The afterhours drop off was very vague and people had no idea where to park. There are no signs or guidelines on how and where to leave trucks and the app was freezing when trying to navigate through the afterhours menu.

I purchase and spend thousands of dollars with uhaul. I had one inconvenience and the manager at this location (not sure what her name was) was being very disrespectful and not understanding that i was in a difficult situation but we are a nation wide company and will have the card information asap but she was being completely rude and telling me “no”? We spent over 50k on uhaul since we started and the one time i have an issue she wants to make it even more difficult. i was being super respectful and then threaten to go pick up the truck ? and never did.

I would like to preface this review with between 1990 and 2015 my company F.F.SE. L.L.C. Rented a truck to multiple trucks at least 40 times a year. Since 2017 I have spent more than $9,000.00 in rentals in Cicero, N.Y. My experience last Sunday/Monday was a aggravated disappointment. Whatever could go wrong did go wrong. I rented online a 10' truck from your 1715 Wall Street, Los Angeles location. I was dropped off on time for my 1:00 PM one way pick up. This location is in the center of a homeless encampment. When I arrived I was told that the truck was not there, they have called the renter multiple times but did not hear back. Although there were multiple trucks on the street, they, "were not available". I was told to call customer service. When calling I was offered a truck at a location 1.5 miles away. I asked if someone would drive us to this location. I was told no. Then one of the workers said " We could probably F@#king take you if the boss was here but the boss isn't F@#king here so we can't F@#king take you. We had to wait for an uber to take us to the alternate location. When arriving at the alternate location at 1836 Arapahoe St, Los Angeles, the man and woman were delightful to work with and quite jovial. They arrange as quickly as possible to get me a one way truck. However I was told the truck was on empty, because a man at 5:30 AM was caught on camera syphoning all the gas out of the truck. Not their fault. (I was told if my original reservation would have been with their location they would have filled the tank). I was told where a gas station was to fill up across the street. I filled the tank for $143.14. I am now late for my designated pick up which cause some problems. Now here is where your real problem is. I filled the truck with gas, drove to my Escondido location, unloaded and cleaned the truck. The next day about 12:15 PM I returned the truck to your 802 S. Coast Highway, Oceanside location. I had only used a 1/4 tank of gas. There was a woman on the phone and a man at the computer. I said I needed to check out and be reimbursed for 3/4 tank of gas for the amount of $107.35. The man at the computer started to figure out how to do this. The lady on the phone tells me "We don't do refunds on gas!!!" I try to explain the situation to the man and the lady, still on the phone now said " We only give a 1/4 tank of gas refund. READ IT. It's in the small print of the contract!!!!!" I once again try to explain the circumstances and she, still on the phone, " We don't give refunds over 1/4 of a tank it's in your contract. You signed it.!!!! So as a customer for 34 years spending 10's of thousands of dollars with U-Haul. I, to say the least am not happy! I contacted customer service directly and was told I would have receive an email or phone call by last night. I have not received either.

The lady who attended me, Maria, did not want to be there. She was very rude and unwelcoming. When she came outside to turn in the keys to the rental truck she saw me parked on handicap (I am handicapped) and said I couldn’t parked there because there was no customer parking on sight. I let her know I am handicapped and because I saw the handicap sign I parked there. Surprisingly I saw other people coming on site to park next to me but she didn’t say anything. I felt discriminated to a certain extent. I so not recommend this u-haul to anyone.

Service people are friendly and helpful here. Location was very convenient for our moving.
I found the Uhaul pricing very confusing though. For the 10 feet truck, the Uhaul website for this location listed $1.09/mi, but the store wanted to charge me $1.39/mi. Later I was told the store system was not updated properly, but the clerk honored their website pricing. The worse is I somehow remember it was a lot cheaper (like $.50/mi) when I reserved it. Unfortunately i didn't have a screen shot for my reservation. The reservation email I got also didn't have the estimates. So strongly recommend to keep some record for your original reservation.

The vehicles never have fuel, which is an inconvenience. The vehicles always reek of cigarettes and smell like someone just finished smoking. The last vehicle had a change oil indicator on and it was being rented.

The manager Maria was very rude and spoke to me poorly via phone after accidentally scheduling my Uhaul for a shorter time frame than the allotted 24 hours. She raised her voice at me which was inappropriate, especially for a manager and with such a reputable company. Otherwise, my service was great and the truck served me well, but she should not feel comfortable speaking to customers this way.

I received the truck with the gas tank on empty on dispatch. The rule is to bring back the truck, the same level of gas as you had initially. We had told an employee to get a different truck with more fuel, but he said there are not available. We had left an empty tank,refueled at a station, and returned it as we had received it.
The next day I receive a receipt with an additional charge of $30 for a few service fee and an additional 68 bucks for 11 gallons of fuel charge. What a complete joke! This is not an accident because some google reviews online have the same situation as mine! I am not giving up until I receive my $99 refund due to overcharging!

I usually don’t do surveys but the customer service at this location was terrible. Very rude manager. The elevator at the facility hasn’t worked in a year. I had to carry my belongings up floor flights of stairs when I initially stored them. I had to carry them down when I left. Worst experience I’ve ever had and I’m not exaggerating. To top it off, the price of my unit increased while I was there. I will never use them again and would not recommend anyone else to.

Truck had an issue with its fuel tank valve that was not discernible until attempting to refuel -- hundreds of miles away -- and having gasoline go everywhere. Calling to the location, I was told I could contact roadside assistance, which would mean a day of wasted time as they take the valve apart and remove whatever blockage was in there. Vehicle also needed oil change and wiper fluid. The vehicle only had 8000 miles. Maintenance must be improved.

There was a small communication issue when I moved out, but overall I had a decent experience.
Los Angeles had a very wet winter (rain) last year and the roof to the building had a leak. The leak went onto my belongings (and other unit’s belongings on the 7th floor) and stained a $500 white sofa that I had in storage that I could no longer use.
I would not recommend that anyone rent a unit on the 7th Floor because repairs to the roof may not have been completed from last winter.

Almost severely hurt by slip and fall in back of truck due to it being filled with grease/oil from previous user. We didn't notice the grease before loading a queen size bed on the back. We returned the truck immediately and the cleaner outside tried to say the truck was clean and that I spilled the grease then when his co-worker came and said no it wasn't clean because the truck was turned in over night, then the liar recanted his lie! I recommend the location because they attempted to make it right and get me another truck and accommodate the situation.

The elevator has been broken for several months.
My unit was on the 5th floor, and I was never notified about the broken elevator.
I had to spend 8 hours moving a 10x10 unit full of heavy boxes down 5 flights of stairs.
I have a knee injury so this was extremely painful. It's been 2 days since the ordeal and I'm unable to walk properly. It's likely that this aggravated my injury. I'll need to return to the hospital for examination.
Also, my unit was completely fenced in. They cut a small hole in the fence with bolt cutters, and I had to crawl in and out with my boxes.
The woman at the facility was condescending and hostile, as if I was the one inconveniencing her.
This experience was appalling.

I received much less than the bare minimum of courtesy and friendliness and was not given any pertinent information at all by her. I received no greeting, I was treated coldly and as if I were an annoying hassle, and overall was treated quite poorly. Mileage and gas at this location is not always accurate. The gas status on check-out on this rental was empty, but the log had it marked as 1/8. The fuel refund was inadequate compared to the inconvenience it caused me as a disabled person.

The hours they state you may access your unit are incorrect. 3times I went to access my unit and 3 times I was met with a locked facility. I work in hospitality and this woman has ZERO skills when it comes to dealing with people…. I’m amazed they let this woman operate a facility. Her management skills truly shine in every employee. I was not at all satisfied with the service I received at this location. First of all, they told me there were no trucks available for out-of-town rentals. They forced me to book an in-town rental which greatly inconvenienced me and nearly doubled the cost of my rental, as well as increased my mileage by 60 miles.
When I arrived, I saw that there were actually plenty of trucks available and it was obvious that they only made me book an in-town truck so they could upsell me.
Upon checking in, the woman I spoke to was VERY rude. She insisted that I was not the person in my ID photo nor the person who booked the rental. The name on my license, the name on my credit card, and the name on the reservation were literally all the same and they all said Rachel Kroll. But she withheld my license for 5 minutes because according to her, I did not look like my ID photo. She called her manager to assist her and even the manager could tell that I was the correct owner of the license. Then, the woman announced to the entire store that I look so different in person compared to my license. That is not good customer service AT ALL.
Finally, we pick up the truck and it SMELLS like cigarettes. Earlier when we had arrived, we saw the truck handler smoking cigarettes while on the job. We did not realize he would be smoking inside the vehicles as well. We had to drive with the windows down to air out the truck. Our truck also had fiber glass inside the main cabin and one of our movers was injured from touching the ceiling of the truck due to the fiber glass.

I was upcharged $10 extra on my rental for gas, even though I drove only 6 miles and the gas meter barely moved. Gas is only $5/gal right now. I definitely didn’t use 2 entire gallons of gas to drive 6 miles. Additionally, the staff wasn’t very helpful, didn’t explain any part of the process to me so I felt pretty confused. Apparently none of the seats on any of their trucks adjust & I was too short to drive the truck. The battery light was blinking on the dash which I was not made aware of. My rental was also not marked as completed once I returned the truck.

Unusually my pad lock was stolen.. how no one knows as there is no camera view on the row where my unit was located.. i know because i saw the monitor inside the office .. luckily nothing was stolen and the staff was fast on applying a loaner lock .. nonetheless i had to purchase another pad lock even though it was not anyone’s fault that somehow it was opened ..surprised and confused.. i do take some accountability in that i had forgotten to punch in and punch out.

I made a reservation for Saturday September 30th for a 10’ van and my reservation originally was at 12pm. I got a call from dispatch that my van was not available for 12pm that it had to be moved for 2pm at a different location that I had originally picked. I wasn’t too happy but I agreed because I needed the van to move. When I got to the location at 2pm there was no van available for me. I was finally given a van at 3:30pm. I had to wait an hour and a half in the store for a van to come in. I am very upset about the situation because as I was told it not their fault that the other customers don’t bring in the vans on time but at the same time I made a reservation and worked my time around that particular schedule and time. I feel like the company didn’t respect my time or the other customers time because there was other customers waiting for their reservations too. Moving is already stressful as it is and Uhaul made it an even worse experience. I would not recommend this service to anyone….. better paying a little more but getting your time respected and being valued as a customer. The employees were very nice but it doesn’t take away from the fact that I wasted an hour and a half while I had family and friends waiting at my apartment to help me move. Hopefully uhaul learns to treat and respect their customers with respect!!!

The elevator is out and. I had no idea in advance I had to pay someone to carry the items I brought upstairs SIX FLOORS I also had to go up and down the stairs several times to resolve issues unrelated to my payment. I spent 800 not knowing other renters have refused to pay. I paid in good faith believing the services I was paying for were still intact. The elevator situation is unacceptable and. U-Haul should consider closing this location or keep the facilities in order.

With the exception of the young Latino male who closed my account for me yesterday, ALL interaction with Manager, Staff & Staff has been appalling! Attendant (vehicles) told me to street park while U-Haul vans were in 1 of the 4 spaces (I was unloading storage). Lot had no clients waiting - his reason: need to finish checking it in. Manager is unapproachable & told me to check out by taking pics - ONLY. I wanted to close the account on exit! Told me "no" that's not how it's done! Tidy premises. Was forced to take a unit OTHER than size I reserved & in the "access only during working hrs area (adjacent to interior "dock"). Do NOT recommend this location.

I didn't like the fact that the units are separated by a fence. One of my boxes with small electronic parts fell and the unit next to mine may jabs some of my parts in it. Also, my TV tipped over and has a small scratch in the glass, now, which wouldn't have happened in the person probably living in the unit next to mine hadn't shaken the fence which slightly bumped what my TV was resting on. The elevator... the slowest elevator on earth. The ramp down to our cars... a pipe sticking out that I often bumped into and the pavement at the bottom of the ramp has a dip in it causing the cart to lean into it enough to make my stuff slide off the cart. The woman that works the office in Thursdays... wonderful. A very nice member of your staff. In fact, all of your staff that I had dealings with were very nice.

Storage unit was found to be filled with copious amounts of rat droppings. Packing paper/boxes had been chewed through, peed on, defecated on...and in one case the decomposed skeletal remains of a mouse were stuck to the side of a box. Absolutely disgusting level of cleanliness at this facility and will not be recommending this location to anyone.

Reserved Unit (size) not available, experienced counter help neglectful & it took over 30 minutes to reserve 2 smaller units WITH NO $ consideration. Furthermore, only units available are restricted to Office Hours
Design flaw: cart to ramp & rate of incline ( both unnecessary & created hardship).
Rental drop offs parked 4 deep on-line preventing access to the 1 (one I tell you!) off loading parkings space & 2 adjacent contained a Usual truck & trailer. Attendants non- responsive to a question after 40 minutes! Put me up against closing time. Can not recommend.
Will not select the "convenience feature" of UHaul Storage again & will speak to others about this.
(I was In uHaul rental, too!)

After going in an out of the storage unit every day for a week, I got to know a few of the staff members - Bruno, Brian and a Latino gentleman, who were helpful and friendly. I felt safe having them around when I left late at night and was happy they were there. The facility elevator was the slowest ever but I was happy that it was working while I was there. I was able to use the carts and dollies, which made life easier. I would recommend this Uhaul location to anyone who asked me.

I checked in and there were homeless people who have storage units there standing by for me to take things up to unit in order to try and take my things. I moved my things out three days after I moved in and I continue to get a bill and calls about payment until today saying sorry to see you go. I called and walked in person the day I checked out to let the manager know. Please clear me out because I have proof including email of my checkout

I keep going back and forth with my reservation and on my drop of location was switched twice with out me knowing and I had to go to another place from downtown where my storage was to Culver City and I was still charge a late fee and I had to pay for a Lyft to go back to my storage

It’s your people that make things happen both the latina woman in general morning and the black woman in the afternoon did their best under the circumstances. In the afternoon the black young woman was such a sweetheart with no one to help her in the overlapping time. She was a one woman show he jeopardizing her safety and any theft.

This was by far my worst moving experience and one that could have been avoided/made less stressful with clearer communication and assistance. I chose this location based on the U-Haul website upon searching for a specific climate-controlled storage space. This location showed as having only 1 left, so I called the 1-800 number immediately and made the reservation for it, noting that we needed a truck as well, referencing the one-month free. Upon arrival during moving day (where we then had to take the rest of our stuff with us on a two-hour drive), I noted the deal to the staff member who flat out said it would not be honored as it didn't apply to our rental (even though we verified everything over the phone). Not only that but our rate was different than what we were quoted, even though I had a confirmation e-mail with our reservation and rate. This all seemed suspicious but we had to get going with the move, so I resigned to having to deal with it the next day over the phone. I was then given my key card and tried to get to our storage room. Our key card didn't work (the rep told me it takes a few minutes -- but it ended up not working the whole time). When we got to our floor, it was hot and damp (clearly not climate controlled) and the storage did not match what we saw online. Instead of private rooms, they storage areas were cages where you could see everything inside AND the chain linked fences had openings in them. I looked at the receipt the staff member printed out for me and it said "No Climate". At this point, it was a comedy of errors. I went back down and even the staff member said this was all wrong but there was nothing she could do. We finished our move, reluctantly leaving our stuff in a cage without climate control (luckily we sold our refrigerator last minute the day before, otherwise it would be in there now). As directed, I called the GM the next day to try and have this amended somehow. Though Yolanda verified that we actually did qualify for the one month free, there was nothing that could be done about the change in reservation. Apparently, even though you reserve ahead of time -- it is still on a first come, first serve basis IN PERSON (which makes no sense, why would you show on your website that you only have "1 left" when making a reservation; that implies you are snatching up the last available spot for that specific category you checked off during your search -- in our case, climate control). Yolanda apparently honored our initial rate with a monthly discount to match (though we have yet to receive email confirmation) and now have to wait and see if a climate controlled room opens up, which we then can only confirm in person. A move is stressful already and was only made more so by a flawed reservation system and lackluster staff that, while friendly, failed to make things right during our move. I would not recommend this storage facility (or U-Haul for that matter) to anyone.
