Right? Wrong!

U-Haul moving boxes are also great for a number of other things. From Halloween costumes to Turkey decorations and even furniture and Minecraft parties, there are a ton of different ways to get crafty with your boxes. But, a more environmentally friendly way to put your boxes to use are as recycling bins! For our last move, we picked up a few wardrobe boxes for some linens that I wanted to hang instead of fold during the move.

Side note: these boxes are great for your more delicate items to the large bulky ones where a traditional box may not do the job. You use these by moving your clothes directly from the closet to the moving box while they stay on their hangers!

When we moved into our new home we had our normal garbage container but didn’t really have the room for separate recycling bins. Until I remembered our empty U-Haul wardrobe boxes in the garage! We drink tons of water and dare I say it, soda, so naturally, we produced a lot of empty water bottles and aluminum cans which are both recyclable. I also knew that there are many recycling centers out there that give you cash for your cans. Save the planet and earn some money while doing it.. it was a win-win! So with all that in mind, I created a recycling center.

It was fairly simple by following these 4 steps:

Clean out the box making sure there is nothing valuable still inside and move it to a dry location.

Label the boxes so you don’t accidentally throw a can in with a plastic or vice versa.

Fill the boxes. Fun tip: Act like your Lebron James going for the three-pointer!

When the box is full, load it up in your truck and take to your local recycling center.

Do you have any recycling tips of your own?
