First of all, ordering what I needed was excellent! I put in my car info & just what I needed popped up. NOT too many choices for me to navigate, like another LARGE online company. Next, it came in a very efficient time. Best of all, the high school I teach at has an Auto Tech program. It was a great learning opportunity for the students to install it. Win Win.

What size nut is on the 2 inch ball"
Hi, Vincent! The nut on the 2" ball is 1-5/8". Thanks for asking!
What is used to stabilize the trailer? I do not see any kind of stabilizing bar or sway bar?
U-Haul trailers are aerodynamic, lightweight and low profile for better gas mileage.
Our wide track, stabilized suspension and low center of gravity make for moving made easier.
Thanks for asking!
The nut has a chamfer and a plastic washer. What is the correct way to install the nut and washer?
The plastic ring is used when installing without a torque wrench.
Simply insert the plastic ring into the recessed portion of the nut with the flat side of the ring remaining exposed. Place the ball shank through the platform hole, install the hardened flat washer and thread the nut onto the shank with the plastic ring facing upward (plastic ring between nut and washer).
The 2inch hitch ball with 1 inch shank # 4944 What size wrench fits the nut ? Tried 1 1/2" it was too small.
U-Haul sells the 1-5/8" wrench necessary for tightening the nut on this hitch ball at a low price of $16.95, please see U-Haul part number WRENCH found at your nearest U-Haul location.
Why does the information on the web page for the part number #4944 list it as "Weight Capacity is 7,500 lbs." and card that it is mounted on in the picture reads as "6,000 lb Gross Trailer Weight"? This certainly does not look good! I'm not that confused, right?
Thanks for pointing that out. Our hitch program manager is getting that image updated.
Do you install hitch ?
Yes, since 1945 U-Haul has been America's number one trailer hitch installer. For pricing and scheduling, please use our "Find a U-Haul location" option and contact your nearest U-Haul center.
