Tip 1: Think Before Planting<\/h4>\n

No two plants are the same nor are the atmospheres they are growing. Before you start gardening<\/a> you will need to prepare your yard and get all the necessary equipment – based on what you are planning on growing, the season, and where you live. Keep in mind whether you live somewhere with a warmer<\/a>, cooler<\/a>, or even an icy<\/a> climate, and be prepared for those necessary adjustments.<\/p>\n

\"Perfect<\/a>For example, broccoli and lettuce are great at withstanding the cold; tomatoes love springtime weather. \u00a0The location you choose to start your garden is also crucial – some plants crave that direct sunlight while others prefer to be kept somewhere shady. Do your research beforehand! If you’re having trouble transporting everything,<\/a> or you need to get your yard properly prepared and your garden set, consider renting a trailer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tip 2: Protect your Garden<\/h4>\n

To keep animals out of your garden, stick plastic forks in the soil. Insects are repelled by certain plants so growing chives, onions, and garlic will help to protect the rest of your garden.\u00a0Cardboard<\/a> also works as a natural weed barrier. Boxes are also great for making a pot planter or for collecting compost.<\/p>\n

Tip 3:\u00a0Keep your Garden\u00a0Nutritious<\/h4>\n

Biodegradable<\/a> packing peanuts<\/a> will eventually improve the quality of the soil. They also make the pots lighter therefore easier to move around – while improving water drainage. If you want to retain moisture longer, try adding a damp diaper or paper towel at the bottom of your pot.<\/p>\n

\"garden\"Adding both sugar and Epsom salt to the soil will help add nutrients to the plants. The sugar will act as food for your garden since your plants are trying to create glucose. The salt will provide magnesium and sulfate.<\/p>\n

Make use of your kitchen waste too. Grind up eggshells into a powder to give your garden a healthy dose of calcium. One easy way to feed your garden is to fertilize it with leftover coffee or tea grounds. The caffeine makes it a natural bug repellant. Rather than tossing your used grounds, add them to the soil.<\/p>\n

Compostin<\/a>g is another good way to get rid of food remains that would normally be trash without wasting them. If you steam or boil vegetables, rather than dumping that water out, wait for it to cool and feed your garden a nutrient-filled drink.<\/p>\n
