You have returned your family’s\u00a0moving truck<\/a>\u00a0and your move is officially over. \u00a0Now what? \u00a0The most important thing you can do for your family to make a move last, is to get involved. \u00a0If you are moving in the summer with kids it is important to get\u00a0involved\u00a0quickly because kids do not have school to meet new friends\u00a0and can feel lonely or bored. \u00a0Below are some tips for a family in a new community to get involved and find a place after a move. \u00a0Single in a new city<\/a>? \u00a0Find ways to get involved here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"NeighborhoodFamily Involvement<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Try these as a family.<\/p>\n

Meet the Neighbors:<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0They\u00a0may have kids around the same age and can suggest\u00a0about what is a must try for food, fun and adventure!<\/p>\n

Explore:<\/em><\/strong> Act like a tourist, try the museums, visit any special landmarks and go to a baseball or basketball game to get acquainted with the home teams.<\/p>\n

Find a Group:\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Find a group that fits your family’s interests or needs, whether it is a church, play group, volunteer group or a\u00a0family Meetups<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Invite and Accept Invitations:<\/em><\/strong> Extend and accept invitations to\u00a0help you get to know people who share your interests and allow your kids to meet others\u00a0in their own environment.<\/p>\n

Involvement for Kids<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Involvement\u00a0is critical for children as a move can be tough on them. \u00a0Here are some activities that will help them meet kids.<\/p>\n

Sports \/ Dance:<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0Activity\u00a0promotes working as a team and helps to\u00a0build long-term bonds.<\/p>\n

Girl Scouts<\/a> \/ Boy Scouts<\/a>:<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0Scouts allow children to work as a team, spend time in the community and learn individual skills.<\/p>\n

Classes:<\/strong><\/em> Try art or cooking classes for children that are more creative.<\/p>\n

Sometimes parents forget themselves, but it is important to get out there as well.<\/p>\n

Clubs:<\/strong><\/em> Join a book, sport, beer, wine or craft club to meet new people.<\/p>\n

Exercise:<\/strong><\/em> Going to the gym or fitness classes will help you meet other people and help get those happy endorphins going!<\/p>\n

PTA:<\/strong><\/em> Joining the PTA or other school groups can help you get to know people from your child’s school.<\/p>\n

Moving<\/a> can be exciting as well as a little scary. \u00a0Using these tips will help make the entire family feel connected to\u00a0a new community.<\/p>\n
