I really had a pleasant experience. My first contact was Judy on the phone. She was helpful and gave me information that was correct and helpful. Rich was very professional, the facility was clean and professional (still under reconstruction). My estimate clearly explained and was resolved with no difficulty. I would definitely use them again.

The window wouldn't go all the way up. The manager did fix it, but my thoughts are that the person who checked in this truck didn't do their job very well. The manager was very accommodating.

Richard Coleman, the manager here went above and beyond for me. When the website overbooked u-boxes he quickly found a temporary solution and then moved my stuff for me into an available box the next day. He was extremely helpful and personable.

Misleading info: told upon reservation would have 342 miles for two way trip-only given 270 miles for a one way trip; not told upon picking up that a contract would be signed and credit card had to be swiped-father picked up uhaul; inspection man was very rude; was told card would not be charged until vehicle was returned-instead card was charged on the day of pick up; had to call corporate office twice to get issue resolved because this branch would not return my phone calls; took too much effort just to close back of truck-would get stuck close to bottom; DO NOT have Teri reserve vehicle for you-she will mislead you as well; box trucks have horrible gas mileage; extremely slow service in main office; overall felt very taken advantage of and it was blatantly obvious that was their intent and that they did not care about customer appreciation

I will NEVER!!! rent from U-Haul again! Tjhis was the absolute WORST experience that I have ever had customer service wise. I reserved a 20' truck 6/14/14 with Bobby from Self Storage located @1945 Cornwallis rd Durham,NC 27713. I provided my cell # and work # as well as my email. Immediately he sent me a confirmation email including the pick up date-Below is a cut & paste from the email : Dear Lisa Lamb, We thank you for choosing U-Haul to make your move easier. The rate(s) for the rental equipment that you were quoted for pick up on Saturday, June 28, 2014 for 24 hours. 20' Moving Van $39.95 plus mileage Plus a $1.00 environmental fee. The rate(s) quoted will expire in 24 hours and are subject to change if you change your pick up date. To confirm your reservation and guarantee your rate with a credit card, call us anytime at 919-361-1095. To confirm your reservation using cash, please stop by one of our 16,000+ convenient locations. Thanks again. We are looking forward to serving you. Sincerely, SECURITY SELF STORAGE 1945 E CORNWALLIS RD DURHAM, NC 27713 919-361-1095 Almost immediately, things went wrong. I called the above # (which I later found out was just a catch all mail box that got router to some centralize location answering center & never was picked it at the location) To ask about the pick up time as it was not on the email. I got a call a few days later and was told that They didnt see the reservation? The store rep re-entered all my information AGAIN and re-verified it also, he confirmed that the truck was going to be there when I needed it. When I arrived to pick up my truck I was informed that the truck wasn't there. It has been rented out to someone who wanted it for a ONE WAY trip to Alabama, or something? I was told that the notes in the system stated that U-Haul tried to call me ...but my cell # & email had been deleted from the system and that my work # (Duke Caridiology) had no answer repeatedly??? The information was complete LIES !!! The rep told me that they were only a dealership and that really had no control as it was a company decision to make the changes. I told them that I didnt even know how to get to the location- it was in Raleigh, by the airport. They gavey me Google directions & when I looked at the miles from the cornwallis location to the new location it added 5+ additioanl miles. I voiced my concerns as I told them I didnt feel that I should have to pay for those 10+ round trip miles. The rep told me that he would suggest that i get thwe 0.59 cents a mile rate. I asked him if he would note that in the system & he said he could not as I wasnt picking up the truck from them?! Unbelievable???!! Once I arrived to the Raleigh Location I spoke to a rep Teri- who told me she would give me 0.79 cents per mile for the inconveince ( even though I was told at the previous location 0.59 cents) and also that I couldnt pay by check She stated that U-haul doesn't take checks. This was my second time using this location and I had better than average customer service both times. I would like to point out a couple of things: 1. I had a long wait when picking up the vehicle due to new personnel still being trained however they were very professional. Once the manager came in he had me checked out in no time. 2. The van had damage that was not notated. I took pics before leaving the property just in case there was a problem when I brought the vehicle back. 3. When I brought the vehicle back the system was going to charge me for two days and two environmental fees. When I brought it to the employees attention she had no problem adjusting the number of days I was charged but was unable to change the environmental fee. I told her not to worry about calling someone to fix that problem.

Rich (GM for this location) was extremely accommodating. When a late return made it appear he would not have the equipment I reserved, he went to great lengths to find the 6x12 trailer at another location (30 miles away). Rich clearly has customer service in his DNA and he runs this location as if it were his own. Great job, Rich!

I was redirected to this location when I went to the location where I had made my prior reservation. I was all hooked up and then was told I could not take the trailer from my reservation location, that I had to go to this location instead. I had not received any advance notice that I would be redirected, and this caused nearly a 3-hour delay in picking up the reserved equipment. I had to pay packers for an extra hour because they sat around for 1-hour waiting for me to arrive with the trailer. I am not happy with this service at all. Also, I do not believe that the trailer brakes were working properly enroute. Overall, this was possibly the worst combined experience I have ever had with UHaul, where for the most part I have always been very satisfied.
