Hello, I plan on towing my 2007 Honda Accord behind the 17' U-Haul truck using the tow dolly. Would like clarification on the requirement for vehicle-in-tow rear-end lighting. The tow dolly users instruction states, "Even though the tow dolly has operating lights the law requires that a vehicle-in-tow rear-end be equipped with functioning stop, turn and running lights. Detachable vehicle-in-tow towing lights can be purchased at your U-Haul Center or dealer." Asked a couple of Customer Service personnel if these detachable lights are normally in-stock or do I need to order them. The first guy didn't know what I was talking about, and the second said I didn't need them. "There are working lights on the truck and tow dolley." Please clarify for me. Do I need the detachable lights or not. Thanks

Our hitch pro writes: "The U-Haul tow dolly users guide is correct. You can purchase the magnetic tow lights on uhaul.com or at your local U-Haul center."

–greg 5/30/2014 5:16:37 AM

Our hitch pro writes: The MTOW lights are equipped with the 4-flat trailer end and will plug directly into the quick connect 118573's 4-flat vehicle end.

–jon 11/15/2014 12:20:32 AM

the magnetic tow lights will function as brake lights? How are they attached to my SUV brakes?

–Art 12/11/2014 11:28:59 AM

The lights plug into a standard 4-flat wiring harness. If your SUV is not equipped with that standard plug, please contact a local UHaul Center. They can help you with any adapters you may need. Thanks.

Our vehicle has a hitch but not lights hook up. Will these magnetic lights work on a trailer for tail lights? If so how do these lights hook up to the lights in the vehicle that will be towing the trailer? The vehicle will be a 2012 honda pilot.

–cynthia ferguson 12/18/2014 8:04:09 PM

These lights plug into the vehicles existing 4-Flat plug. If your vehicle does not have that plug, please visit your local UHaul Center. They can help you.

–Ronald 12/19/2014 8:10:34 AM

Can I attach these to the back of a camper I'm buying? My truck doesn't have a hook up spot for any plug and I want to attach these to the back of the camper.

–Brad 4/4/2015 2:25:19 PM

Similar to your camper tail lights, the power to the magnetic tow-a-lights are supplied by a vehicles towing harness. For your situation, it is recommended to have your local U-Haul hitch store equip your vehicle with the towing harness that matches your camper trailer wire harness. For complete parts and pricing, please call or visit your local U-Haul center.

Thank you!
