This will be bottom of your tray.

Put glue on the center of the tray (not the painted side) and glue one end of the rope down.

When that dries you can begin to circle the rope, putting pressure on glued areas as you go. Place a little glue down and quickly the rope over top. Do this until you completely cover the cardboard, but don’t cut it yet.

Begin to build the wall of the tray by gluing rope down over the top of the rope at the edge of the rope. Do this until the wall is at your desired height and cut the rope. Mine is about 2″.

There is still visible cardboard on the side, cover this by gluing rope to the edge of the tray.

This tray feels so durable and looks great with the matching set of coasters. Just add a small vase with fall flowers inside the tray and you have a Pinterest-ready coffee table!

DIY Rope Coasters

Cut out 4 cardboard circles (or how ever many coasters you want) about 4″ in diameter.

This next part is optional, but if you want, paint one side of the cardboard. This will be bottom of your coaster.

Put glue on the center of the coaster (not the painted side) and glue one end of the rope down.

When that dries you can begin to circle the rope, putting pressure on glued areas as you go. Place a little glue down and quickly the rope over top. Do this until you completely cover the cardboard, but don’t cut it yet.

There is still visible cardboard on the side, cover this by bringing the rope down and glue it to the edges. Now you can cut the rope!

You should end up with coasters that look similar to mine or even better! These coasters are not only cute, but super functional.

What are your favorite DIY rope crafts to make?
