Although it\u2019s easy to get caught up in the excitement, there are some things that shouldn\u2019t be done in college.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t be close-minded in college.<\/h4>\n

Trying new things and breaking out of your comfort zone are vital in college. This will allow you to find out more about yourself and the people around you. Be open to new ideas and other people\u2019s perspective. You can learn some valuable lessons and this is the best time to take them all in.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t be afraid to speak your mind.<\/h4>\n

Classes in college are about broadening your horizons and engaging in intellectual conversation. You want to participate, but find a good balance for class interaction. Sometimes talking too much will give off the the wrong impression and get you into trouble. Talking too little should be avoided also, because participating usually means a better grade and it will help you learn.<\/p>\n

Don’t stay up all night every night<\/em>.<\/h4>\n

Managing your time in college is key. It’s okay to stay up all night with friends, but it is also important to get enough rest. Being a student means you are balancing school, work and play. It also comes with a lot of responsibility. Often times, there isn’t a make-up option when you miss important exams or lectures. Digging yourself into a hole isn’t the best way to start the college years. Manage time better, attend class and socialize after your work is done.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t be reckless with money.<\/h4>\n

This goes on the list of what not to do in college because it’s a no-brainer. Unfortunately, this is so often forgotten. College is a time to learn how to budget money. Whether you’re in school courtesy of student loans, or you’re working to pay your tuition, learn to save money. Think twice before throwing something away.There are many ways to reuse<\/a> even the most simplest items. For example save the boxes and other supplies<\/a> you used to move in and create signs for game day or to wrap gifts<\/a> in.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not high school anymore. It\u2019s more acceptable in college to be different. \u00a0If you have a strange hobby or feel that you\u2019ve always thought differently from the status quo, now is the time to embrace these differences. Chances are, you’ll find people in college with similar interests or who will accept you for who you are.<\/p>\n

Most importantly, do what you need to do to make those college years worthwhile. Invest time in what will better your life and remember- even though sometimes being a college student is difficult, these can be the best years of your life.<\/p>\n
