Staff at this location were ok, kinda lazy, and he didn't know how to install my hitch I bought from them. So I did it myself laying on my gravel driveway at the end of December when its snowing. I ended up having to drive to another state (100 miles) to pick up the trailer they rented me because there wasn't one here and they wouldn't bring it up. Uhaul corporate misquoted and miswrote my contract. The East Madison, WI store said that this would be ok. I ended up getting 2 days extra charge anyway for $40. Severely not cool. Then, I apparently got a toll ticket for $6 and instead of UHaul even giving me a courtesy call, they sent me to collections! Both Mark and Sarah in customer service and credit collections were professional and helpful, but the issue was not resolved to near satisfaction. It will be a cold day in hell if I ever rent from this company again. What a hassle that I'm just happy to wash my hands of. Steer Clear!

I would like to be informed earlier if I have to pick up at a different location. I would like the location I selected to be available on the day I selected it. I would like the truck I selected to be available. Basically, I want the reservation I made to be kept (which is the most important part of a reservation). If I order from one location, my mileage should be based off of the location I selected and not where I am sent.

The staff was friendly, but I had issues at both "check in" and "check out." On the front end the man who was helping me had problems with the computer software. The computer was freezing up and the key pad I was supposed to use was slow and also froze up during the transaction. When I brought the truck in for check in I was greeted by someone who wanted to check me in on his phone. I said that I would want a paper receipt and he said that would not be a problem. He struggled for a few minutes to get the phone app to work but it finally seemed to work so we moved through the check in process. We went inside to get a receipt and that led to 15 minutes of waiting. Trying to find my order on the computer was apparently difficult. We had problems with computer screens locking up and no fewer than 4 staff were involved in trying to complete my transaction. I suspect the issue was compounded by the cell phone app check-in process but given that I experienced other computer problems earlier in the day I'm not sure what the issue was completely. Staff seemed to indicate that computer problems were the norm. I didn't feel confident that my personal, confidential information wasn't floating around on about 3 different pieces of equipment, including someone's cell phone. I have previously had a computer issue at this same U-Haul facility - screen locked after I entered my credit card and I was told it might take a while so I just paid with cash. One unrelated item was the way the furniture dolly was placed in the truck for me - wheels down so it rolled and banged around the entire time we traveled to our destination. It should have been secured or placed on its back.

When I ordered online, the site said that my supplies would be ready when I arrived. However, as I've experienced at this site before, the staff were clueless when I walked in. They said I needed to bring a printed receipt when I came in - do they have any idea what the internet is for? Come on! This store has poor integration with the Uhaul "mother ship" and the staff are constantly confused, slow, and focused more on talking to each other than to their customers. Will not use them again.

When i picked up my rental, the person who helped me was in hurry to get out of there because his shift was ending at 1PM. He didnt go over the contract with me he just handed it to me. I noticed after i left that the mileage was different then what was on the contract. When i returned it they said there was nothing you they could do and i was stuck with paying for an additional 24 miles. They did find the last hard copy of the last time the truck was rented and the return mileage wasn't on there. He said yeah its our fault and then only offered me 15 miles less, leaving we with still having to pay for 9 miles I didnt use. Overall my experience was below average and will definitely look at other option before the next time i come back to this location.

First truck I got had the engine light come on when I called to let them know right away of the issue, the guy on the phone asked me if the truck was actually having problems or if I could keep driving it. As a manager that didnt seem to be approriate to me. They also wanted to have me pay the mileage that I had already driven after I had to turn around and bring the truck back and get a different one. After talking to them the agreed to not worry about the first trucks mileage which made me feel like I was being taken care of. But employees shouldnt ask that trucks be driven if they have a potential mechanical issue or a bad sensor that doesnt function right.

Employee that hooked up auto transport for me was top notch. He works very hard and deserves a raise. Equipment was only fair. It worked, but ratchets were froze up. I had to oil them myself with my own oil before they would work However price was good and it worked to get the job done. I will return.

I needed to rent a truck to haul a recently acquired item to my home. Total round trip, from the pick-up location, picking up the item, taking to my house, and returning the truck was under 7 miles - yes I live very close to the rental location. Shame on me for not double-checking the mileage on the truck when starting out; either the odometer on the vehicle is broken or the starting mileage on the rental paperwork was 23 miles less than what was indicated on the odometer. I had the truck back in less than 45 minutes and explained what had happened, but to no avail - and was changed for more than 4 times the mileage I actually drove. I will never rent from u-haul again and will make it a point to tell others to do the same. You lost a customer for life. Thank you for making this decision so easy.

The truck we were rented had to be jumped before we were able to drive off of the lot. The guy inside told us it had to be jumped because the dome light was left on then another guy told us the battery was replaced. After we had the truck packed and were trying to head to our new house the truck wouldn't start. We had to have someone come jump it for it to start. The people who jumped the truck left immediately then once we pulled out of the driveway the truck wouldn't go over 5 miles an hour then it got stuck going over a hill in the middle of the road so we had to call roadside assistance again who told us to call the cops then we had to call them back. A tow truck had to come tow the truck to our new house. The entire process took just under 4 hours so we couldn't get any unpacking done while the sun was out. They did say to take our time with the truck but we wouldn't have had to if they changed the battery so the truck worked correctly.

Upon arrival they did not have the 20' truck we had reserved 2 weeks earlier. They sent us 4 miles down the road to another location that rented us a 14' truck with a trailer in tow. Very inconvenient for maneuvering in metropolitan Madison, Wi.

This was an awesome experience, great people, great service, all was flawless. Unlike my experience at the Madison, Wisconsin Verona Road location which was one of the worst customer service episodes of my life. Awful customer service, rude manager, horrible. I would use the Platte Drive location again for sure, they did a great job, they should be used as examples of what good service should be to your other locations.

I was treated rudely at check-in/return of the van at 5:30. Ignored, then the clerk walked away from me when I was trying to describe a slight problem that was showing up on the dash with tire pressure symbol being on. I was talking about the problem and he rudely walked away and started assembling cardboard box stacks and cutting them apart with a box cutter, leaving me at register alone. Will not visit this location again
