Last minute parties come up and who can resist dressing up to hand out candy to all the little ones. So, this year I&#8217;ve decided to be proactive. My friends and I decided to make a group Halloween costume made out of mostly recycled moving materials&#8230; and let&#8217;s just say they&#8217;re APPtastic!<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what you need to make your every own app costumes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>boxes<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uhaul.com\/MovingSupplies\/Moving-lifting-tools\/Pocket-Cutter-Safety-Box-Cutter?utm_campaign=uhaulsm&amp;utm_source=blog&amp;utm_medium=movingsupplies&amp;utm_content=20141011-diyhalloweencostumesmade\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">box cutter<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uhaul.com\/MovingSupplies\/Rope-tie-downs\/Tie-Down-Sisal-Rope?utm_campaign=uhaulsm&amp;utm_source=blog&amp;utm_medium=movingsupplies&amp;utm_content=20141011-diyhalloweencostumesmade\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rope<\/a><\/li>\n<li>pencil<\/li>\n<li>acrylic paint<\/li>\n<li>paint brushes<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uhaul.com\/MovingSupplies\/Covers-bags\/Tarp-Covers?mid=110&amp;utm_campaign=uhaulsm&amp;utm_source=blog&amp;utm_medium=movingsupplies&amp;utm_content=20141011-diyhalloweencostumesmade\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tarp cover<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Step-By-Step<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong> Lay your box down flat and cut a 18&#8243; x 18&#8243; square.&nbsp;Then cut off the corners with a box cutter off at a curve to achieve the app symbol look.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/movinginsider.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/cut-box.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-24288 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/movinginsider.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/cut-box-1024x591.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Halloween Costume\" width=\"1024\" height=\"591\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>2.<\/strong>&nbsp;Now you have to decide which app you want to create. We created four: Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram. Print out an image of the app you choose for reference and free draw it onto the cardboard.&nbsp;If your app has a white background, like Pinterest, its better to paint the entire cardboard white first. This will help the additional colors pop.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-24286\" src=\"https:\/\/movinginsider.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/DIY-Halloween-250x300.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Halloween Costume\" width=\"250\" height=\"300\">3.<\/strong> Before you begin painting, remember to lay down a tarp cover to protect the surface your working on.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4.<\/strong>&nbsp;As you&#8217;re painting on your cardboard keep in mind that some colors will need more than one coat. For these, give yourself at least 10 minutes between coats.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.<\/strong> Once you have finished painting your app, let it dry. We let ours dry overnight just to be sure.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6.&nbsp;<\/strong>The final step to this costume is attaching the rope. Using your pencil poke a two holes&nbsp;1&#8243;&nbsp;down from the top and 3&#8243; in from either side.
