When considering renting a U-Haul truck<\/a> that will be packed with all of your personal belongings, one of the questions you may have is \u201cAt what speed can I drive a moving truck?” Here are a few important tips to keep in mind.<\/p>\n

Plan for additional time. In order to maintain your safety, as well as that of other drivers, you’ll need to reduce your traveling speed.<\/p>\n

\"nicholas_t\"<\/a>Always abide by posted speed limits.<\/p>\n

When driving a truck that’s been packed full to the brim,  it will take longer to come to a complete stop when braking, so slow down when you’re anticipating a stop. Leave at least several car lengths between you and the vehicle in front of you. You will also need more distance in order to pass other cars, as the moving truck is longer than what you may be accustomed to.<\/p>\n

The same tips apply if you are <\/span>towing a trailer<\/span><\/a> or an <\/span>auto transport<\/a>. Always follow these<\/span> precautions: slow down, increase your follo<\/span>wing distance and drive defensively.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you\u2019re <\/span>moving in less-than-ideal weather<\/span><\/a> conditions, such as snow or on icy roads, you\u2019ll want to be extra cautious and drive a bit slower.<\/span><\/p>\n

Reducing your speed will even help reduce your fuel consumption!<\/p>\n
