  • I very rarely leave 5 stars reviews for anything, but if I could give these guys 6 stars, I would. They were the best movers I have ever hired. As an autistic woman with CPTSD due to domestic violence, I have a hard time trusting other people when it comes to touching my stuff, especially antique family heirlooms like my grandma's piano and my dad's music library. I am perfectionistic and very particular, almost paranoid, so I was surprised by how relaxed and safe I felt around Michael, Heather, and Jerry. They were truly phenomenal and professional. I had to call UHaul customer service 8 times to resolve issues with the UBox reservation, which was so stressful since it was delayed twice due to a sick delivery driver, but arranging the details via text with Michael was so simple and straightforward. I appreciate how flexible and accommodating they were about changing the loading date and time. They were also extremely efficient (it only took 2.5 hours), reassuring, and careful.

  • These guys were great. Confirmed the move date and time right away, checked in a couple of times leading up to the move date and were on time and efficient on the day of the move.   • I can’t possibly recommend them enough! They are incredibly communicative, and I was able to get scheduled for the next day. They were also very quick and treated all the items with care. They even helped take apart some of the furniture and re-assemble it! We had a mishap where customer service cancelled it, in the middle of the appointment, but they were very kind and easygoing while we got it resolved. Very professional and trustworthy people, I’m so grateful for their hard work

  • I’m always apprehensive about hiring someone to help with such an important task. I must say not only did this crew meet my expectations, but they exceeded them by far! They were friendly, flexible and courteous, punctual, and demonstrated great teamwork and safety. I was on such a tight budget that I selected one of the lesser costs and couldn’t be more satisfied with the value I received.   • Michael is a great guy and an excellent worker! We moved across states overnight and needed help unloading our truck immediately to avoid an upcoming snow storm. We contacted Smooth Handlers late the evening we arrived in hopes we would hear from someone first thing in the morning. We promptly received a response from Michael with a very pleasant and professional greeting. He mentioned that he already had a morning appointment scheduled, but was more than willing to accommodate us following said appointment despite the pending storm. He even brought extra helpers to ensure the job was completed quicker and everyone could get back home safely. That’s a great employer! He’s a very personable individual with a great work ethic. Our items were unloaded promptly and carefully into our home in less time than planned and he even went with us to our storage unit to drop off some items that would not fit into our new place. Exceptional work and a wonderful experience! Hire him! I will again.

  • We moved from Chicago to indy and hired Smooth Handlers Movers to help us unload our UHaul once we got to indy. We had some delays getting to indy (completely our own fault) and they were so kind and willing to change their schedule to still come once we got there. They were very flexible and quick to reply. The owner and his wife ended up coming to help us move because it was after hours by the time we got to indy. I was so thankful for them and couldn’t recommend them enough! Once they arrived they went right to work and kept at it until the job was done. Their communication leading up to the job was fantastic and clear, including communicating their ETA the morning of the job. Michael, Heather, and Paul were amazing. They arrived right on time and could not have been more professional and courteous. In addition to their professionalism, the whole crew was incredibly kind and made sure they placed every single box and piece of furniture in the correct location. Not only that, but they were careful with everything. They worked hard to ensure everything was handled delicately. They worked nonstop for the 2 hours we had them and they had unbelievably great attitudes despite working in the sun and heat. Should we move again, we would be incredibly lucky to hire them. This individual even complained that they are not very strong and was not sure how much they could help. My husband and I, both of which are over 50 ended up doing over 50 percent of the work. My husband ended up, having to carry up the loveseat, couch, and two dressers. The whole reason we hired movers was to help with the heavy lifting. After 15 minutes of work they were already taking a break. It was very disappointing to pay money for two hours of work expecting people to be able to move your stuff into an apartment as promised and then have to do the work mostly yourself. We went with this group because of the previous reviews. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. I would not recommend.

  • Goodness! There aren't enough characters. My partner and I were in a terrible accident and had to reschedule. Smooth Handlers were helpful, empathetic, communicative, and when they arrived ON TIME, they were joyful, personable, and informative. This was AFTER they spent a full day doing other moves. They are expert real life Tetris players, they shrink wrapped nearly everything. I am impressed, but also grateful. It was like having professional movers as friends that came to help. They even threw away some things we were disposing of. Incredible. Reserve with them if they have availability. Four of my furniture items were damaged because they were dragged down the stairs by one person or poorly placed in the truck. Michael and Zach were on-time, they worked hard the entire 2-hrs without a break, and they did all of the heavy lifting without complaint. We wrapped the furniture beforehand, so it was 2-hrs of constant moving in-and-out of a retirement complex. Michael was also very flexible with the schedule due to overnight snow, and he even allowed me to assist them. I should also mention that they were very careful with corners and doors to prevent damage. The furniture made it to North Carolina without any damage. Thank you!!!

  • Although there were a few snags including, a family emergency for the owner, then an hour and half before the move I get a text saying his workers had been hospitalized in a car accident. But Michael secured two gentlemen to help last minute. It was definitely a little hairy to start as one guy arrived 30 minutes before the other gentleman. They took an extra 20 or so minutes after driving to the new place and weren't the speediest in terms of moving, but overall they packed the uHaul beautifully. Nothing was damaged and Kenny especially was very nice. Jeremy as well. For the price of this company, I would go for it. Just over communicate and plan for a backup.
