\"Moving<\/a>You\u2019re packing up your whole house, trying to figure out what to take with you and what to donate or toss<\/a>. The last thing you probably want to think about is your car. But you should. Moving<\/a> is the perfect time to reevaluate your transportation needs, get routine maintenance done for your car and update your car emergency kit if you’ll be moving with your vehicle.<\/p>\n

The Decision<\/h3>\n

First things first, determine whether or not you\u2019re going to need your car after your move. What are your transportation needs in your new city or town? What\u2019s the parking situation like? The Allstate\u00a0blog has some ideas on what to consider before you decide whether or not to move with your car<\/a>.<\/p>\n

  1. Leave your car<\/strong>
    \nIf you decide not to move your car with you, you have to figure out what you\u2019re going to do with. Sell it or trade it in? Donate it? There are plenty of options.<\/li>\n
  2. Moving with your car<\/strong>
    \nO.K., well, now you need to figure out     how it\u2019s getting to the new location<\/a>. You could drive it, tow<\/a> it, or pay to have it brought with you. Make sure you have a plan in place for moving your car at least two weeks before your move date. Before that, however, you want to take your car in for routine maintenance even if it\u2019s not due. The last thing you want to worry about when you get to a new place is finding a new mechanic, so before you move bring your car into your trusted place, letting them know about your upcoming move and asking if there is anything they would do before you move and also if they happen to have any recommendations for car service in your new place.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Emergency Vehicle Kit<\/h3>\n

    Finally, update your emergency car kit. Don\u2019t have one? Well, now\u2019s the time. You can adapt it based on the climate you\u2019re moving too. And remember while not an emergency it\u2019s always a good idea to stockpile wipes or paper towels in your car. They\u2019re just as good for cleaning up spills and drying hands as soap and water is in your home.<\/p>\n

    It\u2019s easy to leave your automobiles out of your moving plan, but with the proper planning and organization, you can make sure it\u2019s part of your smooth move.<\/p>\n
