What is U-Haul Roadside Assistance?

U-Haul Roadside Assistance helps U-Haul customers who need assistance during their move. We understand that moving is stressful and we want to ensure you that we are here with you, every step of the way.

U-Haul Roadside Assistance is rooted in customer service and strives to serve the customer by doing everything we can to resolve the situation as soon as possible. Our most important function is to help get you, your family, and your possessions to your destination with safety and security.

If Roadside Assistance is needed, U-Haul and our service providers, will help you, your possessions and your rental equipment get back on the road.

Who are Roadside Assistance Service Providers?

U-Haul strives to provide fast and efficient service to all customers contacting us, no matter the time of day or night. Therefore, U-Haul works closely with local, contracted service providers (mechanics, tow companies, etc.) to help customers.

The Service Provider’s role in the breakdown process is to assess and repair the equipment. Service Providers are not U-Haul employees, but are outside technicians and repair shops who have an agreement with U-Haul to assist customers in need. Building a quality-driven business to business relationship with each service provider is critical to our overall success. Each roadside service provider technician is reviewed before approved to assist in our roadside program.

Do I Need U-Haul Roadside Assistance? When should I request it?

While all U-Haul vehicles and equipment are routinely inspected and maintained to the highest standard, sometimes unforeseen issues can arise while on the road for a variety of reasons.

Should an issue arise, please contact U-Haul Roadside Assistance as soon as you are able.

Reasons to Contact U-Haul Roadside Assistance

If you are a current U-Haul customer in need of roadside assistance, please contact us through the U-Haul App or call 1-800-528-0355.

When it is safe to do so, please contact us for things that include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Flat/blown tire
• Equipment stuck (mud, snow, etc.)
• Trailer hookup chains
• Key locked in truck
• Rear door will not open/close
• Trailer coupler
• Truck will not start
• Accident
• Truck or trailer lighting
• Auto transport/tow
• Dolly straps, ratchets & tie-downs
• Overheating
• Fluid issues
• Loading/unloading tow trailer

What Services are NOT covered by U-Haul Roadside Assistance?

While U-Haul Roadside Assistance is happy to locate and dispatch a service provider out to you in any situation, some services are not financially covered by Roadside Assistance, and the U-Haul customer will be responsible for the cost.

These include, but are not limited, to things like:

• Keys lost or broken
• Wrong fuel put into truck
• Customer’s personal vehicle is down

U-Haul Safe® Programs – Supplemental Damage Coverage BEFORE your rental

We can't predict accidents, but we can plan for them. One of the most commonly reported accidents in the rental truck industry is a rock cracking the windshield. With Safemove®, Safemove Plus®, Safetow® and Safestor®, you can rest easy knowing that you will be protected from financial responsibility should you find yourself in an unfortunate situation. We are also offering Safetrip® for a $5.00 flat rate for those unexpected roadside hazards.
