I think that the U-Haul location, there on Bayshore Blvd, is definitely setting the bar high for all of the other U-Haul locations. You all seem to have been trained well, as you go about your workdays with such confidence, professionalism and attention to detail (not to mention, great customer service attitude/mentality)! Biggest concern was the large exhaust leak located directly under seat which filled the can with harmful gases. Also the app to confirm previous damages at check in is imo designed to frustrate and overwhelm you so that you give in and just accept any condition so you can be on your way. It took me over an hour to cave to the point of being back in line at the front counter again waiting another 30 mins to be greeted by an employee who was surprisingly very helpful and empathetic to my needs. Finally the last straw was at the drop-off location, trying to check out using the worst POS app known to mankind only to waste another 2 hours of my life which could have been utilized unpacking etc as opposed to standing beside a truck in the hot sun trying to configure, calculate, triangulate and wrap it all up with having to now deal with being late as I failed all attempts to check out. I wanted to attach the keys to a large rock and deposit them through the first large window I could find but instead was preparing my credit card company for the inevitable payment reversal and lock down all to prevent their additional fees and added charges for their app that doesn't work. I placed the rock gently on the ground and sat defeated in my partners vehicle to swear, never again!

Cassandra ROur truck had a horrible smell of urine in the cargo area. It was so bad that we couldn’t put anything in it for fear of the smell getting onto our items. Fortunately, we ended up not needing the cargo area, (we had much less stuff to haul than we thought we would) but by the time I could get back to the yard to return the truck, the office was closed. Next time, I will check the cargo area before leaving the lot.

I even asked about it when I called to reserve and was told it would be taken care of at the location. When I pull up I saw there was also an advertisement for a free month outside. When I asked about this free month I was told I did not qualify. I had already moved all my things in so I felt I couldn't change my mind anymore. I felt I was promised an offer and didn't receive it. I ended up renting for two months as the storage access hours did not line up well with my work schedule. If I'm ever in need of storage I wouldn't store with uhaul again.

The counter does not communicate with the all so when you go inside to ask for help they start a whole new contact for you regardless if you have a card on file or already in use. This is a very frustrating experience. We were able to complete our rental only because a secondary attendant knew of a few extra steps to work through to help us with our original rental versus a whole new agreement. We recommend having better communication with the app and the counter service system. We also recommend a reliable WiFi connection through Uhaul so our location can be verified and the app can work.
Victor CFor a first time renter, I was a little confused how the process worked and was expecting the truck to either be parked up front and for someone to give some pointers. Instead, I was told where to pick it up and had to figure things out on my own. I could have asked, sure. But the whole process would have been more pleasant if a rep was there for more guidance. Other than that, pick up and drop off was smooth. I rented the 15' truck and it got the job done.

Jessica CIt would be extremely beneficial to have 24 hour access - especially considering the high pricing (and frequent increases), as well as due to the fact of being located in a major urban area with such a variety of working and sleeping hours. I actually did not even enter my unit for several years due to the hours not fitting with my schedule and/or those of someone with a vehicle (I do not have a vehicle, due to living in an urban area). Mechanical lifting equipment or lifts would be extremely helpful for those with units that are up flights of stairs or with upper level units. Especially for the units with permanent stairs, wheelchair platforms could be installed which do not require operation by a licensed equipment operator. And platforms which do require an operator could be requested or reserved by appointment so that a certified employee could be present to operate it. It would be nice to see more availability of larger units. It is not in everyone's budgets to maintain more than one unit, but the lack of larger units forces people to make downsizing decisions, where a larger unit would keep them in your property. The card access systems could use updating - it takes a while to get the hang of the correct speed and firmness of card swiping, leading to unnecessary trips to the office (if it is open), just to be told you are not swiping slowly enough. Perhaps tap cards would be better? Especially for those looking to reduce wallet bulk, a small keychain fob would be great. Otherwise, everything was generally great. Employees were always friendly and helpful - often even ready to go out of their way to assist with any concern or issue. The environment was always clean, with not a single rodent or pest to be found. The temperature/humidity always seemed in great control. Overall, I was mostly satisfied. I would be likely to maintain this location as my lifelong storage location if the above-mentioned issues were corrected - especially the ones regarding access hours, mechanical equipment/lifts, and more plentiful availability of larger units. There was also a crack in the windshield. 4. Tried filling up gas but pump was damaged which resulted in another two hour delay. Unfortunately, evidence of pre-knowledge water ingress issues in the cargo area of a long in the tooth truck existed and that truck was put into service despite the weather that day. This water leakage had no resistance and it flowed freely into the cargo area destroying several belongings. I have filed a claim through appropriate channels and we will see if UHaul does the right thing or if UHaul is the evil empire.

I booked two weeks in advance and the day before my move, a U-Haul representative told me that there was no one-way truck available. I thought this was guaranteed per the online booking process. There is probably a lot of hidden language that was not easily understandable. I am not happy at all. It was an inconvenience to have to drive back to return the truck.
Thuong TVehicle was clean and had almost 9000 miles, but dashboard warnings for low tire pressure and the need for an oil change kept scrolling by. This is not the first time I've seen warnings - years ago the check engine light was on for a vehicle with under 1000 miles. These vans are driven hard with many drivers and lots of short trips so maintenance must be a challenge.

Travis HWhen I arrived I was charged double what my reservation was quoted. The employee made no attempt at helping. Then when another employee took me to the trailer, we inspected it and the lights were unsafely dim and there were parts of the trailer hanging off, partially taped on with old, decaying tape. I had to help the employee rivet the part back on (at my suggestion) by getting under the trailer and holding it for him. I planned on driving the trailer to my destination the next day, but when I opened the trailer to load it it has leaked water (not from the doors) pooling inside. Seeing this unit was defective and unsafe to drive I decided to return it without making my trip. When I arrived at a local Uhaul store, the employee told me I had to go back to the other store to rerun it, and I would have to call customer service. I called the uhaul 800 number where the employee told me to call scheduling department at my original destination. Calling there, the employee told me I had to call the number for the local Uhaul. I called there and the employee I spoke with was very unhelpful telling me they didn't want to allow me to return the trailer and told me no one would help me. Finally, hearing the conversation I was having over the phone the employee at the store I was standing in decided to help and allowed me to return the trailer. I would definitely advise anyone to reconsider doing any business with uhaul in the future, it's not worth it. Poor equipment, horrible service with nonsensical situations. In particular the employee at the original pickup location, Center Storage Manager Wendy Ramos was extremely unhelpful and treated me disrespectfully from the moment I walked up to the counter.

The worker who called me in the nick of time had my driver's license number, but had to ask me for my email address, though it has not changed for several decades. Also, U-Haul records showed my backup contact person at an address on Holloway. I have never even known anyone who lived on Holloway! I paid the bill via credit card, corrected the information U-Haul had wrong, and re-instituted auto-pay with my credit card, but I am upset and mystified as to where the wrong contact information could have come from and very upset that I nearly lost my stored goods.

We had to take three days off of work waiting for cops because the manager refused to call us when they got there even though we live 10 mins away. The man who robbed our unit used a very loud angle grinder in the facility and no one noticed. Not secure. He also robbed other units and when I asked the manager if she was going to contact the unit she said no it wasn’t her problem which makes this tenants very unlikely to recover their stolen items the longer it hasn’t been reported. I would never recommend this place in fact I’ve been actively telling people to not rent in this unit because it’s unsafe and management is useless

My last comment is the large amount of Day Workers congregated at the front of the facility. They stand in sqaular all day and wave at customers as they drive in and out. There are also plenty of unhoused people roaming at the gate. The overall feeling of the environment was dismal and downtrodden. The inside of the storage facility was clean, however the outside environment made me anxious when I was on the property. I made it a point to never go to my locker after hours because I was intimidated by the circumstances of the vagrants at the gate.

So as a “favor” they “allowed” me to park my open trailer with all my stuff in the hitch bay. I do not understand why you say you’re open until 7. When I came the next day I was told that no one knew how to open the hitch bay and that I had to come back at 3. They also told me that they don’t understand why the people on Saturday didn’t let me move in then. This was extremely inconvenient. Then, even though I reserved a ground floor unit, it turned out to be a 5th floor unit with steps that had to be climbed to get my stuff in. This wasn’t mentioned anywhere and was not what I reserved. So I had to upgrade to an 8x8x8 on the third floor to avoid the steps which is costing me considerably more money. It also has a column in the corner so it’s not really an 8x8x8. The column is easily 1x1x8 so why am I paying for an 8x8x8? Doesn’t seem fair. Lastly, zero of your male employees were masked berating a mask around your neck or mouth doesn’t count. Suffice to say, I’m looking for another place to store my stuff and judging by my experience on Saturday evening, I’m guessing no one really cares so. I also need to say that while there was some effort to remedy my situation on Saturday there is no reason I couldn’t have been given my card and allowed to move my stuff in. My “staff friendliness rating” was based on the Saturday crew. The Sunday crew was much more helpful and I’d give them a “yes” for this question.

Please do what you were supposed to do in the first place and request payment of $129.00 from my bank and refund the late fees. The most mismanaged badly run facility i've ever seen. While i was there i heard 2 other people have meltdowns because you guys ruined their reservations and took payment for services you could not provide. whoever the GM is, expect to be hearing from me. I had to pay my movers an extra $120 to stay another hour since this dumpster fire of a situation took up an hour of the time they were supposed to be moving my stuff into the unit. On top of this nightmare the one locker available was at the top of a pully ladder stacked ontop of another unit. AND IT'S $40+ MORE THAN WHAT I RESERVED ONLINE. I expect this price match to be met after this hellfire saga. I have to say the mismanagement of this location is a joke. Your employees are working class people that don't deserve the abuse they get from their customers because of how badly your management runs this location. FIRE HIM.

She mentioned she knew about it and almost insinuated that I should have known; she insisted that it was an 8x8x8. The unit was useless to me as I needed to place 2 large items (a couch and an erg machine). She refused to upgrade me. She refused to help out finding an alternate facility. I eventually had to drive close to 30 miles away to be able to store my items. A terrible experience unlike the one at the Oakland Coliseum's. I will never rent from the Bayshore location ever again.
