My husband requests diesel trucks be available for the fuel economy. I personally don't mind.

The return of the equipment was a snap. The person who accepted my return was pleasant, courteous, efficient, and thourough. However, the person from whom I made the initial rental was very aloof, not very helpful, and simply did not seem to care about my concerns. I attempted to rent a truck at another lcation, but they did not have the size truck that I desired. I had already made a charge on my credit card at that location, and I requested some sort of receipt indicateing that my account would be credited with the amount charged. I was informed that the credit receipt would be at the Alsip location waiting for me. When I inquired about this at the Alsip location, I was met with a blank stare, and informed that they had no idea as to how I would receive proof that the prior transaction had been cancelled. I mean, how difficult would it have been for the person at that locatio to pick the phone, made some sort of inquiry as to the procedure regarding the credit to my account. He made it abundantly clear that he simply did not care. The transaction with them was complete, and I was on my own. Needless to say, this bothered me for several days until I received proof that my account had indeed been credited. Due to the lack of concern regarding my situation, I would not recommend this location anyone in the future.

There was confusion about duration of rental. This may be more a problem with the website. On a different occasion, when I was only browsing, I noticed that rental period was only 6 hours, and I went back to the beginning to re-select 24 hours and noticed that there was no difference in price. When I actually reserved a truck this last time, I don't even remember seeing anything about rental period. When I picked up the truck at 9:00 AM, the attendant mentioned a return time of 1:00 PM which was way to soon for my needs. Fortunately, they were able to extend that to 4:00 PM when the truck was needed for the next reservation. I made a big effort to get it back by then, leaving some furniture sitting in the front yard at our destination to take the truck back in time, and then return to move the items into the house. I have no problem with your managing a tight schedule to optimize utilization of your equipment, but I might suggest making rental period a bit more clear at the time of reservation. Other than that, I was very pleased with your service.

The truck that was given to me for the rental should have NEVER been on the road! The brakes were TERRIBLE! I had my wife and daughter in the truck with me and we all were launched out of our seat trying to stop! (Thank goodness we all had our seatbelts on!) Please! please! please! service that truck before you put another family's life in danger!!! Please call me! Equipment number: GH 0586J AA97541 AZ

It's hard to improve on excellence. The staff was friendly, efficient, and willing to assist us any way they could. The cargo van was pretty much brand new; very clean and problem free. I would definitely come to this facility for my future rentals.

My equipment looked new! But I drove from Chicago to Atlanta and the ride was terrible. The front end of the truck was difficult to steer straight and the truck could not take any bumps, it would pull the truck out of the lane. Customer service is excellent at this location

The mechanics of your trailers are very good but when people see them with the decals peeling off, you get the point. I use the trailers to move sound equipment and when I show up, decals that are coming off looks tacky.

Picking up the equipment was fine but returning the equipment was a problem. As I pulled up I saw another rental truck parked facing the opposite way in the return lane. As I could not pull all the way up I parked as close as possible. Once I entered the rental office I was told that a man outside would check me in. As I went to exit I was also told that I would have to pull up. I explained that there was another truck in the way and a female worker (I learned later her name was Arnetta) insisted there was space and that she could do it. Arnetta maneuvered the truck in between a customer's vehicle and the aforementioned truck narrowly missing hitting both vehicles. A young man began to check the truck for damages and finding none he climbed into the truck and turned the key. He said the gas gauge as below a half and needed to be returned to half a tank. I remarked that the tank was reading 1/2 when I pulled up and even remarked to my passenger before exiting the truck. He said that Uhaul would charge me $30 to return the truck to 1/2 tank of gas. I told him that prior to Arnetta restarting the truck and insisting that the truck be pulled to the door that the truck was at a half tank. We went back inside and explained the situation. Arnetta said that the truck must be returned at half tank and that I could speak with someone else but they would tell me the same. She said this in an argumentative tone not usually reserved for customers. Another representative then told me that in order to return the tank to 1/2 I would need to go to a gas station and put 4 gallons of gas in the tank. He also mentioned that the vehicle uses more gas because it is a truck. I took the truck to the gas station and noticed while waiting for a light that the gas gauge returned to 1/2 tank as it was when I first tried to return it. I put gas in the truck (for the 2nd time) and returned to the rental facility. When I pulled up the gas gauge was a millimeter above 1/2 tank but dropped to exactly 1/2 when I put it in park. The rest of check out went fine. Uhaul needs to teach there representatives that using condescending and argumentative tones with customers is not allowed. I will not be renting from this facility again.

I have tried to rent the same equipment from this location before, that I dropped off today, and have been denied because of the look of my truck. Stop being so judge mental!

I've used U-Haul for years, whether its moving my home or when I'm opening new offices. This is the absolute last time. The staff could have cared less, and was absolutely lazy. When we showed up nothing was ready even though I had done the early registration online. I had to load the pads up myself, no one walked us around the vehicle and that is where my troubles began. Like every other 24 ft. truck I've rented this one was older and not in the best of shape. Its a moving truck, as long as it can get me from point A to point B that is all I can ask for, I thought. So we drive off to the pickup the load in Mt. Greenwood (Chicago). Load everything up in about 1.5 hours. Leave for Orland Park to drop everything off, about 20 minutes away. Unload everything in about 1.5 hours and head back to Alsip to drop off the truck. My crew consisted of myself, three friends, two Chicago police officers. We drop the truck off, only one person from the morning crew was still there, everyone else is new. Check in the truck everything is fine. Walking out to my car and out of nowhere a girl comes running out of the office covered in Tattoo's saying that damage wasn't there before. She knew exactly where the damage was, even though she wasn't out there until that moment, strange. So now were being told we are responsible for the damages!! I explain to them that the damage wasn't from us, this type of damage would have been caused by some sort of side impact. Supposedly the gas tank was leaking as well. Here is the kicker, you have to return the truck with the same amount of gas as when you picked it up, in our case half a tank. Well it was at about 5/8 when we picked the truck up and when we got back to the store we had finally hit half a tank, so we never even needed to get gas. So if there was a supposed leak, how did that work out, this whole thing is a scam. When we went back to get more info they wouldn't tell us anything. We did purchase the insurance, but supposedly that doesn't cover this type of damage. I would assume that by how lax they are, there was someone that missed this when the truck was returned before. Most likely the same girl was responsible for that oops, that is now trying to say we caused the damage. The whole thing is absolutely disgusting. U-Haul as a company should be embarrassed.

Very particular about fuel levels upon return of vehicle & didn't appreciate threat of police if we didn't return truck on time.
