The truck I rented had a bad exhaust leak and the belts were squeaking badly also some of the tires were badly worn.

The people working the service desk were very helpful and pleasant. They explained all the details very clearly and I knew what to expect and the details for dropping the truck off in odd hours if needed.

The staff were very professional and helpful but the 15’ box truck was in dire need of mechanical repairs. Some things like the very squeaky fan belt and loud leak in the exhaust manifold would be easy to fix, but the knocking valves would require a more extensive repair. We actually wanted the 20’ box truck but it was unavailable due to needed repairs. I can’t blame the local staff which again were great, but come on U-Haul, take better care of your vehicles!

absolute excellent customer service, this was my first uhaul rental experience and i could not have asked for a better one. i was in a pinch the morning of my pick up and needed a larger vehicle and the agent was empathetic to my situation and got me in a rental that suited my needs asap. drop off was also extremely easy and convenient, definitely will recommend this location!

Accurate descriptions of trucks. 15’ truck does NOT have 15’ bed. Have more & bigger trucks available. Tried to use online booking at other Hilo location & that was a fiasco. (Reserved truck wasn’t there).

I tried to use my True Link debit card, which is my access to the funds in my special needs trust. It came up in the system as a prepaid gift card, and was unacceptable for the rental. I had to pay for the rental out of my meager income, which created a significant hardship. Please, correct this, for my sake, and for the sake of all the disabled people who depend on their special needs trusts. I would like to be able to afford to rent from U-Haul again.

I booked a reservation online for a van. Although there was not a van available to rent the day I needed, Juan was kind enough to call, and inform me of the situation, but also came up with a solution and had another vehicle available. Great customer service!!

There was some confusion about renting the truck and cost and the truck I wanted was broken so we had to make two trips so my bill ended up being $140 instead of $100 I am blind just out of hospital in a wheelchair so money is very tight the estimate geven was lose and I didn’t understand the mileage or it was not given to me in the quoate I went over budget because my understanding and facts were not correct When I called uhaul I was upset and said why is my bill $140 and I guess I sounded rude to the man answering the phone he told me off and said I ezas rude and one option would not give me a truck at all I appreciate his opinion but it didn’t have to happen that way I went over budget bounced my checking because I didn’t understand him and I am extremely I’ll in the move and he didn’t have to tell me off and hang up on me. I tried to understand how things would play out in the move but didn’t even come close I am sorry I upset the worker

The Hispanic braddah working the Hilo Hawaii place was very helpful. I rented a trailer, he made things happen even though it was busy. He made it work for me. He was very polite, very professional and thorough. He did a very good job. I don't usually do surveys, but I wanted to let you guys know he's management material and did me right.

There was a delay in picking up the truck. The computer couldn't handle multiple customers. I had to wait for other customers to conclude their business. The truck had garbage under the seat and smelled of marijuana.

1.59 per mile is literally highway robbery on top of the flat rate. I went to town 3 or 4 times to haul some stuff and it was 160$…on top of the daily rate. The guy didn’t know how to properly calculate the cost when I dropped off and he quoted me almost 80$ more than what I was charged when I spoke to someone a few days later. Easy pick up and drop off and friendly employees save the experience from being a bad one.

I wanted a ramp gate trailer and U-Haul was the only place in Hilo who had one. I called, it was out and told I would be called back shortly, I was. The guy running the place was friendly, polite and knowledgeable. The trailer worked great at a great price and I will rent from them again.

Location was great however the corporate rates has for some reason over powered the local rate which I find that to be ridiculous and will probably not support U-Haul ever again and in fact will notify all of my friends also.

Your national 800 # failed to notify me when I inquired about picking up the trailer on a Sunday, that the location closed at 11:30 a.m. thus forcing me to return the trailer the next morning at 7:30 am. All they said was that my reservation was all correct. That caused me a lot of inconvenience.

The representative that rented the vehicle to me questioned my capability to drive. He called me during the duration of my rental asking if I needed assistance. I felt insulted and harassed as my rental was 4 hours and he called after 2 hours.

Juan and Candy of Hilo U-Haul did a fantastic job supporting my big move. I put over 200 miles on a 20' truck. The whole thing went great, from the large carrying capacity of the truck, to the excellent appliance dolly, and the secure and ample parking facility unlike the U-Haul facility in Kona, that has next to zero customer or truck parking. Thank you Juan especially, and for taking care of all those cadets who were docked and needed some wheels for their shore leave. :) Mahalo! Derek

The fellow that work there was very friendly and easy to work with an absolute pleasure. But I stopped by on a Sunday and Christmas Eve and the place was closed not handy but not the worst things that happened to a fella all in all very pleased would recommend it to everyone

We used this storage unit for 3 months. In that time, ALL of our belongings grew moldy and infested with roaches. Mice had been through our things chewing holes all over.

The mailbox was fine and the staff were always helpful and friendly. The office was not open for very long on the weekends which was difficult sometimes when I needed to pick up my packages. There were many times when I was stopping by and someone had let their dog poop in the parking lot, and had not picked it up. The mailbox rent was affordable when it was $10 per month, but after the price increase of more than 200% there was no way I wanted to continue my contract. Not to mention the requirement to pay 6 months up front. Especially since it is difficult to find a mailbox rental anywhere around Hilo, this seems like taking advantage of people who have no other way to receive mail. I will not recommend this mailbox rental to anyone.

Both men who “man the desk” at this Hilo location multi-task in friendly, courteous and unflappable fashion. The gentlemen went out of their way(s) to assist me with multiple rentals, which resulted in a low-stress move to the Big Island. These guys are the créme de la créme in the U-HAUL universe, and I’ll be forever grateful that Siri pointed me to Railroad Avenue.

I've had my storage unit for about a year and I didn't have any complaints or issues with my unit. The prices are reasonable and staff members are very friendly and honest! This was my first time having to rent out a storage unit. One thing I liked about Affordable Self Storage is that they check to make sure all locks are on correctly at each unit. One day I apparently didn't lock my unit correctly and I was called by a gentleman (forgot his name & he was also the one who helped my bf and I apply and did a walk around the property of the different sizes to choose from) stating that my lock wasn't on correctly. Luckily I was still in town and I went back to correctly lock my unit. Thank you for your time and honestly!
