The current owners claim that bleeding walls and demonic voices are not included and paint their time in the home as happier than what was depicted in the film.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Amityville Horror&#8221; was based on a real house in Amityville, NY where 6 people were killed in the 1970&#8217;s. Not everyone can afford to buy million-dollar spooky houses, but you may be able to afford a scary movie weekend escape. The movie &#8220;The Shining&#8221; used the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.timberlinelodge.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Timberline Lodge in Washington<\/a>\u00a0for many of their shots of the hotel.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.stanleyhotel.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Stanley<\/a> hotel in Colorado is the hotel that inspired King to write &#8220;The Shining.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0Hopefully your stay at either of these hotels is less &#8220;redrum&#8221; and more &#8220;weekend fun.&#8221; At the very least they would provide a great location to read Steven King&#8217;s creepy classic.<\/p>\n<p>Now, I know that most of you don&#8217;t live in New Jersey and are not willing to move there just to live in an infamous home.
