I scheduled my rental for Santa Fe, NM but was informed that if I wanted the size truck that I reserved I would have to drive to Taos, NM (this is one hundred and forty miles round trip). When I informed the supervisor at the Santa Fe location that I had rented from U Haul many times before and never had to drive this extreme distance for a change of location, she told me "well this will be the first time then". Completely rude and unprofessional . I asked if someone could transport the truck down to me, the answer given, no. I asked if they would cover the use of a car trailer just to bring my own car back to Santa Fe, answer was "not unless you pay for it". She told me that they would take a $100 off my bill, between the extra gas for my car to drive 140 miles, the truck to be driven an extra 70 miles, and the 3-4 hours of travel time including a friend having to leave work early to help me, I didn't see $100 as much of a compensation for my trouble. I will have to seriously consider my options when needing a truck or trailer in the future after this experience, and I don't know if I would suggest renting from Uhaul to friends or family either.

Staff did not remove the rock they placed in front of rear right tire. Staff was not helpful in adjusting side view mirrors. They just popped back into a set position. A friend we knew who was a handyman knew what to teach us and we did fine after that.
The green device for judging mpg was silly. You have to drive about 30-40 mpg in order to be green. On a highway that is unsafe and illegal. Those devices were a waste of money for U-Haul if you had an option. Every driver knows how costly driving fast can be especially on mountain highways.
I think it is unsafe not to equip the trucks with remote controlled side view mirrors and ability to lock both doors with push button.

the cab floor was all muddy and the cup holders were evident of a sticky substance like spilled soda....other than that the vehicle ran great....also would like to commend Sam the manager....I have dealt with Sam previously and you could not find a better person than Sam....Sam knows his business....I have also read other reviews and Sam is mentioned as a top employee....Sam should be awarded Manager of the year.....Thanks Sam.....

They said they specifically chose thid truck for me, but upon leaving I found that the ashtray was dirty, resulting in a smelly ride across country, and the seat was stuck, which left me a little cramped for much of the ride. Less than ideal, but they were knowledgeable and helpful. I did not notice these things until off the lot, and they were closed, and I needed to load and leave by morning.

The front desk man Sam (I don't know his last name) at the Taos, NM (Metric Motor location) is a pure delight to deal with. He always makes U-haul rentals quick, thorough,and convenient. You are very, very fortunate to have such a kind, caring, professional, employee!
