At 6:24pm on Saturday 9/13, I attempted to return a 14-foot rental truck at the Davis U-Haul location. I had picked up the truck that same morning from the U-Haul location in Mountain View, CA. The contract, which had been printed out in Mountain View, showed an incorrect amount, 3/8, for the fuel gauge. The manager of the Mountain View branch, Javid Shaghel, noticed the error before he gave me the keys to the vehicle. Javid amended the contract with a black ball-point pen to show that the fuel gauge was actually at 1/8. He signed it with his initials "J.S." I returned the truck in Davis after hours. The gate was locked and nobody responded when I pressed the call button on the intercom. When I called the office on my cell phone, a female voice answered, "Are you the guy at the gate?" Apparently they could see me but wouldn't come out to talk. "We're closed. Park at the curb and leave the key in the orange Key Drop box." It hadn't occurred to me at the time that there would be a dispute over the fuel reading on the contract, so I just did as she said. I received an email at 10:03am on 9/14 notifying me that a $74 refuel charge had been issued. My first phone in my attempt to clear up this matter was at 1:13pm 9/14 to the Davis location. Nobody answered, so I had to leave a message. My 2nd phone call, to the Davis location, was at 2:17pm. The male representative with whom I spoke insisted that "the paperwork" showed there being 3/8 of a tank when I started. He said I needed to call the Mountain View location. When I attempted to offer to scan & send to him a copy of Javid's hand-written amendment, he interrupted me in mid-sentence with a gruff "Listen!", threatened to hang up on me, and repeated that the paperwork showed 3/8. The demeanor and tone of voice of the representative at the Davis U-Haul location was very rude and unprofessional. If this person had been my employee and if I had witnessed the call, I would have given him a stern warning afterwards that such treatment of a customer is completely unacceptable. I would advise him that he should have taken ownership of the issue, called the MtView location himself, gotten verification of the contract amendment, and then gotten back to the customer. Given the poor service the customer had received, I would insist that the rep send the customer a written apology. I would also consider giving the customer at least a partial refund on his rental to show that U-Haul takes customer service seriously and that its apology was more than just lip service. After hanging up from the unsatisfactory call with Davis U-Haul, my 3rd phone call was to the Mt View location. They referred me to U-Haul Customer Service and gave me their phone number. My 4th call, to U-Haul CustSvc, resulted in them "opening a file" for the matter, but they then referred me back to MtView. My 5th call, to MtView again, reached a person named Scott. Scott listened to my story, recognized the "JS" init

This is one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had in my life. When I arrived at the drop-off location the gate was closed and locked, I was told that the location had 24-hour drop off on the phone, by a u-haul employee. Luckily, someone using the storage service arrived and let me in. However, I was not able to get out of the gate again and was stuck inside. Whoever was working at the drop-off location came outside and was extremely rude with me. He told me that I should have left the u-haul parked on the street, why would I do this when there is a dolly in the back of it that I'm responsible for? When I asked him if he would like me to move the truck(extremely politely I might add) he replied, "no, just give me the keys and get out of here." AND THEN HE GRABBED THE KEYS OUT OF MY HANDS, turned his back, and walked away. I have never been so offended by a business in my life. I apologized for coming onto his property after he yelled at me for being on private property, and was still met with such rudeness. I understand that this facility is not an actual u-haul owned business, but u-haul customers have to deal with their extremely rude employees.

Get new owners. I had better service when they weren't around. She was so miserable and gave me so much attitude and made me feel stupid when I didn't understand something. I will NEVER step foot in that place again and neither will my 7 friends and their families who were with me when I experienced such horrible customer service. She made the whole ordeal extremely unpleasant.

Some how miles were wrong on truck preliminary paperwork. Paperwork indicated the trip A millage. Good thing "I" caught it or would have paid for 1800 miles of use? Yikes!

The pickup truck is like brand new, only 2000 miles used, I love it! However, when I was filling the gas tank, I think it would be easier for every customer to fill the whole gas tank so customers don't need to calculate how much gas they should add. If add less, they will be charged; add more, they lose a little bit. Maybe this is how u-haul makes money.

I made reservations in Feb for an 31 Aug for 3 days which was guaranteed and quoted a price of $60. Early Aug I was informed you could not provide a truck at this location and I would be contacted to where I could pick up a truck. One day prior to the pickup I received an email saying I could pick up the truck at another location in Davis. I went to the new location and they said there were no trucks available. I was then told I had to go 59 miles to Lodi CA, the nearest location for a truck!!! On top of that because the demand for trucks in Davis was so high, my rate got raised to and estimate of $100 for 3 days, obvious price gouging. Still trying to settle the bill 2 days later.

You have an inch length gas gauge, and when it looks like it's still on the quarter tank line when you fill it up and return it, it's actually not up to their standards. It's a scam: they don't mention it when they rush you out (it's in the fine print of course for $30), and they say, "fill it up to about a quarter tank). Make it clear to customers that the gauge needle needs to be past the quarter tank line. Brilliant way to take even more money, though.

South Davis, CA U-Haul was great! 3 weeks ago they said they'd have a 17' truck for me, yet UHAUL corporate on the phone, said - they can't promise that - something about a local versus a one-way truck. I took South Davis U-Haul at its word, and they were men of their word. Thank you for making the move easier.

I called the 800 number they told me to pick up my truck from one location and we they called me back they told me to pick up the truck from a fairway location and they gave me a quote was complitely different and it was more money I had a really hard time with a lady her name was Stacy she was rude desrespectful on the phone I was going to call and talk to her manager I will never ever use U haul or recommend it to any one my worst experience ever
