Colorado Springs<\/a> is 60 miles south of Denver<\/a> and lies in the shadow of Pikes Peak, on the southeastern edge of The Rocky Mountains. The city is more than a\u00a0mile above sea level and home to the United States Air Force Academy, the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame and the United States Olympic Committee and Training Center.\u00a0<\/span>Colorado Springs is the second most populous city in Colorado, behind Denver, and the 42nd most populous city in the United States. If you\u2019re looking for a home that has a little bit of everything, moving<\/a> to Colorado Springs is a great choice!<\/p>\n

Weather<\/h3>\n

When you think of Colorado, you may automatically think \u201cSNOW!\u201d Colorado Springs averages between three and eight inches of snow each winter and about 28 snow days per year. The month of March actually sees the most snowfall. Be prepared to move with all-season tires.\u00a0In winter, the average lows are usually between 17-26 degrees. Summer brings average highs between the high-60s and mid-80s, but it’s the rainiest season. Fall and spring are typically mild.<\/p>\n

Economy<\/h3>\n

Colorado Springs has three main industries: military, high-tech and tourism.\u00a0In addition to the United States Air Force Academy, Fort Carson is located in Colorado Springs, as well as Peterson and <\/span>Schriever Air Force Bases. NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) is headquartered here as well.\u00a0<\/span>Other top employers include Memorial Health Services and the Colorado Springs School District.\u00a0The unemployment rate has been steadily dropping over the past couple of years and is lower than the national average.<\/p>\n

Education<\/h3>\n

Colorado Springs offers many options for higher education, including the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs, Colorado Christian University and University of the Rockies.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no shortage of activities to keep you busy and entertained in \u201cThe Springs.\u201d Pikes Peak Country is home to <\/span>Garden of the Gods<\/span><\/a>, a registered National Natural Landmark; <\/span>Cheyenne Mountain Zoo<\/span><\/a>; and\u00a0<\/span>Seven Falls<\/span><\/a>– \u201cThe Grandest Mile of Scenery in Colorado.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>For those seeking a physical challenge, try the <\/span>Manitou Incline<\/a>,<\/span>\u00a0a hiking trail that elevates you 2,000 feet in just under a mile.<\/span><\/p>\n
