One of the fastest growing cities in the United States, Seattle is home to more than 630,000 residents and growing each year. Due to the city's tremendous growth, we have ranked Seattle as the #6 Top Growth City in the U.S. in 2013 on our annual migration trends report. Reserve a one-way truck rental to Seattle today!

Helpful Tips for Moving to and Living in Seattle

We have 15 truck rental locations within the Seattle city limits, and we want to help make your move go as smooth as possible. Here are some tips that may help you when moving to the ‘Emerald City’.

  • Study the map – Parts of the Seattle can be difficult to navigate if you are not used to the daily grind. If you are traveling to the west side, taking the Spokane Street Bridge is one of the only ways to get there. You may get stuck in traffic as the Spokane Street Bridge is a swing bridge that opens for large boats and vessels to pass through, stopping vehicles from crossing multiple times per day.
  • Umbrella or not? – Owning an umbrella for those sudden down pours is a good thing, however most Seattle residents either wear a raincoat or wait until the downpour is over to go outside when the rain settles down.
  • State income tax – There is none; however, there is a sales tax of 6.5 percent.
  • Jaywalkers beware – When walking across a road, make sure that you are crossing in an approved crosswalk, or you may just get a jaywalking citation. Don’t say we didn’t warn you. We always suggest following rules of the road, and that holds true for city laws as well.
