March Madness is here so it’s time to go out and support your favorite team. With a DIY March Madness chalkboard, you can say the right things at the right time during the game to encourage your team on to the championship!

DIY Chalkboard PaintStep 1:

First, lay out the recycled paper on the floor or table. This will be your working space and prevent your floor and furniture from getting stained. Be sure to wear old clothes just in case you get a little messy during the project.

Step 2:

Using the box cutter, cut out a rectangle out of an old cardboard box. When cutting out the board, make sure you practice safe cutting techniques and cut away from your body. Then set it flat on your recycled paper.

Step 3:

Be sure to spray or paint it evenly from one side of the poster to the other to ensure that you don’t leave a blank patch. If you are spraying chalkboard paint, make sure to hold the can about 10 inches from the cardboard surface to prevent the accumulation of paint. Begin spraying (or painting) the chalkboard paint onto the piece of cardboard you cut out.

Step 4:

If you would like to add another coat of paint let the board dry for about 10 minutes before applying another light coat. Apply as many coats as necessary.

Step 5:

Let the board dry for a few hours and then write out the message you want your favorite team to see!

As a safety precaution you should do this project outside so the fumes do not build up inside your home. After using the paints, store them safely away from the reach of children. If you do get paint on yourself no worries; try to wash it off sooner rather than later so it is easier to remove!
