DID NOT APPRECIATE THE CALL CENTER STAFF. THEY WERE VERY RUDE
I've used Uhaul trailers on several occasions, but this last experience was bad. The trailer dragged worse than hauling a full sized vehicle on a tow dolly, has an oscillation at 30mph that made the whole vehicle shake, and has a whine that vibrates through the hitch that sounded like a bad wheel bearing. your signs indicate a maximum speed of 45 MPH but I was feeling unsafe at 10 MPH. I should have turned around right after I left the store, but I figured I only had a few miles of use so I went with it.
No joke - The 30MPH oscillation was so bad I was concerned that the factory hitch was going to be damaged.
All previous experiences were great so this one was a first. Hope I never have another one like this one.
This location is consistently an easy u haul to deal with. It's always quick and easy, the equipment is always available, and the staff knows what they are doing to get you set up safely.
I don't think I should have been charged for an added day.
I had a good experience with this location and had no problems in overall. Easy pick up, easy drop, fairly quick registration process, therefore keep up the good work!
Emmanuel Addo who handled my pick up was outstanding! Friendly and knowledgable about packing supplies!
Wanted a bigger truck but they told me it had a flat tire took me an extra back and forth with the smaller truck and all the guy could say was sorry for the extra milage and gas I had to pay for
A little low on staff and so it took a while to get someone to check my return, but that's not the employee fault directly, of course.
The closed trailer door would not close. I had to drive 70 miles with roaps across the back of the trailer. I was able to find one small tarp but the furniture I was moving got some leaves,dust, dirt and grit on it from the trip.
Great staff, friendly and professional. Overall experience couldn't have been better. Only issue was that the van smelled of cigarette smoke. This concluded with a massive headache at the end of the 2.5 hr trip.
They provided excellent services. Keep up the great work!
The staff was friendly and helpful. I was in and out quickly when I stopped to pickup the truck and when I dropped off the truck. I've used this location previously and will continue to use the rental services there... good people, good product.
When I checked in, my UHaul rep was cordial, informative and very kind. Very smooth with thorough explanation. However, when I returned the vehicle , Anthony Bartow was rude, unfriendly and charged me $5.00 for a gallon on gas even though van was returned with gas guage reading full. I have rented 3-4 times with Vestal UHaul and this is the first time I have had a problem. I'm sorry you will lose a regular customer because of a rude and uncaring rep.

I don't know how you would improve this location. The employees were courteous, helpful and know their business.
Oil or lubricate the strap ratchet mechanisms once in a while (car transport trailer). I've rented car many car transport trailers from several Uhaul locations and had to use WD-40 on EVERY one - revise your corporate maintenance procedures!!!

I had rented the uhaul over the phone and spoke with a woman named Stephanie. She was very nice and helpful. With her, I had reserved the Uhaul for 24 hours (1pm on 9/25 to 1pm on 9/26). When I arrived to the Uhaul location the man behind the counter (forgot to get his name but I'd recognize him if I saw him) talked me out of the 24 hour rental. He asked if I really needed the Uhaul that long and it would have been beneficial if I had it for 24 hours to make sure I had appropriate help from others to load and unload it along with making sure I had enough time to do travel and do what I needed to do. He made me feel guilty and said, "I don't want to deny a family the uhaul if you really don't need it for 24 hours." Then I had asked if there was someone waiting for the Uhaul and he reported no but in case a family needed it he'd hate to deny them the uhaul... even though there were at least 7 uhauls in the parking lot. It made me feel uneasy and so I told him I would just make sure it was returned that night. However, by doing that I was very stressed out and made sure I got it back... we didn't deliver the Uhaul back until 10pm the 25th. Also, when I got into the driver's seat there were crumbs in the cup holders and some garbage on the floor. I didn't want anyone to think that was me so I went ahead and cleaned it. I appreciate that I was able to rent a uhaul and move out of my apartment but was not 100% satisfied with the experience.

Only complaint is the truck smelled of old stale cigarettes. A non smoking policy in equipment would be nice.
Nothing. Service couldn't have been better and equipment and vehicle quality was as good as it gets. I was very satisfied with choosing this store.
The truck had visible damage and the air bag sensor was flashing. Other than that the truck still ran good and was otherwise in sound mechanical condition. It got the job done and got me back to drop it off
Larry was extremely helpful!! He was very knowledgeable and new what I needed. He helped me out with purchasing what I needed and renting the tool. The moving van was beautiful!! Very clean, spotless and looked like a new moving van! I would rent there again and recommend them to friends and family!! Patrick Bidwell

The after hours check in is horrible. I spent over an hour trying to get myuhaul.com to work correctly and finally gave up called customer service who was no help at all. Finally just left it there and called the store in the morning.

Value of one way rental rates is poor.
The only issue that I have with U Haul is that my reservation is not immediately accepted once it is made on line. Having to wait until the day before to have the reservation confirmed was not pleasant, as we had to have the truck that day. A $50 payment if the truck was not available is totally unacceptable. Imagine making an airline or hotel reservation and not knowing for sure until the day before that you actually had a seat or room. Other than this issue my experiences with U Haul have been good.
The cab of the truck was clean and fresh, but the back had an horrible garbage odor. Service was friendly and efficient.

You need to make sure whomever is making reservations knows the inventory of the location requested. It is hard to believe with the technology of today - the ability to update inventory within minutes - that this would not be possible.

Tried changing my reservation multiple time. This includes trying to change it the day before. The time they tried sticking me with was right before close until shortly after open. Not gonna do my move overnight
I signed up for 8am to 8pm and was called two days prior to tell me I needed to get the truck back by 2. I changed my plans and the plans of my moving friends to accommodate this. When I returned it 2 hours earlier to allow the truck to be rented another time that day I was told that I owed $14 in gas charges (3 gallons or so plus a convenience fee). I had tried to match up the arrow on the gauge to the arrow on the paper work and evidently missed by a bit. I don't understand either why the truck was not full so I did not have to play guessing games with the gauge or they did not just let it slide. I took the truck and put those few gallons in but I have to tell you, after accommodating your wishes and having the mental annoyance of having to deal with the gas situation, I may look elsewhere to rent in the future. I did not give the employee a hard time as I am sure he was just doing his job but that again is the point, is what he did corporate policy?
Don't make customer wait while he is on phone for a long time. I feel I shouldn't have to wait when I was in line first.
The U-Haul agents at this location went out of their way to help me work around a scheduling error made by the 'central' office. Pick-up and drop-off were easy. A good experience at this location. When central schedules, please don't tell people they can't schedule a one-way--and then book them for one! Thanks.
I reserved a motorcycle trailer. I spoke with someone and detailed my needs. When I showed up I was told I had to return it at a time that was impossible. Given that the other reservation preceded mine I was pretty much told I was out of luck. I ended up having to rent a utility trailer with no ramp that had multiple screws and nails in the bed. I was offered no discount or refund. Horrible service.
I reserved at Binghamton site. Told them I had 20 % coupon from Ryder. they said they would give me the same price. Went to pick up and they said they did not have my vehicle it was in Vestal. Went to Vestal to pick up and they said they do not match prices. Not much I could do at that point. Very dishonest of U-Haul.
Vehicle pickup location and availability shown on web and from phone dispatcher did not match information given to us at pickup.

Pulling a piece of equipment (ie a Trailer) out of the shop queue and back into service should not require the customer to ask about the trailer repair status. The Service Rep should inform the customer what the status is. Thanks.
I reserved a 4x8 weeks before needing it... Days before pickup I was to none available.... Yet I was able to locate one on my own.... Some at corp. customer service gave me a good rate price to pick it up at Oswego and drop it in Vestal.... That was a big help!

Hiring honest person to work
Truck was dwlivered a day late.
Our experience with U-Haul was entirely positive and a huge relief. The staff was friendly and helpful, the truck worked fine, and we had no hidden charges or gotchas.
The rental went very well. The van was exactly what I needed and we had no issues with it. The only place for improvement was that it took a while to determine the final price when I dropped it off. The system should automatically calculate the lowest rate but it didn't and the salesman needed to manually correct the calculation.
I'm told this is directed to your call center not the local location which is accurate and not. I was quoted one price and when I brought back the vehicle, I was charged another. I called your number and was told one charge and then charged another. The local supervisor was excellent and resovled my issue, but this is not the first time uhaul has tried this bait and switch tactic. This is or should be illegal and if I have time will complain to the better business burue and state attorney.

Give me a little break on mileage charges if I bring the gas tank back OVER FULL when I took it out at 7/8 full, especially if I show you the gas receipt from a few minutes ago.
However, the had an awesome...un~godly odor!!!
There was a long wait to check in, but we planned for it so it wasn't a problem. There was just one person ahead but it took a while. When we were finished, there was a long line. Maybe it was lunch time. Only 1 person working.
When I arrived they were unsure if they had any packing blankets for me even though I had "reserved" 2 dozen. The UHaul staff had the nerve to say to my face that they thought the packs of packing blankets on their shelf were already "reserved." (So that other person's "reservation" counts but mine doesn't?) After pondering for a few seconds the staff member decided it would be okay if he gave me a dozen blankets and expressed this decision like he was providing top quality customer service by giving me half of the packing blankets I had reserved more than a week ago instead of none of the packing blankets I had "reserved." To be clear they did NOT apologize for being unable to provide me with all of the equipment I "reserved" and had to seriously consider whether to give me half of what I "reserved" or absolutely nothing of what I had "reserved."
I "reserved" that equipment for a reason and expected it to be there when I picked up the truck (I confirmed on the phone more than 24 hours prior to my pick up date that all the equipment would be there as well as the truck). It is totally unacceptable that not only is not all the equipment I "reserved" there, but that the staff had to think about whether or not they could give me anything. I expect more than the truck to be ready when I "reserve" more than a truck and I expect the staff to have figured out the equipment allocation ahead of time. With all of the things run by computer these days I seriously doubt that they have no electronic means of keeping tabs on their inventory so they can allocate equipment ahead of time to fulfill each "reservation." So the staff here is either grossly incompetent when it comes to monitoring their inventory or they have the worst (or no?) system for keeping tabs on their inventory.
Add to the fact that 24 hours before my original move date I was called by UHaul to be informed that they had 0 trucks within a 70 mile radius that they could rent to me and I had to push back my move date a full 24 hours (forcing me to scramble to find extra friends to help since some of my friends who were planning to help couldn't do so on the new day for my move). Given that the problems mentioned above regarding knowing their inventory (be it incompetence or a poor inventory system) I guess it's no surprise that they wouldn't have had any trucks available on the original day of my "reservation."
So overall be ware that while it's called a "reservation" in reality it's just a request. You might get the truck on the day of your "reservation" or you might not, you might get the equipment you "reserved" or you might not. If UHaul is not going to provide the truck and all of the equipment I "reserve" don't call it a "reservation" call it what it actually is: a "request."
I arranged on line and needed to be out on time. However it took me over 25 minutes to check out , This timing was very important to coordination of a lot of people which really cost me. I was told the computer was down again which happens frequently. Highly frustrated.
These guys were amazing. Called me the day after to make sure we were doing okay. Checked out the equipment fully and it took less than 10 minutes.
There is poor coordination between the call center and the local store. My reservation 9am-5pm reservation was changed to 7am-2pm, with no prior discussion with me. The call center changed it back to 9-5 for me when I called, then I got call from the local store saying it was only available 7-2. In the end this worked out, but I had zero confidence what I wanted would be there when I showed up - not a good feeling for a store that posts "Guaranteed Reservations" on its outside sign.
Everything went smooth as could be.

The clasps on the U-box were damaged. Staff disorganized. I reserved online and stopped in the day before to confirm in person, took 90 min to pick up box, @ drop-off they had no idea I was coming
