• Overall good, job got done efficiently once they arrived. Busy time of the month for them so I get it being late shit happens. First guy was 40 mins late, and then told me he was going to find the second guy and then he never came back and blocked my number. 30 mins later the second guy showed up, and then eventually a third person was able to be quickly reassigned to my job, so that was good. Both the 2nd and 3rd guy Ken and Argenis were great and knew what they were doing and how to move large items and were professional. Both of them definitely deserve a raise for their appetite for success. Thankfully them being late wasn’t much of a problem since U-HAUL let me keep the truck longer for no additional cost. Would recommend again but definitely need to work on overall organization of schedule and punctuality. Having both people show up on time would be ideal. First guy saying he was going to find the other guy and then just leaving and ghosting me rubbed me the wrong way.

• I chose this company because they had a good rating and over 260 reviews. They completed the job, but not in the time frame that was supposed to happen. I hired them for 4 hours, and the first hour and a half they were great in getting the truck loaded at my first location. The younger of the two says they are running to a friends only 15 minutes away to help move some things, I asked how long they might be because it would take 45 to an hour to get the loaded truck to my other location for unloading, he said maybe another 15 minutes. I said ok but if I needed them passed 1;30 which was the 4 hour mark I’d expect them to stay. That was around 10;45am. They didn’t come to the 2nd location until almost 2pm. During that time I spoke with customer service which extended my use of the truck free of extra charges, and found out that this moving company had double booked during my 4 hour timeframe. They came, finished the job, but highly frustrating and unprofessional. Won’t use again.

• We had an additional furniture that was added at the last minute. The helpers moved that and ranted about it. Me and my friend did the rest of it. Finishing their task from 2 hours to just 1 hour. I can understand that the furniture was big , but the rest of the time, the move was done sloppily and we did the rest ourselves - unloading the truck and moving it up the flights etc. I will try to do a better communication but that does not absolve the required time of labor that was needed to be put in.

• Service overall was great. We moved from my building downtown all the way to upper east in just under 3 hours. The upper east side apartment is a walk-up, and team was able to help me move all of my boxes up very efficiently.

• Although the cost was exceptionally low and the movers were hard working, they damaged walls and furniture. They really need to learn the best techniques and have the best equipment for protecting furniture and walls when navigating stairs. Next time, I will consider a higher cost mover if the quality is higher. However, I would consider Charles Moving for less important moves, like dorm or storage type moves. I still gave them a tip for their efforts.

• Friendly, understanding. The movers were a little TOO friendly (chatty), and one seemed like he was new to the job. Unfortunately, the move took 4 hours, and we ended up leaving items, because the truck wasn't packed properly. One mover disappeared for 10-15 minutes, and the other mover didn't know where he was--we ended up packing some of the truck, which is NOT why we hired movers. Had we not helped, I can't imagine how long it would have taken them to finish, nor do I think we would have fit what we did in the truck. Fortunately, Charles (the owner) agreed to only charge $50 extra for all the extra time (2 hours total), and he was very understanding about our frustrations with the movers.

• The organizer (manager?) was very nice and cooperative, worked with me on scheduling after UHaul canceled my truck the day of and sent me an hour away to pick up another truck. His actual movers, however, were rude, aggressive, damaged furniture, boxes (even those labeled fragile), constantly used profanity and made the analogy that the work of moving was ‘modern day slavery.’ On site, before moving anything constantly asked how much I was going to be tipping them and complained about how much they had to move (which wasn’t much- a one bedroom apartment and everything was already packed). I’m not sure if the business uses other movers too (I hope they do) because the guy coordinating the move was great, it was just the guys themselves that weren’t. We ended up parting on good terms after I tipped them $300 for 2 hours of moving. Perhaps if UHaul didn’t create initial issues the rest could have been prevented, but there’s no way to know.

• Both movers showed up late. One 15 min and the other 45 mins. One didn’t know it was a load-unload. Tried to contact the dispatch. He never answered or replied to my text. Once the worker got there they did an amazing job loading the truck. Once we got to the unload location, they wanted to leave my boxes in the garage instead of putting them in the house. All in all, they got the job done but it took them a little longer than it should have.

• Ben & Paul we’re absolutely amazing and worked really really hard. It was a very large job that I did not plan for correctly but they did everything they could to get it done within a reasonable amount of. Communicating with Joe was amazing as well, he was very accommodating, and just walked me through everything; very personable, I would definitely recommend Charles Movers) for all your needs(due to this experience, I highly suggest getting an job size estimate first so you can plan for the time and the crew size appropriately)
