You Drive, We Load and Unload

When picking up and delivering U-Box containers, drivers do not have to assist with loading or unloading freight. A U-Haul team member will handle it!

U-Box Carrier Insurance Requirements Include:

Broker/3PL

  • Contingent Cargo: $100K
  • Auto Liability: $1 million
  • General Liability: $1 million

Asset

  • Moto Truck Cargo: $100K
  • Auto Liability: $1 million
  • General Liability: $1 million

U-Box Container Exterior Dimensions:

A maximum of 10 containers will fit on a 53' x 102' dry van. One U-Box container loaded widthwise on a trailer takes up 5' of deck space. One U-Box container loaded lengthwise on a trailer takes up 8' of deck space.

  • Length: 96" or 8' (244cm)
  • Width: 60" or 5' (152cm)
  • Height: 90" or 7 ½' (229cm)
  • Diagonal: 110 ½" or 9'2 ½" (280cm)
  • Max Weight per Container: 2,500 lbs.
  • Built-in base boards for forklift maneuverability

The following equipment is allowed to transport U-Box containers:

  • Swing Door Dry Van
  • Roll-up Door Dry Van
  • Pup Trailer
  • Straight Truck
  • Conestoga Trailer
  • Curtain Van
Refrigerated vans, flatbeds, and step deck trucks are prohibited.
