Location<\/h3>\n

You are going to be attending one of the largest campuses in the United States– 8,180 acres to be exact! Before you start thinking about the possibility of getting lost on your first day of class (every freshman\u2019s<\/a> nightmare), have you thought where exactly Stanford is located<\/a>? This is a little bit of a tricky answer! The main campus is located in the San Francisco Peninsula, about 37 miles from San Francisco and 20 miles from San Jose. Here is where things get complex. Stanford\u2019s main campus is located on six different governmental jurisdictions:<\/p>\n

4,017 acres in unincorporated Santa Clara County<\/em>
\n 2,701 acres in unincorporated San Mateo County<\/em>
\n 1,161 acres in Palo Alto<\/em>
\n 114 acres in Woodside<\/em>
\n 111 acres in Menlo Park<\/em>
\n 76 acres in Portola Valley<\/em><\/p>\n

Don\u2019t let this scare\u00a0you. Stanford is a self-sustaining community within itself and even has it\u2019s own zip code– 94305.<\/p>\n

Housing on Campus<\/h3>\n

\"Moving<\/a>The founders’ wish is stated on the Founding Grant of the Stanford: “It is desirable that the members of the Faculty and students should generally reside upon the grounds of the University\u2026” A wish that is still being granted to this day as living on campus<\/a> at Stanford University is the norm. Did you know that 97% of undergraduate students live on campus, as well as about 64% graduate students and 30% faculty members?<\/p>\n

Incoming freshmen are required to live on campus, and all undergraduate students are guaranteed housing for all four years of their education. The undergraduate housing system includes 81 unique accommodations<\/a> that are guaranteed to meet your housing needs. Dorm styles<\/a> include residence halls, apartments, suites and more! If you are interested in becoming apart of the 25% of students that join fraternities and sororities. Keep in mind that 6 fraternities and 3 sororities offer housing.<\/p>\n

First-year graduate students are guaranteed on-campus housing at Stanford University if you applied before the spring deadline. The university provides housing for single students, couples without kids, and students with kids.<\/p>\n
