My comments are not necessarily about this location. It is about the reason I wound up at the location. I have rented from Uhaul for YEARS...decades, even. I usually use the Gretna location at Oakwood. On the day of this rental, for the second week IN A ROW, Oakwood called me less than an hour before my pickup time to tell me they didn't have my van for me, and had no other vehicles available. Less than an hour ahead of time...ridiculous! I know from my past dealings with Uhaul that they are supposed to notify me at least 24 hours in advance when there may be a problem. Two rentals in a row, two weeks in a row, I got last minute calls and NO ASSISTANCE LOCATING ANOTHER RENTAL. I was forced to do a mad dash search for another van on my own time. I'm sure you know the old saying "time is money"...well, in the last two weeks, Uhaul has cost me money, as well as the stress and anxiety of having to find another van so that I could honor signed contracts! It's bad enough that this happened once, but worse that it happened twice in a row. It's also terrible that I got no assistance from the Oakwood staff, and in fact, I felt that they were pretty indifferent to my plight. In fact, this last time they called, when I asked the caller why this was happening for a second week in a row, her response was simply "that's just the way it is."...really? This is NOT the kind of customer service I'm accustomed to, it is not the way I expect to be treated as a long-time loyal customer. I am extremely dissatisfied with Uhaul right now, and am looking into your competition to see if I will be better served with them. Again, let me be clear that the Lapalco location was great, and helped me out last minute, despite having their computer system crash (that's a complaint for another time). I am satisfied with Lapalco, but VERY DISSATISFIED with Oakwood, and with Uhaul in general. I am very interested in your response to my complaint, and should say that your response will dictate weather or not I switch to your competitors.
