What Not to Forget on Your Last-Minute Camping Trip

Jun 13, 2023

Last-minute plans can really be fantastic in a lot of ways, especially a last-minute camping trip. Looking at the various campgrounds nearby, deciding what activities will be on the agenda, and getting your gear all packed up can all be very exciting, but at the same time, there is a lot of room for error as well. If you’re not careful, your last-minute camping trip could turn into a disaster if you forget an important item. Here are a few things you should make sure you have before you leave.

What Not to Forget on Your Last Minute Camping TripA Place to Sleep

Forgetting to book a cabin or bring your tent sounds like it might be impossible for some people, but I can say for sure that it’s not. In fact, my wife recently went camping and didn’t realize that her tent was not in its bag until she had already arrived at the site. Always take your tent out and make sure it’s in good working order before you leave, and double-check that it’s in your car as well! There are many things you can do without, but a place to sleep is not one of them.

What Not to Forget on Your Last Minute Camping TripLots of Propane

It can be surprising how many different uses there are for propane while camping; it’s certainly not just fuel for your camp stove anymore. Keep warm at night using a buddy heater, light up your campsite with a lantern, or even use it for your campfire. Propane and camping go hand in hand, so make sure your tanks are filled to the brim before you leave. And yes, I definitely mean fill them as opposed to exchanging them. Filling is always cheaper.

What Not to Forget on Your Last Minute Camping TripEquipment For A Last-Minute Camping Trip

Last but not least, think about what activities you’ll want to partake in while you’re out camping. Is there a lake nearby? If so, will you be fishing? Do they have a bait shop at the campgrounds, or should you stock up on that beforehand? By thinking these questions through you will cut down the likelihood of forgetting something important. Camping will be fun no matter what, but by stocking up on the right equipment, you can really make it an unforgettable experience.
