Terrible experience. Booked a reservation at one location only to find out the person that worked there left early so I called in and the sent me to a completely different location across the city when I got to that location the gave me a truck and when I went out to the truck it was the wrong one so I had to go back inside and restart the whole process again and sign a new contract and easy so much time. I waded 2 hours of my moving day dealing with UHall BS and all they could do was say it happens. Never again!!

Tarlochan S.U-Haul do not value the lives of your clients. I was almost killed by the 20" Van I was given for a trip from Edmonton to Katy Texas. This truck had a mileage of 122,000 Miles with rusted wheels with an auto-transporter attached to pull a SUV, and the most painful thing was that I told the attendant that this truck could not make the 35 hr road trip. He told me it had just undergone a L2 maintenance and was in top shape. Right from the beginning this truck was struggling, even before it was loaded. It was a horrible journey all through until it broke down right in the middle of the highway at around 7pm. The transmission just gave up while on a speed of about 70MPH, it JUST STOPPED. There were big trucks right behind us and they had to change lane in order not to ram us into the bushes. As it could not drive we were unable to move it totally off the road, and so had to stand by the roadside in the middle of nowhere in the freezing cold temperature trying to call U-Haul. Finally we got an agent on the phone and he was so NOT empathetic, asking us to sit in the van if we were feeling cold. Sit in a van on the high way at around 8pm where there was absolute darkness. He said a roadside assistance truck would be with us within 1 hr, nothing showed up until 2 hrs later. We took turns to watch out for coming trucks in order to warm our hands with the aide door vent. Guess what, after the 2 hrs what came was a small SUV who just came to see if truly the van had broken down. No Tow vehicle, no mechanics, just a plain guy who then called U-Haul to now book a tow vehicle. This was the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. After that, he just left us the way he met us. U-Haul now said we needed to wait for a tow vehicle with an ETA of 1.5hrs, and this was now around 11.30pm in the middle of no where. Still this agent was so unempathetic. We were so cold we had started shivering and my legs/hands were going num. We finally decided to offload my SUV on the auto transporter and drove to the next town. I was booked what they called a hotel, it was the most horrible accommodation I have ever seen. The bed linens were stained, the towels were dirty and the room was smelling of cigarette, despite being a non smoking room. The washroom had stains all over and the shower was like a tap. I slept on the chair and did not take a shower to let you know how bad it was. I have the pictures and video and this would be going on social media soon, tagged U-Haul provided accommodation after van broke down. By the next morning, when I called U-Haul I was informed by van was yet to be towed from the highway. I did not leave Amarillo until about 3pm. My whole plans had been ruined because of an incompetent company ran by incompetent staff. I'll advise you think hard before going in the U-Haul especially if its a long drive. The guy that came to meet us at the scene of the breakdown said thus was a usual occurrence with U-Haul, that he was practically always out going to rescue stranded clients. Driving on the high ways is a very dangerous activity by itself, and to have U-Haul provide bad trucks to clients is reckless!!!
Olanshile J.I arrived and was told I would have to drop the truck off at a separate location. What is the point of selecting a drop off location if I'm going to have to be redirected. An email the day of with the new location would have saved me time and gas.

Barry C.I didn't experience any issues with this location, however, I was disappointed with the self-service option. I booked the truck for 8:30am, which is before the location opens. I had to wait half an hour for the store to open because the wait time over the phone was 30 mins long. The employee at this location was very helpful and said it should have been automatically set up as a self-service option because my scheduled time was before they even opened. She was able to figure everything out for me and extended my booking because of the inconvenience.

They said only 2 and made me upset. They did not seem to belive that I had the 4 day rental. I brought the unit back extra early on the 4th day to accommodate there next renter

Toni B.Every piece of equipment they originally tried to give me for my 700+km trip across the province was broken or in disrepair, and the manager tried to convince me that they were the only available pieces of equipment, until i refused to leave with them and offered rescheduling at a new location with serviceable equipment infron of other customers, then all of a sudden there was a truck that could be pulled of the back lot with not bald tires and no check engine light on. Even the dollys were broken. Just disgusting. I will never use your services again and will inform all of my friends and family of my negative experiences dealing with your company. Not to meantion the extra charges they have tacked on my final bill, including 1 extra day of truck rental.

This was my first time using UHaul and anytime I asked a question nobody had an answer either because they didn't know or because I was being flat out ignored. The truck I rented was double parked and when we asked about it, one employee had no idea what to do and then the one that helped us seemed very irritated by having to get someone to move the truck that was blocking ours. One of the employees when we went to return the truck was swearing and seemed very irritated by my asking of questions. I quickly gave up and tried asking someone inside the building and they also didn't answer what was a pretty basic question about how returning the truck works. Absolutely wouldn't recommend this location simply because of the customer service alone. It was a terrible experience and I couldn't imagine treating customers at my retail job the way I was treated here.

Sonia M.Wait time was quite a lengthy one, as the attendant had issues with my online reservation. The trailer was extremely dirty on the outside and could have been washed down. Drop off was a complete disaster. Received a text.with the drop off location, only to find out they dont do returns. So had to drive another 20 minutes 1 way to return and then drive back home. Not to mention, it took the lady 40 minutes to get an answer on where to drop off. This happens all the time when I deal with Uhaul. I book in one spot , only to have to drive way out to pick up from another location, and then drop off is the exact same ordeal. Your system is broken and is nothing but a pain for the customer. Why is that. If I never have to use Uhaul again, I would not be upset.

Moving carts through a heavy swing door that can’t easily be propped open is difficult due to it being much more narrow and also the lip to get through the door. Nearly every time I came to do something in my unit, often during the mid day regular business hours, the sliding doors to the main buildings storage area (the east side sliding doors visible from 50th st) were unusable making moving items in or out much more difficult.

The location on 50th Street in Edmonton desperately needs more staff inside as I have been there at different times at people have stood almost 5-10 deep waiting as there were only 2 available, one doing only truck pickups. When I tried to call in, I was put on hold for 30 minutes so that I opted to go in in person. The staff, however, were very friendly and helpful.

I was charged 50 lien fee a 50 pre lien fee and 2 /10$ late charges and a 15 dollar late charge. 135 in late fees. Absolutely ridiculous. I used to use Uhaul quite often. I will never frequent this buisness again. I have found a unit with another company that is 3x the size for the same price. So my advive is shop around and DO NOT USE UHAUL FOR YOUR NEEDS.

The front desk attendant took my credit card, and I asked if the payments would be automatic. She assured me that they would. My first month's hadn't come out and when I called I was told was told the first month was overdue because there was no automatic credit card on file. I asked them to make a payment and set me up for automatic payment. My second month was also late and when I called, the attendant told me that it was because no one activated it on the account. Since then, I have paid for a facility where food and items were left in the hallway, and the alarm seemed to always be going off when I got there. When I asked if I set the alarm off, the attendant said that no, I hadn't, and that it just goes off every time something happens. Which appears to be 6 times an hour during busy time. There also were times when a cart wasn't available for my building. I know it's a courtesy, but it still would have been nice to have one.

Shaun S. | First ImpressionsI came in to check into my unit about 25 mins before closing. I was trying to get there earlier but this move has been very challenging. Robyn helped me and was amazing. She helped me make sure I had the right unit that worked for me and easily able to move in. She even directed me to McDonald's while I waited for my brother to show with the truck because I hadn't eaten all day. When I went to eat I saw a reflection of myself in a window and I was an aweful disheveled mess. Yet when I was checking into unit Robyn still treated me great. Would definitely recommend this location and I would use them again both for storage and truck rental.

Only issue with staff was when I moved out I was driving a large truck and when I went in to close account I didn't realize I had parked in front of disabled parking. The staff member who addressed it was very inappropriate. Instead of simply asking for the vehicle to be moved he went on a long winded explanation of why, yelling it across a very busy store. Needless to say it was very embarrassing and rather than close the account I left.

I arrived at the facility (50th street Edmonton) the first sets of staffs were helpful, after storing my items, I went and gave the keys to the front desk, she insisted i return it under the blue canopy, of which i did and went back inside. I gave her the keys but she refused to collect it , she said I didnt park the truck under the blue canopy, that I parked outside the facility, I explained that was another dark skinned guy that she should collect the keys and verify , she insisted and told me she would loose it if she found out I was lying, she eventually checked and saw my Truck parked under the blue canopy but she didn’t acknowledged her mistake or apologized for threatening and calling a customer a liar. Please kindly look into this as this should not be happening to customers.

I don’t like bait boxes inside the units. Mouse poop located there. It also was very cold inside. Things would freeze. I found a much cleaner unit elsewhere

It took us two days of driving from Olds to Edmonton and back to get everything done. This is not the first mix up we have had with U-Haul and we are reluctant to even rent a truck again.

Steve O on the other hand is the best employee that uhaul has to offer he was the most helpful and respectful employee at that branch and I just thought that he should be recognized because he is an amazing hard worker!!

All personnel from the in-store staff to customer service seem very incompetent at their job. Some of the most clueless people I've ever talk to. First they send me a notification that I had checked out of my storage unit when I wasn't even in town and still had 2 more weeks left. I called them several times but no response, eventually I had to drive 3hrs back to town to make sure all my belongings were still there. When I got there they told me my locker was broken into and was empty so they replaced the lock on it. They went looking for the keys but 20mins later couldn't find them. The staff I was dealing with didn't look very intelligent so I lost confidence in them and took it upon myself to walk to the locker and have a look myself, sure enough my key worked and all my belongings were still there. Then 2 weeks later I was moving my stuff out and had made a reservation for a truck a month ahead of time, the day before my truck rental I received a call and I was told the truck I had made the reservation for wasn't available and I'll need to drive 60km out of town to pick one up. I didn't have a choice so I went to pick up the truck, but when I went to return the truck to the location I had picked online, I found out that they had also changed the drop off location to a place 40km away from the location I had reserved online. Called customer service several times to resolve this issue and every time I called I came across someone with their age higher than their IQ. Eventually I realized it was a losing battle, you can't reason with those that aren't equipped for it.

Then I made the trip down there and went to see it in person, there they told me my locker was empty and I had checked out. They couldn't find my info in the system. They didn't seem very smart or sure about anything in life, so I walked up to the locker myself and had a look inside and everything was still there intact.

When my friends had rented an indoor unit a few months back, we had about an hour of wasted time trying to deal with the swipe card not working for the facility, having to return in and out of the store to get help from an associate as nobody was willing to come outside to help deal with the problem, and the alarms going off constantly. The only reason why we returned is because of pricing and location.
