Winter lows range from -8\u2103 to 1.5\u2103.<\/p>\n<h4>Education<\/h4>\n<p>Halifax has numerous options for those seeking secondary education. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dal.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dalhousie University<\/a>&#8211;the largest university in Halifax&#8211;is the top Atlantic Canadian research university<\/p>\n<p>Other schools include Saint Mary\u2019s University, Mount Saint Vincent University, University of King\u2019s College, Atlantic School of Theology, Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD) University, and the Halifax branch of Universit\u00e9 Sainte-Anne.<\/p>\n<p>With so many educational options, Halifax is a great location for young people.<\/p>\n<h4>Economy<\/h4>\n<p>Halifax is a major economic epicenter in eastern Canada, specializing in government services and private sector companies and serves as the banking, business, cultural and government center for the Maritime region.<\/p>\n<p>In 2015, Halifax\u2019s economy saw growth with a 2.3% increase in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Major employers include the Department of National Defence, the Port of Halifax, Irving Shipbuilding, the Nova Scotia Health Authority, and the Bedford Institute of Oceanography.<\/p>\n<p>Other resource industries include agriculture, fishing, mining, forestry, and natural gas.<\/p>\n<h4>Things to do<\/h4>\n<p>Halifax isn\u2019t all work and no play.
