We were fortunate to be one of the first in line; others had to wait longer. The young man who helped us was excellent and very helpful. It was convenient to drop it off after hours as well.

We reserved a 17' truck at a location closest to us. Two days before our scheduled pick up, I received a phone call from customer service, who told me they did not have my truck in the location I had reserved, so I could get one from this location instead, but they only had 24' trucks, for which I would not be charged extra because they did not have the truck I originally reserved. At pick up, Uhaul told us that charging the original reservation price (for the 17') truck was against their policy. Very disappointing considering we had to drive extra distance to pick up the truck from a separate location to begin with.

Our local UHaul locations did not offer pickup rentals..so we had to drive over 30 miles one way to pick up the truck. Customer service told us that they would credit us 60 miles in mileage due to inability to pick up in our area. When we returned vehicle...we were told by store management that they could not credit us mileage on a "local" rental...only on one way rental. I would have returned it iny area...but was told I had to return to store rented...so hence...I would receive a mileage credit. I was really disappointed in the customer service end of this rental...plus young man at store was not very personable...I would suggest that the customer service people on the phone coordinate with the store better. It was irritating to be promised something that cannot be delivered.

Have rental equipment available where reservations are made. This poor customer service and a very bad business decision!

Your company forced us to come up with a worst case scenario for how long we would need the van. We were in a situation where we were unsure of when our rental would be opening up. Our personal home was set to close on a sale on June 25th and our rental we were moving into had tenant who had paid through June 30th. We rented the van for the 23rd through the 1st because your company would not allow us to keep the van in the event we guesstimated wrong on when the tenants actually moved out of the rental. We were lucky that they were able to be out of the home on Friday the 26th and we unloaded and returned the van on Saturday the 27th - returning it earlier than anticipated and allowing use for hopefully another client. It is so busy this time of year in the moving industry that we had to travel an hour out of the area to pick up the van to start with, so I know it is in demand. It is not standard practice in any business anywhere to charge for services that are not used. My husband and I have both been business owners 20 years and have never felt as extorted as we do now. We are literally having to pay double for our use of the van. Not only that, we had a very unpleasant experience here in the Moscow area in trying to rent the van. We called three weeks in advance to set up a reservation and given the looseness of our moving date were told nothing could be done without a firm date. So my husband guesstimated a pick up date of the 25th. On Friday the 19th of June, I called to change the reservation and give a firm pick-up date of the 23rd. The gal I spoke with said she changed the reservation date and said U-haul would call us 24 to 48 hours in advance of pick up to confirm the reservation. No one called us, and I realized no one had called on Monday the 22nd. I called U-haul myself and found out the reason no one had called was because the reservation date had NOT been changed and we were still in the system for pick up on the 25th. Because the date wasn't changed and because no one called to confirm there was not a van available for us locally and we had to unexpectedly (in the middle of moving) drive to Plummer to pick up a van. I am o.k. with you not refunding our unused service days. I am also o.k. writing a complaint to U-Haul corporate offices, the Better Business Bureau, State Attorney General's Office and also the US Department of Commerce. It makes no difference to me as a consumer whether the trip is a one way trip or a two way trip - either way I expect to pay for days used, and not be charged in excess. In a moving company I expect the company to have the flexibility to deal with normal fluctuations in consumer schedules and circumstances that occur in everyday moving situations, and I certainly do not feel that U-haul has met that expectation.

The rep assisting with hook-up and set-up was great. Very helpful. Unfortunately we were not told ahead that a 2" ball was required or a 4-pin connector for the brakes and lights. So, we had to purchase at the pick-up location.

The online reservation site made me think that I'd purchased mattress and couch covers. Apparently that's not the case until you get there. It could be clearer to the online customer that these need to be paid for separately. I haven't checked to see if I paid for these items twice or not.

When I got there, there were two people waiting in front of me one of which was already being helped but I was still standing in line for an hour. Then once I started checking out I realized the screen said $75 when my original quite was $34 so I asked the guy about it and he assured me it was just a holding fee and once I returned the truck I would only be charged my original quote and what ever extra mileage I used.... Wrong two days later I was charged $75 and it overdrafted my account so I was then charged $68 in fees from my bank. Long story short the employees need to be better trained on there companies policy and there headquarters needs to start returning customer calls... Never again will I move using u haul

Advertised price was far below the actual final total, so there was some sticker shock after expecting a $20 fee to rent a pickup for a few hours. Then told that my debit card would be charged $80, with the difference refunded at a later date (date not specified). So, be clearer upfront about the actual total cost, and get rid of that upfront $80 deposit nonsense.

I had to wait 30 minutes in line to be told that all vehicles were reserved and was recommended to fill out the online reservation. I did that and walked out of the building to get called 3 minutes later that there was a truck available, just to stand in line another 30 minutes. The gentleman appeared to be new and learning as it took another 20 minutes to get going after starting the paperwork.

The agent at the counter complained about working a double shift. I sympathize, but it made me concerned about issues of safety. Was the truck adequately checked for safety before given to me by this tired, obviously annoyed agent? Also, the truck controls were never explained to me, and it took awhile and trial-and-error before I realized how to operate the AC, or even that the truck had AC. A day of heat without AC may have saved on gas but was equally tiresome. That said, the truck operated just fine. Strange that the best part of our experience was a machine, not customer service, a.k.a. human interaction.

The directions to get into the facility were not clear at all. There were trucks all over the place. I had no idea where to go so just parked where I could. They need more signs directing customers to stay in their vehicles so the person checking vehicles in doesn't feel compelled to snap at the customers. The person checking us in obviously does not like his job as he was quite rude throughout our encounter with him. We also observed him being quite rude to another customer. Another person came out to help the other customer and he was very nice. The person who checked us in kept implying that we had broken something in the trailer. When I would ask what was broken, he would say, "you tell me." I will only go to this facility again if I have no other choice.

The truck only got 7 miles to the gallon. I spent $150 in gas alone. I think it stinks that even though I turned the truck in a day early that I was NOT given a refund & that the truck could have been rented out again & the company gets paid on that truck TWICE!!!

I would suggest an accurate fuel reading prior to customers leaving and perhaps trucks that drive properly, have newer tires, and brakes maintained so they aren't screeching at the slightest touch. Also employees at this location don't seem too thrilled to have a job. Customer service was prompt but lacking any enthusiasm at all.

This location was great, the problems I experienced were with the UHaul regional-level management. I was told (at another location) that I could have the truck as long as I wanted, and could return it early and only pay for the days I used. When the regional dispatch called me the day before I was supposed to pick up the truck, she was a little testy that I wanted the truck for three days, and said that it could only be rented for 24 hours. By this time I had arranged for help, but I hadn't gotten as much help as I could have because I knew that I had three days if I needed it. After much discussion she was able to get it to me for two days, and I scrambled and got enough help to finish in one day, so it worked out. It was just more stressful than I would have liked. Also, the U-Haul system went down when we got there to pick up the truck, and we had to wait for it to be ready. This was definitely not the location's fault, but it was really frustrating. You would think there would be a way for us to enter our information in an "offline" mode and still pick up the truck when the regional system goes down. Drop off was super easy, and in the end the price was great.

The guy that helped me this morning said that I would have to look elsewhere to resolve my issue with wiring of the lights as mine had an issue with the ground. It's not really a huge issue but others might look elsewhere for business

The guy that originally helped me was concerned about when he was getting off and complained the entire time to me and the other employee. Then he wanted to argue with me about the gas gage so I ran down the street to fill the tank to where he wanted it. When I got back the whiner had left and the other poor guy had a line of 6 of us. He was so nice and I felt so bad for him knowing he was all alone. Fire that other guy and better staff your location.
