When picking up the vehicle, I was told that the fuel tank on the van was full, and that I would have to fill the tank before returning. I drove 30km, and before returning to the depot, filled the tank which took 15.7L of gas. When I spoke with the desk agent at the location, I basically received a lecture on how I should have only put in enough fuel to return to the full mark on the gauge, and that there was nothing they would do to assist with the extra cost associated with the fuel. It would have been quite helpful if the agent that provided me with the vehicle specified that returning the vehicle "with a full tank" didn't actually mean filling the tank, and equally helpful if the manager I spoke with chose to talk to me with some semblance of understanding and a hint of respect.

I was frustrated to be told (and on paper contract) a 7:00 pm return would result in a 1 day fee but on arrival @ 6:00, I was charged a day and half rental because it had to be back at 4:00pm on rentals less than a two day duration

The guys working were quick. They had a quick check to see if the lights were working before they disconnected. I parked the jeep, went inside, 5 min later im driving away with my deposit. On top of this, i find your website informative and user friendly. I knew my jeep and hitch was compatible before i even called. Moving two vehicles with just myself saved me time and money. I am impressed with the service and product. The only thing negative about my experience is, when the loading ramps on the car dolly are tucked away and pinned for travel they make a really loud banging when you drive over the littlest bump. It is loud wheather the dolly is loaded or not. I was going to stuff some cardboard in ontop of the ramp to prevent it from bouncing and banging. But thought it could be a potential traffic hazard if it came loose. Other than that the product is quite rigid.

Excellent service--I had some problem with my car's trailer lighting wiring, which the technician fixed on the spot, cheerfully and at no charge. I always use this location for the variety of gear they have and for the tech support.

I was renting a 12' utility trailer, first call to this location forwarded me to a call center, I told the person on the phone what I needed. She did up the reservation and because I was hauling a 14' aluminum boat I did ask if there were straps provided for this trailer she said yes. I asked if she was sure she said yes. She booked a trailer. I looked at the reservation she sent me it was for a covered trailer. I called the store again, I asked them to change the reservation to the correct product and they did. I asked again if straps were provided, again I was told yes. When I picked up the trailer I asked the clerk at the counter if the straps were with the trailer, he looked at me like I was from outer space. I did explain to him I asked several different people about the straps. His response was absolute indifference, I did try to not get angry but he just stood there with no expression, no response, except there were clips to use for straps on the trailer. Consequently I had to spend 40.00 on straps, if I had known I could have gotten them else where. I would suggest you give employees the correct information and maybe some training in customer service in dealing with customers that have been given the wrong information.

The service was excellent. My only complaint is that there was no parking for my vehicle while I had the moving van for 3 hours. Had I been informed of that while booking the truck, I could have been dropped off to save me the time of parking my own vehicle way up the street and walking back to the UHaul lot. It was my first time renting from that location, so I had no idea.

Make sure when the vehicles go out, they r well maintained, is all. my concern would have bin the brakes. every time i put the brakes on, they squealed, every time. i also felt that when i stepped on the brakes, it seemed to favor the left side. now, i'm not no mechanic and i shouldn't b diagnosing anything but the noise and pull would of made me feel much safer as i drove a fair distance on the hwy.

Extremely disappointed when I showed up to my storage unit to empty it, only to find out that I had to pay almost another $300. When asking a customer to sign something (on a digital pad without seeing the fine print), and not explain the terms, is horrible when the customer gives you the information that you will need to ensure that all information is exchanged. I had originally asked for a climate controlled unit and they gave me unit 1247 (as detailed on my rental agreement) but when I showed up there, someone else's' belongings were in there. I was given another unit that was NOT climate controlled. My rental agreement was never amended to show the correct unit number and some of my belongings are damp, mouldy and unsalvageable. Horrible service from the people that checked me in on Sept 26th and for not putting the notes on my file for the checkout date that I gave them (which was Nov 1) on the date that I arrived there. I understand that people need training and need to be trained upon hiring them, but not at my expense of almost $300! I should have had the option to pay ahead of time for the additional days that I needed, and not show up on moving day to empty the unit, only to be told that it was locked and that I had to pay for a FULL MONTH just to get into my unit. I understand the rules and regulations, but when they knew ahead of time that I needed this storage, the option should have been give to me to pay in advance! Then to rent another truck on Nov 1 - I paid $100 cash (debit) and was told that if the full amount wasn't necessary, that I would get a refund. Nobody contacted me to confirm that the truck was ok or that I would get a refund, or the amount. I found out from the manager when I called to complain about the unit from September 26th, that I had to go BACK into the store to get my refund! This should be automatic if on debit/visa. Not cost me more money in gas and mileage to come back in. So frustrated with this process, this company and the service. Extremely dissatisfied with this location!!!

You should give your client a consideration! I rented a truck last friday and supposed to bring it back saturday 4pm and inwas late 2 hours and they charge me 2 days for the truck for just 2 hours over even no one is rented a truck until sunday afternoon!

When I picked up the truck there were only two people working the front counter and a lineup to the door. It took 45 minutes to pickup the truck. Overall the staff were friendly and knowledgeable and I was satisfied with the vehicle.

There seems to be an extreme lack of organization at this location, there should be a process put in place when an employee contacts a customer it should be noted for all staff to view. I received 5 phone calls on the same matter from different employees. We had a scheduled 2 hour window of time to complete a hitch install (8;30am to 10:30am) my wife was there until 12:40...this is not acceptable. Our time has a value attached to it as well...would love to receive a response on this. Thanks Dave

I originally made the reservation for pick-up at the 221 Pleasant Street location as it was closer and more convenient. I received a confirmation and spoke with the owner at this location and was assured everything was ready for my 9 AM pickup at his location and he kindly provided directions. However, the day prior to pick-up - I received a call from the Windmill Road location stating the pick-up location had changed due to no availability at the Pleasant Street location. I arrived for pick-up at the Windmill Road location and all went very well - with the notable exception that i received a call from the Pleasant Street owner late in the day asking when I would be by to pick-up the trailer at HIS (Pleasant Street) location - I felt badly that he did not get my business at his location as it was far more convenient for me to have done so. Not sure how the miscommunication on the U-Haul side happened - but the dealer on Pleasant street was impacted.

I arrived and waited in line to get served. They told me go outside and they'll hook you up. Went outside and they hooked up a 4'x8' - I went inside to pay and the customer service rep said they needed to hook up a 5'x8'. So I went back outside and waited for a 5'x8' to be put on. Then needed to go wait in line again to pay for trailer. It all worked out in the end, but I needed to wait in line 3 times which was a little longer then I had expected.

The main issue at this location is the extended wait times which are completely unnecessary. If UHaul used a more online system, no one would have to wait for their rental truck. The second issue is that you are supposed to be renting the truck for the day but they are now limiting you to whatever hours you think it might take which is inappropriate. It just seems to be a way for UHaul double or triple their fee for the day. I thought the UHaul agent was just asking out of interest. I didn't make a contract to only x number of hours. This should be reported and reviewed. When I dropped off the vehicle the UHaul agent did everything online and it took less than 5 minutes. That is the way it should be inside as well. There are way too few agents indoors to take care of the lines. I waited for over 15 minutes and I still wasn't in the truck until ten past nine (I arrived at 8:30).

they charge 24$ or fuel and the fuel was was just little less it's not even less than 4ltr . charging $24 for that gas is just too much. i will never use u-haul again and also tell friends not to prefer it. it was very bad experience as customer service as well. they just don't care about customers.

The truck was very old. I will say that the truck was even not fit for road to be specific that truck even will not pass the safety inspection. The truck wasn't even not able to do 40 km at 35 km speed truck starts bubling. The fuel guage wasnt correct.

The truck I was provided was very old and worn. It had well over 200,000 kilometers on it. I could barely get it to go 80-90 kilometers per hour up hill.The transmission shifted very rough, it was very loud, the suspensions was very rough and I could often smell exhaust fumes in the cab. I was continually concerned that the rough ride was going to cause damage to my move items or that I was going to be broke down. The funny thing was that I happened to notice a much newer 26 foot truck passing me on the highway and it was almost embarrassing as the people going past me were laughing! After I thought about my rental requirement I expect I was provided such an old (and I expect nearly decommissioned) truck because I was going less than 100k. I suspect had I said at the distance I was going was much further (say 500k) that I would have gotten a much newer vehicle. That's it. Thanks for asking for my feedback.

I rented a motorcycle trailer for the weekend and experienced a flat tire as the trailer sat for a day. This was not a problem as I had a tire pump, but when I called the dealership on Sunday at 4:12 pm to let them know not to re-rent the trailer on Monday as the tire was going flat, I could barely get the young man on the phone to reply to my discussion. He could have cared less. This dealership has always had top notch service and I enjoy the people there a lot, a good bunch, but it goes to show how one employee who does not care can cause damage to a hard earned reputation. Due to the high volume of customers we did not receive the Truck we had requested. No one from U-haul called ahead of time to let us know and we could not get through ourselves to speak with someone. We requested a 17' truck and all that was available was the largest 26' truck or a cargo van. Driving through the streets of downtown Halifax with a truck of that size is just not feasible. I suggest adding more trucks to your fleet in the 10-17' range. The cargo van ended up being only $10 cheaper than the 26' truck, AND we were only allowed to have it for 3.5 hrs, not a full day, as someone else had it booked for 1pm! We did not receive our $50 discount which your website promises if the vehicle we booked is not there for us. All in all not the best uhaul experience we've had. We'll be booking with another company that can meet their guarantee.

When they call to confirm pick up and drop off, and the pickup location and drop off location changes. They should be updating the drop off location on file. I was told over the phone to drop it off at 5280 Green Street, South End of Halifax which was a block over from where I was, instead of dropping it off in Dartmouth. So based on that information I changed plans because the drop off was closer. When I called the 1-800 number they said I could not drop it off in Halifax because it was full. So therefore I had to waste an hour of my time traveling to Dartmouth and rearrange all my plans because of this. I think next time if they verbally confirm over the phone the pick up and drop off location, they should update my file. I lost a lot of time and cost me more money because of this. Other than that everything was fine.

Check the truck for mechanical issues the truck aircondioner did not work witch made the 1800km trip more unpleasant then it needed to be. Also uhaul called the day before to find out when i would be in to pick up the truck but when i arrived the truck was not ready.

The manager was incredibly rude. We are upgraded to a 26 ft truck and not informed until the day before. She was rude when we inquired about other options. When we mentioned the increase in gas costs she denied the possibility was condescending until I was able to explain the obvious increase in gas cost an increase of 9feet will cost. By the time we finally got what we needed she had kept us there over an hour longer than we expected and has left us swearing off U Haul.

We rented a 5 x 8 trailer on two occasions at the end of August to move daughter to St. F. X. First was August 23rd - at which time employee of UHaul installed our ball mount for us. We had no problem on that day. The next Tuesday August 30th we went back to same location - we had left the ball mount on, had not removed it or touched it since the 23rd - very busy day as the busy university move in week. Employee of UHaul hooked up the trailer for us. Drove to Antigonish,unloaded and started to drive back. Just before we hit the divided section of the 104 my daughter said there was something wrong with the trailer. It was swinging back and forth. My husband pulled off the highway and the only thing holding the trailer to the car was the chains. The pin mechanism holding the ball mount into hitch mount was gone. We were all quite shaken up thinking of the what if's. We unchained the trailer and my husband drove to New Glasgow to buy new pin mechanism, while we stayed with the trailer on side of highway. When we got back to UHaul, and my husband explained what happened, we did not like how "lightly" it was taken by CSR we dealt with. The trailer could have swung into oncoming traffic and killed some one. Or it could have tipped forcing our car off the road and possibly injuring/killing one of us. We do believe that the second day of pick up, with it so busy (we had to wait almost an hour to get to the counter for service, with a reservation), that somehow this trailer was not hooked up right. We have not had any issues until this day

We reserved a 10 foot truck and where told when we went to pick it up that the were told that that we had been upgraded to at 15 foot truck. When I said that was not what we rented the girl behind the counter became defensive and told me she told me that when we talked the day before. I actually apologized because I could not remember hearing that in our conversation. We were moving our son from Halifax to St. John's and only needed something that would move a bedroom. We explained to them that we did not need the 15 foot and would have to pay extra to take that on the ferry - I did mention that a van would better suit our needs but understand they are only for local rental. The manager said we could take a van to Newfoundland but dictated where we needed to drop the vehicle off (even though we had already said where it was most convenient for us to drop it off. Thank goodness it was the same location). After working all day and going to pick up the uhaul - when we got home we saw there was a message on our answering machine telling us we were upgraded to a 15 foot truck. I was upset because the girl at uhaul had made me believe (even though I couldn't remember)} that she had discussed this with me and I apologized for not hearing it. I will take responsibility for something I am responsible for but this was beyond!! She made me feel guilty and stupid for not remembering a conversation we never had!! This is not the first time we have had issues with uhaul. When we were moving our son from Sussuex to St. John NB we rented a uhaul but were told the day before it was not possible (cancelled. We rented a pick up instead and had to do 3 trips - 1 hour return - in order to move him) If there was someone else we could rent from we would do it in a heart beat because we truly believe that people are honest but when we rent a vehicle from uhaul they really don't think that what we rent we really need and end up making us jump through hoops or finding alternated rental options at the 11th hour. I have never recommended uhaul to any of my friends.

Just have all the representatives have access to the same information, I was told different prices, even when I can drop off the van, I had it for 7 days originally but kept it for 11, but the day it was due back was different depending on who I spoke to, confusion when I returned it over whether it was a return or pickup which wasted a lot of my time. I also think keeping a vehicle 11 days, AND paying $.49 per mile is ridiculous, but overall I tried sticking to 1 rep who was amazing, and I found the experience to be one I am definitely willing to do again for my next event. I am extremely happy with the entire experience, it was a great piece of equipment, it got returned cleaner than I got it, (was charged a $8 fuel charge even tho I know it was filled to same level), not worried about that tho. Again, would and will definitely be using the same location and business for all future needs. I have been using these guys for about 20 years whenever I needed something bigger than a car/truck... Only ever had 1 bad experience in all that time, so I do recommend them to many other of my contacts. Thanks UHAUL team...

The paperwork is painfully slow. It only took a few minutes to attach the trailer but half an hour waiting for the paperwork even after all the time spent on line the night before! Your map has four locations in Halifax which would have been more convenient but none had trailers.

My reservation was changed without notice and made my moving day more stressful. It was not possible to compromise on the day of the rental because there were no leftover/buffer trucks available to fill in for errors like these. The clerk told me contact was probably attempted and did not care that I had received no such warning. He did politely inform me that if I was late I would be charged $300.00. I was cautious to reserve with uhaul, and my caution has been justified. It's worth the extra money to rent elsewhere.

They changed the truck I requested from 15 to 20 feet, I had 2000 kms to drive and did not want the 20 foot. Their service guy was good and arranged for a 17 foot, though it was at the cost of another customer. Blankets were filthy and stunk, they had no hand truck and gave me a rusty old appliance hauler. Truck was fair, but brutal on gas. There is always good and bad but I was not too impressed.

Dartmouth location was not the most convenient for me, the rep on the phone told me that my friend and driver who came to pick up the truck would only need his drivers license on him. She neglected to mention he would also need my Visa card with him over the phone, he had to bus for an hour to get to the location and was almost turned away when he got there. It took several calls to get the rep he felt with to speak with me on the phone and take my payment by phone. Otherwise I was happy with the service.

The dome light in the back didn't work and I moved at night, ha to use cell phones for light and then the battery was dead when we were done even though we didn't use the broken light. Then thy over charge me or fuel when thy did the check in

Couldn't ask for better service. Stood in line for a few minutes while another customer was being served but when I got to the counter, it was my appointment time. I told the clerk I was going to wait for the hitch to be installed (online it stated one should leave the car for 3 hours, but I was told it would only take 30 minutes). Shown the waiting room upstairs (which seemed a bit like a staff lunch room, and was in a off limits area with a key pad to access it) and 20 minutes later I was told me that the hitch was installed and I was on my way. Very impressed. One thing that took me back when I arrived at the facility though was the congestion in the parking lot. At that time there were two U-Haul vehicles parked in the laneway which made getting in to park my car very challenging. I drove between two vehicles and I found a spot in front of some U-Haul trucks. I walked to the front door and saw that here had been a parking space free but it hadn't been accessible to me at the time. When I left, the lot seemed to have cleared of the congestion. Cost of hitch, taxes in and installed was less than the cost of the hitch alone at Canadian Tire, so I was happy about that (saved $10 by booking online as well)

30 minutes wait to get to the counter. Thankfully I had a reservation. Ahead of me was a guy without one that waited for nothing, and behind me was a guy buying boxes. When it's busy I'd recommend dedicating lines to those with reservations and a separate one for simple transactions / inquiries.

My reservation was messed up in the system, saying it had been changed to a cargo van. I had my receipt as proof of my reservation, so I was given a 10' truck as ordered, but was forced to go from a 5 hour reservation to 2.5. This was a major inconvenience and I was treated as if I was being done a favor for actually getting the 10' truck. In my opinion, it was poorly handled and I will be taking my business elsewhere in the future.

The truck was not safe to drive,had to be boosted twice because it wouldn't start,steering and brake were ineffective and downright dangerous.If I had more time I would have had the police do a roadside inspection,where the would have most certainly have towed the truck away as it was not safe to drive.I have been a class 1 driver for over 35 years.The truck I rented will hurt someone if it is not removed from service.

Im frustrated with the service I received. I only rented an appliance trolly amd a furniture trolly. $17 plus tx. I was simply told to drop them off on Sunday. I rented them Saturday morning. I had no idea you were open before noon and was not told a specific time for drop off. So I returned them when I had a free few minutes around 3pm assuming I had till close the next day. I was charged for two days. I did not need them for that long and prepaid for one day. This was not explained and I do not think I should have to pay for two days as a result. Regards Cindy

When leaving phone messages make sure you speak slowly when giving your phone no. and repeat it. Given your phone number is no longer in the yellow pages, and I'm tired of doing the hard work to contact you, it is important!! Wireless system upstairs didn't work and 1.5 hours to do the work - I was charged for 2 hours of installation. I don't think that's fair. Otherwise thank you for the excellent service on the things that are most important - hitch installation.

Make sure trucks are up to proper mechanical standards. The air conditioning failed. Front steering was very sloppy, loose, and extremely hard time to keep truck on road. Truck was clean.

Try make this short. I called for a estimate for a hitch gave my info and received a few calls over a few week span and I told them I would call when I was ready. I then called and talked to a guy there to find out the lady who took my info didn't even have the model of my car right and was going to put on the wrong hitch, so we got that fixed he gave me my new quote said they had them in so I made my appointment got the confirmation of my appointment it was all good. It was for 08/09/2016 at 1:00 pm. I took the afternoon off work to get this done so I showed up for them to tell me they didn't have one and then said my appointment was not until next week,and also they had a broken hitch that they needed parts for. I showed them my quote and appointment that I had and they still told me I was wrong they didn't update. So what I think they broke a hitch used mine and didn't have time to replace it with a new one and then tried to tell me I had it wrong. So would I and will I tell anybody to go there, no way in hell it was the the worst customer services I think I ever had I didn't even get a sorry Sir we messed up.

The one way drop off at the other end in Shediac New Brunswick was the problem with this move.Your outlet there after droping it off on a sunday charged more then they should have.My poor wife aa exhausted as she was swept and cleaned that truck thoroughly before droping off the keys.He charged us for more sweeping today when he opened and did his check. We're extremely displeased.He even charged more like $25 for more gas that we shoiuldn't of had to pay for, the tank was put at the same level of gas as it had when we picked it up, He also said we were over on kilometers 60 and our whole trip in the allowable 371 kilometers wasn't over at all, over billed and are disputing this further with your customer service people.I'll never leave a drop ever again with out being present with your outlet there. He's taking money out of my pocket.Got two more trips of the same nature coming up, if this doesn't get rectified I'll be tsking my business somewhere else,my honesty and cleanliness has been insalted by these crazy extra costs that I have no control over.My regards Darrell Graham

I had booked the vehicle to have a trailer hitch. Who I arrived at my destination, I realized it was not installed. It was a big inconvenience which added to my mileage and driving time. A check list for staff to review prior to leaving the site for special items would be ideal.

upon return of the rental truck - the gas was an issue. I traveled 12 miles and ended up putting $35 of gas in the vehicle. I`d recommend changing your vehicle policy to returning on a full tank

We had a 20` truck full. They told us it would fit in a 10x10 unit. It did not fit. This caused a lot of extra work for us. Even after asking several times they insisted the unit was big enough.

The staff member that served us was named Rowena. She was friendly, funny, and very helpful. She was very busy but still maintained professional and still smiled through it all. We are very satisfied.

All of the advertisement on the U-Haul website shows that access to the storage should be 24/7 INCLUDED with the price. This is not the case. The staff refused to resolve this issue.

Charged wrong credit card without my signing for it Closed storage early. Messed up rental dates and charged me 3 days early. Double charged me one month and took days to resolve.

Gate to unit was not opened on time. Poor lighting. Extremely poor access to unit. Rat trap inside the unit with signs of water damage.

Over-priced. $80+ for 5`x5` space. Paying extra for 24/7 swipe-card access? Forget it! Having to buy my own lock which is completely useless after I`ve left? Hardly worth the investment.

More explanation as to how to access the facility and how to arm/disarm the system when accessing the unit would be helpful. I set off the alarm a couple of times due to insufficient instructions.

Only complaint, we added 24 hour access when we were ready to move our furniture into our new place, but, when we arrived with two vehicles to unload some stuff, our access card was denied access.

Many late charges paid at the fault of staff not linking the credit number to a monthly automatic withdrawl. Then staff not in the position to correct this immediately.
