In the spirit of the holidays upon us, we asked our moving insiders what their favorite holiday tradition is when they’re taking a break from all things moving. Here’s what they said:<\/p>\n

\"holiday<\/a>“My favorite holiday tradition is spending Christmas Eve with my family. Every year, my G-Ma (grandma) makes homemade Sicilian pizza. It’s seriously the best pizza I’ve ever had, and she only makes it once a year.\u00a0 With only a single oven to serve us all, we all anxiously await as it comes out of the oven… one pizza at a time.\u00a0 Luckily, since I’m a vegetarian, I get 1\/2 of a whole pizza just for me… cheese and pesto.\u00a0 G-Ma won’t let anyone else eat it, so I’m usually the only one who gets to bring leftovers home! Now that all of us grand kids are older and have busy schedules, it’s sometimes the only day during the year when we are all home together.”\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\"holiday<\/a><\/p>\n

“One of my favorite holiday traditions is Christmas tamales. I could go on and on with food items I love (Christmas cookies and Christmas brunch.) I am also a big fan of giving gifts. Even more than receiving them, I love to watch people unwrap a gift that I found that particularly suits them<\/em>.”<\/p>\n

\"holiday<\/a>“My favorite holiday tradition is getting together at my grandma’s house. We usually have a Scandinavian dinner of Lefse served with meat and potatoes<\/em>, followed by a walk around the neighborhood to look at Christmas lights while we run the dishwasher. When us grandchildren were younger, we’d come back to the house after looking at lights expecting to open the presents under the tree. Now that we’re all older (no great grandchildren in the family yet), we play our favorite holiday game instead, Catch Phrase.”<\/em><\/p>\n

\"holiday<\/a>“My favorite holiday tradition is getting together with my family on Christmas Eve and having Mexican food.\u00a0 My uncle makes machaca, and it makes my mouth water just thinking of it!\u00a0 When we were kids, my cousins and I would all go outside to look for Santa.\u00a0 Plus, Christmas Eve is great because it has that sense of anticipation of Christmas morning and what might be under the tree.\u00a0 Now that I have kids of my own, I don’t have to wonder what’s under the tree, but I get the same sense of anticipation as I look forward to watching them open their gifts.\u00a0 And I still go outside to look for Santa.<\/em>”<\/p>\n
