This facility has an outstanding staff and the common areas are well maintained.
My 2nd time there and its chaotic to say the least. Gravel storage yard not easily navigated and trucks leave it damaged due to tires spinning. This happened while I was there and l was concerned my SUV was going to get damaged from rocks/dirt flying thru the air.
Sharon Road Uhaul is always excellent!

This was the smoothest and easiest truck rental I've ever experienced... and I move on average every 1-2 years. Cleanest rental truck I've ever been in as well!
UHAUL employee labeled my one way trip as local and I had to drive the trailer back and miss half a days work, instead of dopping it at my destination. Your phone people said I signed the contract and they would not change it. They said if I dropped the trailer off like I told the employee, I would have to pay heavy penalties. I will never use uhaul again and will hit you with bad reviews on the internet to warn consumers of your unfair practices!
Very well organized, very clean, andcheck in was so easy. Staff were very friendly. They really have the process down, so I was in and out. I will only go here for now on.
Excellent service, staff very polite, love this place
The last three recent times I have rented from this location it has consistently been slow check in/out service, the cargo trailer was not properly put on and fell off the ball hitch within a mile or so of the location, and just yesterday I had to help the associate get the trailer off and move it in a spot. Overall, this location needs quicker, efficient, and we'll trained staff to improve the customer experience.
The truck we rented was unsafe- you could not drive it over 20 mph without shaking intensely. Only used it for 1 load and turned it in. Very upsetting and not worth what I paid .

Bill was awesome. I would like to point out two things that infuriate me though. First, in line it gives you a price, but the REAL price is different with retail tax and deposit etc.. This is nit full disclosure and is unethical and endemic in corporate America. Why don't you just tell me what it's going to cost!? You provide a quality service that is still a fair price. Why lie to get me in the door? Secondly, you charge an additional amount which is refundable if all requirements are met. Why not also make me aware of this when I am reserving online!? This is deceitful. Thirdly, when I bring back everything in good order - the refunded amount is credited, but - as I am told "if you don't see it (money in my bank acct) in two or three days give us a call". Are you kidding me!? You managed to pull the full amount from my bank in nano seconds! But now you are going to make me wait to get my money back!? With interest rates where they are you can not be making enough money to compensate for the ill will you have generated in my mind! Someone should examine he ethics of your business model. But I suppose it's effective enough, for there are so many oblivious people that need you more than you need me as a customer. Would have been a perfect experience if not for setting my expectations improperly - and I would run around telling everyone how amazing UHaul is. Now I am going to bitch about what a typical money grubbing corporate entity you are.
I would have liked it better if my preferred locations could be used for pickups and turn in. It doesn't seem to be based on what is the most convenient.
We had to bring our truck back on Sunday morning and dropped the key and contract in the box.
I did see the charge on my bank account but there was no receipt emailed to me.
It would be nice to have the final receipt.

I was due back at 6:00 pm. I needed it longer and knew I would pay extra. I also knew the location was closed. I got texts and calls from U-Haul reminding me it should already be back. One rep. said it was supposed to go out again... after the office is closed. That's BS. Track your vehicles- yes, harass your customers and lie to them, no, not a good idea.

I was given a tow dolly that had a jammed tie-down strap. I figured it out when I went to load the car. Spent an extra hour out in 95 degree heat trying to safely secure the car in spite of the strap. An important safety item like that needs to be checked every time the dolly is rented.
Otherwise, my rental experience was pretty good. 4 stars if the dolly had been functional.
Let the customer know where to park the truck upon returning before they park in the wrong place.
Although trailer is advertised as 5x9 in size, some of that size is compromised due to the chains that hold the tailgate. Chains are welded therefore, can't be removed to utilize the entire width. I rented trailer to haul a 50 inch cub cadet lawnmower, which trailer should have been more than enough. I drove 4 hours to learn the trailer would not work, which was a waste of time and my money. Solution: should be able to insecure one end of chain on tailgate.
Everyone was so kind and courteous! Even the maintenance/groundsman was very nice and friendly!

As for the truck this time, I've had better. Though clean, it had some issues. I already reported the problems to them.

This is a very well run operation.
The young lady that checked us in was so efficient and very pleasant. We were in and out in 10 minutes. I did the pre-check in prior to picking the van up so that may have helped. It was also very easy and efficient when we returned the van. I will certainly recommend this location to friends.
Horrible pick up experience. I ordered a 17 ft truck and they gave me a "free upgrade" to a 20 ft truck. I let them know I didn't want a free upgrade - just wanted the truck I reserved. They had 3 17 ft trucks on the lot but they said I couldn't have one of those. I said let me have the truck I ordered and give the next person the free upgrade. I was told by Maria ( VERY rude) to just call 800-Go-Haul and have them figure it out. I asked if she could do that for me and she said no - it was my reservation and I had to call. Made no sense but I did as advised. I called the 800 number and they said I needed to handle this though the regional office (or something like that) and gave me another 800 number. I asked if she could transfer me - the answer was I needed to call. Made no sense but I did as advised. I called 800-532-0385 and explained my situation. I spoke to Caroline ( not sure if the name). She said her computer was acting up and couldn't help me. She said the have the folks at the pick up counter find me the truck I reserved or call their supervisor. Right back where I started but an hour later. I asked Maria 1 more time if I could just have the 17 ft truck I ordered ( which was right outside the window) she said no. I followed instructions and asked if she could call her manager. She said she already did and he said no. I was in front of her the entire time and she didn't call anyone. I asked who she called - she said Bill Harris. I asked if I could give Bill a call. She said I would have to call the 800 number to get Bill's number - she wouldn't give it to me. I could go on with more but you get the message. Horrible service, no regard for the customer, absolutely no customer care. I will never rent from Uhal again. I will use this experience as an example of what not to do with the hundred of employees I work with when I teach how to deliver world class service.
First of all, the customer service on the phone prior to pick-up was deplorable. The employee was rude, short, and unhelpful. We had a reservation guaranteed for "before noon" on Saturday, July 30th. We received a phone call after 8pm on Friday, July 29th, informing us that uHaul did not currently have a truck scheduled for us, but would be sure to call us AND HAVE A TRUCK TO US before noon. We had a long day of moving, involving multiple cities and had already set up helpers at those locations. By 10am, we had not received a phone call and called in. After an extremely long wait time (over 10 minutes), we were finally told, "there are no trucks for you." When you "guarantee" a reservation for before noon, maybe you should try a little harder to find reserves or figure out how you can get more trucks to the necessary locations, uHaul. We finally got a truck at 7:30pm that evening from this horrible location. Our plans were already completely ruined, leaving us with no moving help and causing us to have to drive and move overnight. This location was terrible because there was a clear understaffing issue. The one main lady had an attitude and a heavy accent - she seemed extremely upset each time we needed her to repeat herself. Another customer was brought to tears when the wait time to pick up her dolly was over 30minutes. This dolly was supposed to be in the truck on her first pick up, but was not included. When we asked if someone could show us how to hook up our car to the tow dolly, we were shoved a pamphlet. We arrived at our pick-up time of 5:15pm and were not out of there until after 7:30pm. Luckily, we checked the truck prior to leaving. No dolly, so we asked if we could grab one on our way out. Also, why is the final price always $100s more on checkout than it was listed on the reservation site? EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED. WILL NOT RETURN TO UHAUL EVER AGAIN.
Trucks alignment needed maintenance.
The service rep was very professional & explained exactly how to hook up (did it for me) & unhitch the trailer!!! Very friendly & helpful!!! The trailer handled very well with no problems!!! No improvements needed!!!
I was told I could drop off the truck at the same location as my storage shed when I reserved my unit. When I tried leaving the truck they told me I would be charged double and made me take the truck to a different location.
Representative managing the receipt of incoming vehicles as well as outgoing equipment was excellent at multi-tasking! In spite of a high tempo of operations, managed everything very nicely.

More people on staff. The two people there were friendly and working quickly, but had a large line.
I did not take the tow dolly and ask them to redo the contract, but they insisted, because they were extremely busy, that the refund would be given upon return to Bethune SC. Maria and the older guy that initially finalized my order/contract have not been reachable to refund the $49.00 plus tax for the tow dolly. I have filed a formal complaint and if it is not resolved in 24 to 48 hours I will pursue for a total refund in the amount of $271.xx. This has been a terrible and poor experience. I have never had one like this before and I have used Uhaul before!! This location NEVER answers their phone or honor the requests sent via instant message. This location needs more office staff to accommodate the traffic of customers so that everyone is taken care of in a professional manner!
After the disappointing experience I had in my pickup point I was ready for anything. However I was pleasantly surprised. Both ladies were professional and friendly and this was with trucks more trucks coming in back to back. They had me out in 10 minutes with a smile and "have a nice day". I so appreciated this after a sad pickup. I will continue to use Uhaul.
Worst storage unit ok the planet. Rude staff, incompetent staff and jacks rates up on units. Plus EVERY single time we went to our unit someone had parked a Uhaul truck right in front of it.

The air conditioning did not work and the outside temperature was above 95. There were other mechanical problems with the truck as well.
Verify all tail lights work on trailer. The wiring on the right side was not connected. No one checked it out before I rented it. It had to be in this condition when it was received by the location.
The people helping you are very pleasant; they acknowledged me when I came in even though they were busy with other customers.
Wonderful customer service
Everyone was friendly and helpful. However, the reservation I had made online was not in the system when I showed up on time at 8:15 for my 20' truck. Bill, the manager, did not have the truck that I had RESERVED and CONFIRMED online. He told me that I would be contacted as soon as there was a truck available so I went back and started moving my furniture to the curb of my apartment. After moving everything for two hours I still had not received a call so I decided to call customer service where I was on hold for 10 minutes before being transferred to traffic where I talked to Alicia who told me that they had a 15' truck at the Sharon Road West location that I was originally at. After going back and getting my truck, again two and a half hours after my reservation, I was assured I would get the 50 dollar refund for my reservation not being fulfilled. Upon returning the truck I talked to Maria the assistant manager who had no idea my plight I had gone through this morning nor about the 50 dollar refund. She called to confirm with Bill and finally came back saying she would do that for me. I then was charged for a 20' truck even though I had to settle for a 15' truck. If I had not said something she never would have noticed. In conclusion everyone was very nice and helpful but this was one of the absolute worst experiences I have ever had. Thank you for reading.

When I panicked when I couldn't find the brake release and faced a deadline I called and the manager I think his name was bill hopped into his car and came and "saved the day" getting me moving on time. Yes I will recommend this location to friends.
I called 3 times to let them know I'd be 30-45 minutes late, I waited on hold for 5 minutes+ each time and still didn't get a person.
I got charged for a wrong destination fee without notice and after getting approval from the drop off location and from GoUhaul. As of this review they have still not taken care of the issue and charged me much more for my rental than what it should have been. Make sure you understand your charges when you drop off prior to them running your card.
Security gate was always open, any one could just drive in.
I used the drop box and was so grateful to be able to drop off after hours!
Don't leave a dolly and tarps in the truck when I didn't order them. It took up unnecessary space.
Sharon Rd was great but this wasnt my original dropoff location. My original location was Pineville on Lancaster Hwy. Horrible expetience. Employee lied to me. When I called him on it he went postal. You need to make sure he doesnt have access to a gun. Call me you have serious issues to discuss.
Staff is disorganized and not knowledgeable.
I was told that I could drop it off at any location in the greater Charlotte area. Having to pick it back up and take it to Sharon rd location wasted a lot of time and effort which caused me to be late to work. No apology was made. No discount was given for my lost wages. There was even a day added, along with insurance and everything. I was thoroughly disappointed.
The truck I rented recently wasn't as equipped as the one I rented a month ago but it got the job done.

Maria was VERY professional and took the time to build a great report. Most locations go through the paperwork like a robot. Maria was very personable and did a much better job of explaining EVERYTHING then the location we originally went to on the corner of Tyvola Rd and South Blvd. That was a ridiculous experience! He had trucks, is a nice person but never in a "good mood", didn't take the time to explain how the deposits were determined (the computer does it) AND he referred us to Maria...HE HAD TRUCKS according to what Maria could see. She and her location deserved the business and I will be a repeat customer at her location. Thank you...
It was an inconvenience that I could not pay for the rental prior to the time of pickup. That made me late picking up my child from Day Camp. The trailer drained my niece's battery and we had to get a jump from a neighbor. This was interesting being that the representative told her that the trailer was old and a little raggedy. It took over 30 minutes to detach the trailer upon return. I only needed the ramp with a VERY small trailer, but none were available in the area. Grateful that I was able to move my piano, but not sure I would do it all over again for that price.
The gentleman who helped me check back in was also extremely accommodating! Entire rental process was smooth. We WILL be return customers!

Surprised about the poor MPG of the 17" truck. I travelled only 14 miles and it took over 8 gallons of fuel to get the tank needle back to where it was before.
Try to make the drop off area a little less congested on busy days. It may not be possible because of the available space, but it would be nice.

Didn't even go inside. They were extremely busy. The clerk didn't do anything except take my form in the parking lot and tell me to leave because there were other customers needing assistance.

Not really something to improve, but something I appreciated about my experience. I was accidentally charged for gas when I filled the tank before dropping the rental van off. When I called, everyone was kind, helpful and professional and my issue was sorted out before the day was through. Every business has little hiccups here and there, and I really appreciated how easy it was to get everything figured out. I was also surprised by the quality of the van, by the end of my move I liked driving it better than my own car! Overall I had a great experience with U-haul
Better communicate the policy that vehicles MUST BE PICKED UP WITHIN 1.5 HOURS OF SCHEDULED PICKUP TIME.
My reservation was canceled because I was 2 hours past my time. Initially told I couldn't rent, then they found a vehicle. Not a good way to start the process.

Overall excellent service and great value!
We moved from NC to SC. At first the drivers door worked fine, but later it wouldn't open & we had to get in from the passenger side. Also, due to the Memorial Day holiday when returning the vehicle we had know way of returning the equipment & had to leave it on a truck without a lock. But believed it to be a secure location. Wish the truck had cruise control.
Computer system was exceptionally slow, causing check out process to be far to slow

Cover backwards -extra hour work. box lock broken off screwed shut. charged more @1 store than other. Staff knew 0 about boxes. Guy@Sharon rd loaded box cussed saying how much he hates boxes.
The staff at the U-haul facility was very helpful and accommodating when I was checking out after 4 years less 1 month.

St. Louis shipping dept. absolute rudeness and Corp. cust. Service managers refusal to speak with me was worst I have ever been treated as a customer.
This is by far is the best U-Haul facility in the Charlotte area. In particular the on site manager is one of the best customer service reps. Everything about this location and staff is great.
Maria was a help. So was the gentleman from New York that was assisting with the trucks. I appreciate all they did to assist with welcoming me to the state.
Presently, the facility`s access control system is inoperative-and all main building doors to CC storage are open. Main gate is only security. Get systems online ASAP

My only concern is that two times I have gone back and both gates are open - the staff on duty advised that the gates never work so they keep them open - that was a bit concerning...

I never had any problems with this facility. The employees are polite and very helpful. The parking area upfront is really tight and tricky to get in and out of, but eveything else is good.

The boxes arrive 13 DAYS LATE. And there were not trailors to transport them on, so we were told to PAY EXTRA for a truck.No Way!
Boxes arrived 13 DAYS LATE. There were no trailers for the u-boxes at our destination, so we were told to PAY EXTRA to keep them in storage until we could PAY FOR A TRUCK to move them ourselves.
The GM of the facility gave me another unit that was bigger, and did not charge me for the difference. I appreciated him handling my customer issue quickly.

We got a message confirming we had moved out when we had not. We had to drive over to see if our unit had been emptied. It had not. We did get an apologetic phone call later on voicemail from a woman.

Location is infested with spiders, and other insects my mattress and other furniture was ruined by black spots deposited by this insects.
It was very helpful to have moving dollies and carts to offload items into the unit.

I paid for a full month and when i moved some of my things from the storage unit they ended my contract. I should be able to utilize the unit for a few more weeks.

Unfriendly and unhelpful staff. I literally drove a Uhaul 500 miles to this storage facility only to go down the street to Pulix Storage. The only benefit they offered was issuing my refund!

Was a little shocked when I received an email saying our unit was considered vacant 2 days after we placed our things in storage and were not to move out until 30 days later!
Service was slow and staff needs more training on using their computer program for new tenants.

Door stops to prop main doors while moving in or out would be great.
A smoother transition from elevator walkway to ashalt so wheels of carts don`t get stuck.
