This transaction went smoothly but only because I selected the option of billing the credit card I made the reservation with. On a PREVIOUS transaction, about 2 weeks ago, the inside staff spent almost 20 minutes trying to charge my debit card. I could however see them cancelling the transaction. Turns out they were too lazy to process the refund to my credit card, despite telling me when I picked up the car that there would be no charges on the card until I returned the vehicle. The credit card company quite clearly showed the date and the time of the transaction on the day I picked up the vehicle. The staff should have just said they had already charged the card instead of wasting my time pretending the debit machine was not working. Quite clearly it was, for the customer before and the customer right after me and there was no problem with my card!!!!

I think you could improve upon getting people their vehicles quicker by having more than one counter person. He is very good but because of the length of protocol he has to follow it takes a bit of time. Most people want to get moving so waiting to get checked through needs to be a quicker process.

The trailer we got was pretty banged up and the rear door leaked which got some of the items wet. I'm sure this particular trailer was chosen because it likely wouldn't be coming back as this was a one way rental. However, since we were driving such a far distance it would have been nice to have a trailer that didn't leak!!

I was hoping to pick up from a closer point (this was a 20km round trip). I spent more time travelling from the UHaul place than between my old and new homes. The branch was clean and the staff good. I'd have preferred not to have had to leave my car on a dark sideroad (and later pick it up on the dark side road!) The video for check in doesn't play on all cell phone browsers and sitting in a (dark) parking lot trying to figure it out is not ideal. Simple, written instructs are better.

I received a call from U-Haul two days before I was supposed to move changing the location of where I was to pick up my truck. It was 20 minutes further away than where I was moving from/to (which were both only 5 minutes max from the location I initially booked it) and also told me that I no longer had the truck for 24 hours, but only 19 (when you're picking up a truck at 5pm, returning it at 12 noon the next day is harder to do than 5pm when your plans and helpers were already booked). They told me on the phone that the person who had the U-Haul booked before me, extended their hours with it so that bumped me out of that location. I was very unimpressed as this was highly inconvenient not only for my time but also my wallet as the gas mileage was more. They gave me a $0.20 discount on the mileage but that was it. The location I actually picked the truck up from were great to deal with but I am not impressed with the service beforehand. 2 days notice is not nearly enough time when ALL of my moving plans became unhinged. My movers that I booked for the next morning to move me were not available the night I picked up the truck so I had to get some family members to help. The whole experience was just poorly dealt with. My suggestion for all future bookings? Don't allow someone to extend the hours with a truck if someone is booked after them without either a) confirming with the next person it's okay or not or b) making the original booker go to the other location instead since they are the ones being the inconvenience.

The size I RESERVED was not available. Uhaul bumped me to a larger size. A larger size is not helpful, especially when driving a very long distance. It was too long. And it cost more in gas. We had way too much space. When I was about to drive off with the truck at the pickup location, the employees said it was ready to go and that all the packing supplies were in the back of the truck. I had them check it just in case. Good thing because the truck was empty. Had to wait for them to get the supplies. After speaking with friends and family about my experience, they all told me their bad experiences with uhaul as well. I'm really annoyed with you. And I was refused that $50 compensation that you supposedly guarantee for your fuck ups.

There isn't anything wrong with this location but I had reserved a truck at the cole Harbour location but when I went there the store was closed. After calling Uhaul, I was told that I was supposed to pick up the truck at Windmilll. Nobody ever mentioned this to us. We had people showing up to help us and had to make them wait while we scrambled to the new location to pick up the truck. We waisted an hour of everybody's time. No compensation was given even after explaining that the reason we picked the first location was because it was close to where we live. Same thing happened last year when we used Uhaul. Not impressed at all!!!!!

The price that I was quoted on the phone did not match the price that was given to me at the pickup location. They also did not have the correct information and it kept changing time and time again.....I was quoted $160.00 for a rental of 3 days...it was supposed to include the insurance for that time according to the gentleman I spoke to on the phone. When I went to pickup my vehicle, it was for 4 days and the cost was almost double, even when the dates were changed to correctly show 3 days the cost was more then a hundred dollars over what I was quoted. This seems to be a regular occurrence....which is becoming more and more understandable with your customers being more and more upset and inconvenienced at the time delays of straightening out their orders. When I spoke to the one who made the reservation, I stipulated several times that my booking was for June 30th pickup at 6:30pm and returning July 3rd 6:30pm...for a total of 3 days, I also insisted that the insurance be added in the price quote...and was told it would be at 15.00 per day for a total of 45.00 added to my 19.99 per day for the rental and the 250km I was quoted 160.00 plus tax...What I ended up paying was 244.06 there is quite a difference in cost....and the whole rental was being done for a charity fundraising event. Also the van that we got was not cleaned before we picked it up....and I wanted that notated in the contract but it wasn't.

The truck is quite old and very basic. I was driving all the way from Nova Scotia to Maryland, towing a car - the truck didn't have a CD player and had a very hard time making it up hills (no matter what gear) - Everything well well but it would've been helpful to have a better truck. Otherwise, service was great, etc.

it was the only location open during canada day so i had no choice!! the service was great but it's far from city centre and on the way back i had hard time finding a bus to get me back to city centre...please try to keep city centre locations open on holidays cause this is when people move, specially on first day of the month

When they call you to confirm your pickup time for an open car trailer they should be telling you that you have to go hook up your trailer on your truck before going to a receptionist to pay. I waiting or 25 minutes only to be told of this. Not good service.

Inspect the trailer before you put a sticker on it saying it's I species and give it to a customer. The left tire was completely warn out and bald. There was no way I was going to make it across the country like that. Had to wait 4 hours for uhaul to fix it and I was in my driveway, what if I was broke down on the highway. Then I was told I had to bring the broken tire back to U-Haul myself, which I didn't do. The trailer itself looked like it was 25 years old and was in really rough shape and should be taken out of service.

I thought the daily rental always used to included some mileage. We rented a 10' van for 2 days to move, and the cost ended up being a lot more than I was expecting when we brought it back. I guess I didn't explore my options well enough, it would have been cheaper to use a different company now that I know this. For some reason I thought you only got charged per km, after you had passed a certain number of km's. Ended up not being such a great deal. Disappointed.

This location is always busy and understaffed. Expect a 30-45 min wait before you leave with equipment. I've rented from here numerous times and always regret it. Go to a neighbourhood dealer instead if you can.

Fix the trucks or get some real mechanics there to fix them for you because the truck was flooding with gas and used $36 for only 45kms. The wiring for light in the back cab wouldn't work and would only turn on for a second and then shut back off so I had to move my whole house in darkness because the light wouldn't work. I won't be recommending your trucks to anyone in Dartmouth

Would like a little faster service for when the vehicle is returned. I spent almost a half hour waiting to leave. I arrived around 3:30pm,The inspection of the vehicle only took a minute ( he checked the gas, checked no damage, checked it was clean and checked the mileage and wrote it up in a flash)..but waiting for service was long, I was there with only one other customer.

Staff are always in too much of a hurry or understaffed. They could not answer simple questions with regard to insurance and in fact gave wrong information. They did not go over the truck with us and as this was my first time driving this big a truck it would have been very helpful. They may have picked up the problem with the steering and brakes because their pre check did not. We ended up driving half the way to California with faulty steering and breaks until they failed completely in Tera Haute. The remaining 2000 miles we were extremly nervous about the equipment and never trusted it again. All in all a terrible experence and still horrible trying to deal with uhaul regarding the trip. 0 out of 100 for maintenance - 0 out of 100 for customer service.

The van smelt so bad inside! We had to drive with the window down for the entire time we add the van. I think the previous person had animals in the vehicle and the animals must have urinated in the back ! The smell caused both the wife and I to have headaches and feel sick to our stomach.

great service and very accommodating. Because I could only move into the new place late afternoon I couldn't keep the large truck for so long but then uhaul had a smaller van for me instead and let me keep it overnight at no extra charge as long as I returned it by 8am, which was great because we were moving untill 11pm Thanks for all the help

I was not informed by the u-haul staff of the road rules and restrictions for the rental I had. For instance, the bridge toll is more than it's standard fee and the U-haul cannot go across the MacDonald bridge (they said they usually give people a fine but thankfully they let me pass without one). Not pleased about this.

I booked an in town tailer. I was quoted online. Then was called to say none was available at the location so the clerk suggested I pick one up on my way the next day and just do a one way as it would be cheaper but it turned out much more expensive. The clerk in Dartmouth reduced the price for me but not to the point I was originally displayed. To improve next time I would like to be told the truth.

too many vehicles on lot so not much room at all for the customer to bring in their vehicle, on drop off , or even when picking up. I would recommend only because it is close in the area but not because of the lay out-poor.. My wife and I did not like that. Either less vehicles or a bigger lot to accommodate customers.

Don't tell customers that you can do something that you can't. I called to confirm that they will charge the credit card on file and they told me yes. Since I am out of province and a family member was using the trailer to bring things to us. So I was not happy when my father (who picked up the trailer) had to pay for it on his credit card after I was told they would charge it to mine.

Larry was Excellent! The man who brought the U-Haul around for ME was awesome! He had it pristine clean!!! The girl at the front counter who confirmed information in the system and ran order through for 3 bags of pads requires more training before she is put on the front Not only did she take forever to complete the transaction, lose the screen and have to start over, she then gave me 3 bags of pads in the cube of the vehicle that I learned after the fact that they were still wet. The pads were useless and caused damage to the furniture as the movers had a time frame to catch a reserved Ferry Crossing and thought I provided pads I wanted them to use, so they used them. I am sooooo annoyed with U-Haul for this. How easy would it have been for her to check that the pads she was renting were dry. The pads never got moved from the box until the next morning and it was not raining when they were brought up to the Unit. The U-Haul Agent (Female who printed order) personally took the pads off the shelf and she personally loaded them into the cube of the Van. No one else handled them. Then I could not get anyone from U-Haul to deliver dry ones once the mess was revealed. My furniture is damaged from moisture.

I will never use Uhaul in the future nor will I ever recommend to a friend. Their reservation system needs a serious fixing. If you reserve a truck you should get a truck... plain and simple. It isn't the customers fault they don't have one and the customer shouldn't have to drive somewhere else to pick one up. Uhaul should make the truck available in the city it was reserved in. I had a 26 ft truck reserved for a move and they gave me a van instead (or I could drive SIX hrs to get one). We moved for TEN hrs on my moving day with this van (& a cpl of pick-up trucks) & didn't finish and I lost my damage deposit. Thanks Uhaul

Service was fast, no delay in getting my trailer rental and upon return there was immediate response to drop off - minimal wait time. Paid by credit card, so all I had to do was drop it off with one of the outside employees and could leave right away - automatic charge to card. Called later and received my receipt by email.

More people on the customer service desk. Wait time was really long. It also allowed me to book a truck online that wasn't available. That was really frustrating. I cancelled a reservation at another company. When U haul called to tell me I had no truck, it was too late to rebook the other location (14ft) which would have made my move a lot easier.

Rented a trailer. Staff very busy but courteous, even when a person in the yard had to ask me to move my car. Lined up to be served, when served was told to go to the yard get hooked up then come in. Now there was an even longer line. Not a big deal but maybe tell trailer renters to go to the yard first. I'll know next time and I will come back. Again, staff was very business like and efficient. I arrived before my pick up time and had called a few minutes before hand and they said no 15 foot trucks were available yet. I arrived 5 minutes after my call and there were half a dozen 15 foot trucks just sitting in the parking lot not even running. I also had to go to Dartmouth to pick my truck up then all the way back to Dartmouth to drop it off adding miles used to my rental when I wanted to rent in Halifax and drop off in Halifax.

Had a lot of trouble finding the drop off site. The one I used about a year ago was out of business. Googling, I found one close by; but, it too was out of existence. Was then referred to one about 5 miles away and it couldn't take a 26 ft truck. Was then referred to a site in Dartmouth. It was a full fledged U-Haul dealer. What a run a round. The info Google has on U-Haul is very misleading and out of date. Suggest you fix that.

I arrived for a 9am pick up and there was only one person working the counter. There was a line up for impatient people wanting their rental. The assistant manager did come out of her office to offer assistance and then another employee showed up. I would have gave it a rating of excellent had the customer service staff been at full compliment.

I do not understand why, when pre-booking a moving truck from the Lower Sackville location, I had to still go to Dartmouth to pick uo the truck. I live in Lower Sackville and was moving to Lower Sackville. To have to pay for the extra mileage for both pickup and drop off was nothing more than an extra money grab to me. Even if drop off was allowed to be in Sackville, that would have been more acceptable. Trucks must be dropped off there as I was told when I booked from the Sackville location that "if" there was a drop off of the size truck I ordered, then I could pick up in Sackville. A good policy would be to have a truck brought from Dartmouth to Sackville if it would ve more convenient and money saving for the customer.

For us motorbike owners it would be nice to have an enclosed trailer with 6ft hight inside available to transport the bike even in bad weather and keep it clean. Especially in the spring when many bike owners need to bring their bikes to dealerships.

I was surprised that one way rental was more expensive than two way. Very nice staff but they didn't seem to realize that this is surprising to customers. One way you would assume would be cheaper and one of the main reasons why I was using the service, didn't want to take back empty trailer but had to. Chris White Halifax NS 902-219-4716

The customer service, it was very below average from previous times that I have rented uhaul trailers,I felt the agent working the day I picked trailer up was very ignorant and rude and tried to get me to purchase things I did not require. When a customer says NO, please do not ask again over and over. Thank you for listening.

We had issues with the credit card transaction. The machine at the location in Halifax could not accept the chip in our Visa credit card, so we were asked to swipe the card. The transaction was decline, and by the time we got home, our bank had contacted us about possible credit card fraud. Our MasterCard worked okay using the swipe component of the credit/debit machine. Bit of extra bank phoning on our end, but the UHaul vehicle worked great and the pickup/drop off was convenient. Already recommended the Halifax location to a friend whose daughter is moving.

The "return the truck with the same amount of fuel" requirement cost us a lot of money. I had no idea about the fuel economy, and how slowly it would go through. I filled the tank, in anticipation of our trip outside the city, and didn't use more than a 1/4 of a tank. So, I basically threw away about $50, which was very frustrating. I know you can't fill the tank for every new rental, but some kind of credit system for excess fuel would have made me feel a lot better about the experience.

A most pleasant experience from the booking on-line to the on-line check in. Picking up the vehicle was extremely east - no line-ups on the first day of the month. Very curious staff during pick-up and at the drop off - which was handled easily via smart phone app. Excellent service all around. D

upon return of the rental truck - the gas was an issue. I traveled 12 miles and ended up putting $35 of gas in the vehicle. I`d recommend changing your vehicle policy to returning on a full tank

We were pleased with the storage unit except that a mouse mice? got in and made a bit of a mess. Otherwise the storage worked out well.

Staff was friendly, unit was locked, so had to call the office to get someone to unlock it. Storage facility was clean, well-lit, good temperature, and the loading dock made the transfer very easy.

Not a good facility for loading and unloading trailers. Had to move my truck at least 3 times while I was waiting to be served. The lot is on a steep hill which makes it harder to access.
