I'm most likely NOT the person that uhaul wants doing a review. I waited a day before doing this review so I had time to cool down a bit. I know that swearing is a bad thing in a review and yesterday I would not have been able to tone it down.
I had ordered my 17' moving van 5 days prior to my move. I mistakingly put the order in on line.
As I was being dropped off at "Lawn Mowers Etc." in San Juan Capistrano, I commented to my wife that I liked doing business with these guys, that they had always treated me well.
When I gave my paperwork to the attendant he couldn't find my truck. After hunting for a while, he found that my truck was 5 towns away at another Uhaul location. WONDERFUL! I am expecting to pick up a van, and I have no ride.
He told me that "IT ISN'T MY FAULT". Well that is just ducky, because IT ISN'T MY FAULT EITHER!.
I set this place up as my pick up location because it is close to my house.
He told me that the problem is because I set up the reservations through Corporate Uhaul. He explained to me that Corporate takes the order, and sets the rental up if the place that I request has the vehicle. If someone walks into that location they can rent the same vehicle that is already reserved for me and that I'm SOL. And then he said, "they sent you a text yesterday morning" telling you that the truck that they agreed to rent to you has been rented to someone else and NOW you have to drive and extra hour if you want to do business with us. WELL THAT IS B---S---! No one sent me a text. We had an agreement, and the Uhaul employee that put the note in the computer is a liar. If it is true, send me a screen shot of the text. YOU CANT DO IT because it never happened.
So, the SJC uhaul attendant is nice enough to give me a ride 5 towns away to find the truck that corporate might let me have. Fortunately it was there. The attendant at that location agreed with the first guy telling me that Uhaul is notorious for screwing the customers. He said that they hope that I am at least 5 minutes late, because they use that opportunity to re rent the same unit to someone else. I checked my watch as I walked into the first shop. 8:04.
He said that what happend to me is very common if I set up my reservations on line. He suggested that I don't use the internet to make my reservations.
Well, that isn't a problem because I'll be dammed if I'm going to give uhaul my business again. In the past 10 years, I have rented 4 moving trucks, and at least 8 trailers. It isn't like they screwed a first time customer, I would consider myself a long term loyal customer. Actually a former customer.
I had my move planned very well, and had people scheduled to assist me. Not only did they inconvenience me by putting me late by over an hour, they inconvenienced numerous people that were hired to assist me. Not to mention I barely made it to the drop off location in time to return the truck, and make it home at the worst possible t

They over charged me for the doyly it shut come with the truk. And they charged me 60.00 and 60.00 for gas it was ridiculed total of 479.00dls. To much. Sorry I will not recomend yuor place or used again.

Reserved truck a week in advance - Ordered a 20 foot - only had a 17 foot when I got there. Told me they would include extra miles - they didn't. Those 3 feet really screwed my move.

Need to make sure that everything is working properly before checking it out. In my case, the roll up door did not close properly and required a lot more force than should have been necessary to get the door to close so it could be latched in place.
