Uhaul allowed me to make several changes to my return time. They were very polite and professional and even when I was a little late the general manager Alan MacDonald treated me with respect and was very understanding.

I had a discrepancy on the fuel gauge/usage. Their computer reading of the amount of fuel left in the tank when I picked up the pickup was different than actual, and hand noted on my contract. Yet when I returned it with 12 miles of usage, they charged me $6 for fuel (1.5 gal) because the computer still had the wrong reading for checkout. It is still being considered for correction.

When I arrived for pickup, it seemed that they didn't have enough staff at the counter to handle the customer load. I waited for over 10 minutes, despite an online reservation that specifically said I would be there at 10am. While I was waiting inside, with people lining up behind me, at least one customer was waiting similarly outside at the dropoff point -- and he kept popping his head in. The counter guy kept waiving him off, and then would crassly comment, "I've told him to wait and I'll be out" in front of the customers inside (several times). I have had amazing experiences with this location before, so probably just an off day... but it was a bit off-putting.

The service person at the counter was excellent. The circumstances around the rental, scheduling, follow up, calling to confirm the pick up, the equipment I reserved a month earlier was not available, no way to reach the local store and talk with someone, all of that was the worst customer experience I have ever had. the only saving grace in the situation was the excellent service provided by your counter attendant. the truck was excellent.

It appeared the employees were scheduled to arrive on Sunday morning (my day of pick up) at the same time the store opened. This created a bit of a hectic scene as employees were turning on computers, checking in equipment from the previous night, and prepping for the day while multiple customers were waiting to be helped. I may suggest scheduling employees to arrive before the first scheduled pick up time. Thanks!

Wait time to make purchase was excessive, over 10 minutes. When she finally arrived at the counter to assist, no apology for slow service, impersonal, lack of sincerity. Equipment release and return was much better, two different gentlemen were very helpful, courteous, which resulted in purchase of wiring adapter. Much better...

I had a bad experience. The pick-up location for the truck I reserved was switched to another location. The pick-up time given for the second location did not match the hours of operations of that location. I wasted about 1.5 hours trying to get a truck that I had reserved in advanced. I am disappointed with the service given.

Had several issues. Rented a truck. Gave credit card info as requested. Told uhaul that when we return equipment we would pay in cash. Instead they ran my credit card and told me they couldn't reverse it. That was not what we asked for. Rented a trailer 2 days later. Called to change time on pickup and instead of a trailer they had a van reserved for me. I wouldn't recommend uhaul. Too many screw ups.

The only good that was experienced during this (from start to finish) was a regional manager, Randy Bowlby. He was able to come through with a trailer for us at a point where we were convinced we needed to go else where. He was amazing, but the rest of the experience was unbelievable in a "not so good" way. The SE 14th location in DSM is over the top - they called me 3 times telling me I could pick up a trailer for a few hours, when my request was for 3 days and going out of state. Then they made no attempt to "fix" what was screwed up. The folks at the Bondurant location were very kind and they are the ones that reached out to Randy after I shared with them what I was experiencing. After we dropped it off, I got a call from Michigan advising me that it was never checked in. Thankfully, I had taken a pic when we were leaving town so I could read the trailer number right off of the trailer and that it how they determined what had happened. Mystery solved. :-)
