipt afterwards to confirm that the van had not been stolen after I left it. While the place seems to operate in good faith with good intentions, I don't want to have to worry about unmaintained equipment or theft liability like that again. Glad it all worked out.
