Originally when I began renting here I was presented with documentation granting me with a the military discount. However, throughout my time while renting in this facility upon annual renewal, this company, apparently then forgets that your military and jumps your rental rate, sometimes at 100% rate doubling the cost of your original rental agreement. Then required to again prove that you are in fact of military status and until you do so you are charged the ridiculous jump and rent cost. Then when it calms to leaving the rental facility and you clear your facility following a holiday weekend where the front office is closed during that holiday weekend and you clear the first business day following that holiday weekend, they will refuse to give you a refund for the time you are not using their storage facility. For example, I cleared my storage unit following a holiday weekend on the first business day, which was I believe around the fourth of the month once I cleared I went to the front office informed him that I was able to finally clear the storage facility the woman at the front desk refused to give me a refund of my monthly rent. I told her that I understand that she may not be able to provide me with a full refund, but I was kind of expecting a partial refund since I had not been able to clear the facility on the first due to the holiday weekend and their office was closed. Asked for a copy of my original rental agreement so that I could see if this was in fact a policy that they had the young lady refused to give me a copy of my rental agreement so I attempted to call their online number and every time I did, it referred me back to the rental facility who refused to return my calls or acknowledge that I have been calling

JAMES J | Overall ExperienceFrom the beginning, we had felt like no one was ever in the office. Just a sign saying be back soon. We went into storage shed and there were black widows everywhere, the door would barely open due to the 6 foot tall weeds blocking all doors, entrance is blocked with U-Haul vans, weeds surrounding all sides of building, very disgusting place. They raised our unit from $48 up to $127 in a matter of 3 months. We asked why, they said pay or get your stuff out. Never will recommend this place. We had to set bug bombs just to enter and move.
Debbie L | Overall ExperienceI rented a unit here for 21 months. When I first started renting, it was an Extra Space Storage and was wonderful. The grounds were very well kept, there was a lovely staff on site and the cost was fair. Once BriteLock Storage took over earlier this year, the property went downhill very quickly. Prices of units practically doubled with a $30 all at once rate increase on my 5x8x9, there was no longer an on-site staff with everything being done through chat and phone customer service and the grounds became overgrown with weeds, nearly 5’ tall. Highly dissatisfied with the new ownership and vacated pretty shortly after the transition of ownership.
KRISTEN G | Overall ExperienceWe were at this facility while it was Extra Space storage, and they were phenomenal. Britelock however did a 180 on the facility. We have had both indoor and outdoor units.The area is dirty, weeds growing in front of doors, spiders and mice issues. Extra space took extra care to make sure the facility was clean and nice. Britelock seems to not care. They’re in office hours are inconvenient. The friendliest reps I talked to were from out of state reps. The West Haven rep couldn’t vet give me answers when I needed them. They hiked up my bill to over triple what I was paying and refused to fix the issue. But hey if you just need to store your extra stuff, the facility can do that. Just be weary of mice getting in your stuff. And spiders all over. And we’re growing in front of your door.
STEVE S | Overall ExperienceThe rent was raised twice and insurance that I never requested was charged to my account even after I told them I have home owners insurance. Now the rent when up again and is too expensive. There is never someone to answer the phone when I had questions about rent or fees so I was very disappointed with your customer service. Thank you.
Alicia C | Overall ExperienceBy not having any staff present at the facility and having to make long telephone calls, talk to AI bots, deal with a long term problem with a broken access gate, and storage units infested with insects - this storage unit will never meet the needs of their customers! I have never missed my payments but their was almost an entire month that I did not have any access, during the month of changing management companies

SERGEY S | Overall ExperienceThe location was well maintained. That is the only good thing I can say. I rate it poorly because of the additional charge for a lock that I have no use for after moving out and the extreme difficulty to contact a person for assistance. There is no point posting a phone number at the facility that only leads to voice mail. Bots cannot help a customer if the entry gate is inoperable. Furthermore, I had prepaid for 4 months, moved out after 3 months and was told by an employee that I would be refunded one month. This did not happen. I will never recommend this location, avoid it like the plague.

Katherane D | Overall ExperienceSince the switch to BriteLock it was an absolute joke trying to use customer service and cancel my unit. The only way to contact is through text and you have to use a chat bot, which is a joke and can’t even talk to an actual person. When the text finally switches to a “live person” they are short and unwelcoming. I will not use britelock again.
