I'm sure nothing will come of this since the woman who manages this location does not work for U-Haul and clearly has no issues with being rude to customers - but I will never come here again. She was terribly rude, condescending, and hateful. I'm sure she will have the same to say about me, but this is at least my side of the story. I drove from out of town (2.5 hours away) to pick up a U-Haul and move some items to my new home (all of this is due to a divorce). I made the U-Haul reservation online and received two text messages and an e-mail confirming that the truck would be ready to pick up at noon. I got there at 12:30 and as I was driving up, the manager called my cell phone to tell me the truck was actually not scheduled to be returned until 2:30. Granted I was upset that I was told noon and then not called at 12:30 to say that the time had changed, but the manager never once apologized for the confusion or offered any type of solution. She was immediately hostile and defensive and kept saying that she doesn't drive the trucks or work for U-Haul, so it was no concern or responsibility of hers. She berated me for making the reservation online and said that it was much better to call and talk to an actual person - well, that's not always convenient and certainly isn't the way the world works now. She insisted that there were no other trucks available, but I thought she meant at her location - so I went back to my car and called U-Haul to see if there were any other trucks available in Bakersfield. I obviously made her angry, and when the person who reserved the truck brought it back (early thank goodness since I only had the day to be there, get everything loaded, and drive the 2.5 hours back home), she was overly nice to the other customer and looked pointedly at me and told him that her day would be better soon once all of the trucks were gone for the day (clearly indicating that her day would be much better once I was gone). When I stepped up to the counter, her first statement was, "You didn't believe me did you? You had to go and call the U-Haul number to see if there were other trucks in town." She was just so mean and rude. It was an emotional and difficult day for me, and it had actually been shared with her in the beginning that I was going through a divorce and only had a limited time to get my things out of the house, but none of this concerned her at all. She lacks compassion and kindness as well as basic customer service skills. I'm sure she has a completely different story/perception than I do, but I will certainly never come back and will tell others to never use this location. I have a feeling she won't care at all, and I wonder how much longer she will be able to maintain her business if this is her usual practice and demeanor.

Make sure all equipment is repaired, or replaced. Front left side had no tie down. I was transporting an old school Harley Davidson and I had no way of tieing the bike down on that side it feel over. Fortunately their was no damage.
