I did receive a text to click a link to return but there was not a link attached to the text and the website did not allow me to return in the timeframe I wanted (within a few hours of initial rental) I had to come back the next day and finish the return process because my location that night would not allow me to return it as I was not in the same location as the trailer.

KATHY SThere were several issues with my rental. The starting mileage was off by 13 miles (significant when I only put 15 miles on the rental). I stopped and called after traveling 1 mile and had to go back to straighten out the mileage issue. Next, when I returned, I sat out at the return station (as per the sign - Remain with the vehicle and someone will come out) for 10 minutes and assumed they were busy. I finally went in and there were no customers and first they claimed the "sensor" wasn't working and they apparently couldn't be bothered to look up at the monitor to see a truck in the check in spot. Next, they said I was short on the gas amount (I drove 15 miles and put in 1.33 gallons of gas) until I showed them the picture I took before I left the lot (also how I proved the mileage was wrong) that the gas gauge was right where it was when I left. I have had problems at this location before with poorly trained employees. The woman in charge was very helpful and made things right but the support employees are not not helpful because they aren't well trained - this is on U-Haul. I don't know if this is a company owned location or franchise - as the customer, I really don't care - it is U-Haul's responsibility to make sure each location has well trained/managed employees who have basic customer service skills.

Dianna GThis was the "Escalade" of UHaul experiences! I have rented many trucks and vans from UHaul over the years but this is the first move where I've needed a storage unit. As it happened, I wound up renting at two locations so I could really compare. The other was much more inconvenient. It required punching in a code at two panels to gain initial entry. Then I had to punch in a code to go through the door each time. It had only one loading ramp for cars (at a steep angle for those rolling carts... a few ran away from me and one hit another car). So, when I rented the small overflow unit from Bill Thompson's location, I was blissfully surprised. Driving into a heated bay was like taking a deep breath and regrouping. Seriously. I would drive in and just sit for a few minutes (moving is not my favorite thing). Compare that to the other location, where I had to go outside in the freezing blustery wind and sometimes chase carts... well, there just is no comparison. And I haven't even mentioned the differences inside the facility! Ooolala! If I had not rented the units simultaneously the differences might not have been so stark. But if I ever need another unit I will always use E. Grandview for my storage needs. Also, I have rented vehicles from this location several times over the years, and from the other location only recently. As can be expected, there are sometimes discrepancies in fuel levels and mileage when taking out a vehicle. E. Grandview has always been gentlemanly about it and not given me a hard time about adjusting the error. Overall, I want to give a shout out to Bill Thompson's excellent management and team. Of all my moves, this one was particularly difficult. He and his team were so compassionate (and competent). They really went the extra mile and delivered what I can only describe as world-class customer service. Not something you generally think of when it comes to truck rentals and storage. Thank you so much! ☺️❤️

When I returned the vehicle a few minutes before closing, the woman at the door (different than the one at check in) made sure to let me know it was almost closing time, as if I did something wrong by bringing the vehicle right before 7pm. I didn't expect any paperwork back - I was ok with getting it emailed the next day. I just wanted to give them the keys. She ruined the whole experience for me. This would have been a 5 star review if the woman didn't make me feel like I did something wrong when returning the vehicle.

The guy that checked me in asked where I parked it and I told him, and he actually ridiculed me. “Then you missed about 8 signs that told you where to park it.” For ridiculing a customer and giving them a bad experience, I cannot recommend U-Haul. I won’t return there. So I left and went to look for the signs he said I missed. There were some signs. They said “Equipment return”. That made me even more irritated. I rented a van, or a truck, or a rental, or a vehicle. I didn’t rent “equipment”. Nobody calls it equipment. So here’s where it stands. You’re using internal language on your signs and not calling it what the general public would call it. Then when someone doesn’t understand the sign, they get ridiculed/humiliated in front of other people. What reason would I have to ever walk into a U-Haul again. I can’t think of a compelling enough situation to face that kind of arrogance. Maybe when that guy quits I’d try it again. But how would I even know when he’s gone?

Heidi RI rented the 10’ truck one way from South Bend to Jamestown NY for a drop off return in Erie PA. Due to be returned July 16, 300 pm, but I returned the rental ahead of schedule last Friday , July 14 th. The Erie staff inspected the truck and put windshield cover and told me that I was good to go. Yesterday I received message at 430pm from Erie PA U haul stating that they are still waiting for the rental return. Also I received notice from my bank with a charge of $53.20. I was annoyed for them not processing the receiving the rental and in addition charging me for their being ineffective of not closing out and not doing their work. I asked the Erie staff if I couldget a discount for returning vehicle early?

The AC would not blow out-of the vents. It would only blow towards the windshield. When I returned the truck and mentioned it to the gentleman inspecting the truck, he said it was a known issue. Why rent out a truck that has an issue like that? That is just unacceptable.

I don’t like to use names on these posts as I don’t know if they are public people. There have been 8 out of 10 interactions with corporate UHaul locations that were literally the most inept customer service interactions I’ve experienced in the past 20 years. Embarrassing and Shameful. Three people that have been outstanding are the two I mentioned earlier, and also Matt from the Pittsburgh Road location. I have responded in detail about UHaul in the past two weeks. I’ve explained exactly where and how I experienced problems some of which were of epic proportions. Some of them should have generated legal action, and still may as it has cost me significantly due to your absolutely vacuous ‘cancellation’ policy. UHaul cancelled another legitimate, documented reservation that left me with a 48’ trailer that was to deliver directly to my reservation. I got an email from UHaul that said ‘we are sorry you cancelled your reservation’ and I didn’t cancel anything. UHaul did. If anything I have ever written to UHaul has been read or contemplated, my suggestion is fix the cancellation policy. It is absolutely the best way to lose customers is to affect their lives and livelihoods when they make a reservation in good faith, and credit cards, only to arrive with their belongings and find out the ‘system’ cancelled their space. No reason given, yet you take the time to email a ‘gee, we’re sorry you cancelled…’ Suggestion. Since these cancellations occur and peoples lives are affected AND you have the temerity to auto email them. How about firing your system, and the manager who implemented it. Change the message that is automatically emailed to regret the UHaul location cancelled you, and send an email that says ‘Dear Valued Customer, we need you to contact us to confirm that you are planning to arrive….etc’. Same time you use to automatically cancel a KNOWN client, put the responsibility on them to re-confirm please. If we don’t hear from you by this time, we will cancel your reservation.’ How hard is THAT? Check with your legal staff because as you do thing now, you are putting in writing that we canceled. That’s a material misrepresentation, you are breaking a contract of Adhesion, and you are flat out lying that we canceled. Think about it folks. One small tweak and you keep a client, or do nothing and keep rolling the dice that you won’t get sued. Once you understand how an Adhesion contract works, you may realize that there is a huge financial loss just waiting to happen. This will be my last response to a ‘how did we do’ email. This bunch of verbiage is what I charge $3,000 a day for. There is not a lawyer nor risk manager, not litigation expert that will disagree with what I’ve written. If I post this online which is highly probable because you can’t keep messing up peoples lives with no repercussions. If you want to sue me for liable or slander, go for it. In that type of legal action, UHAUL simply has to prove that what I’ve posted is untrue. That’s all. The defense I respond with is simply using the emails from UHAUL, unaltered, and it’s over for you. That’s how libel and slander works. No, I do not have any wish to get in a legal battle with you. I’m simply sharing my experience and expertise in this area, hoping you get your act together. Fire the email personnel who thought automated cancellations were a smart move. Then look in the mirror. Your business can help or ruin peoples life plans. Don’t forget that. People. Families. Cancelled life plans that are ruined by a dumb email practice. Do better UHaul. This little disclaimer is useless by the way. We can reply to you and you can potentially contain it, or we just post it on FB, SC, TW. Freedom of speech wins. As far as calling the store ? Try it yourself. A manager and I tried for one straight hour, during normal business hours, it goes to corporate VM after TWO minutes. They don’t call back. Nice try.

And we also shouldn’t be pressured into returning a vehicle or fifth wheeler it’s an inconvenience. It’s and international organization and I’m not responsible for how it’s run. Kyle C | First ImpressionsI’m not sure if anyone else even works at this uhaul facility because Tiarra was the only employee I ever saw and she is FANTASTIC. I was in my storage unit and saw a cockroach when I brought it to the facilities attention Tiarra was the only one concerned. It took a call to customer care and multiple calls to Tiarra to get anyone to call me back on the matter. The lack of concern from the General Manager, Ryan, was terrible there was no concern. I felt like I was bothering him when there were cockroaches in my unit. The only reason I rated this review poor was because of the general manager, if I could just review about Tiarra I would because she is fantastic and really knows how to handle guest issues.

When I went to in-person service, they were very courteous, efficient, and helpful and resolved the problem. The online system needs to be corrected to solve this problem. Otherwise, I had no problems and was very satisfied in the end.
