To who this may concern: I was originally quoted in N Brunswick, NJ (Brunswick Auto) a 4x8 utility van for the price of $293. When I was arranging pickup date and time the unit was not available in N Brunswick, NJ. The only available location to obtain the unit was in 394 4th Ave.Brooklyn, NY. I had to travel from N Brunswick to Brooklyn an hour and 20 minutes. When I got there they gave me a unit and charge my card $508 for the rental. At this point and time I had to leave to Jacksonville FL and had no choice. I feel that is fair for U-Haul to honor the original rate they had offered me in NJ. The location does not properly document the vehicles coming in and out. After a night drop off and leaving the key in the box I received multiple calls asking when I was returning the vehicle. One guy even said that they had rented out a van earlier that day and didn't get what number it was so they were trying to track it down. Then after multiple calls to uhaul they charged me for an extra days rental/insurance.

I ordered a dolly, which i did not receive. I called half an hour later and was told the dolly would be taken off my bill. I told them when I dropped the van back and they also said it would be taken off my bill. I called the next day when I got my bill and the dolly was still on it. I was told someone would call me back and take the dolly off my bill. I have got no callback and no new bill. Very, very poor service.

I am a repeat customer at the fourth ave location inBrooklyn.my last visit was horrible...it started with me being placed on some list for not returning a van?..who on would rent a van, not return it...then go back to rent there again...I'm actually not surprised, that statement matched the mentality of some of the workers that day.however,I had to call some office and give a number to find that I didn't return equipment..I was then forwarded to a woman that knew nothing...and I'm being generous...during my time on the phone the lines have increased and my patients shortened....an older grey hair employee walks in, so in efforts to inform him of my plight expeditiously...I begun speaking to him quickly as he approached the counter..and I did so respectively...Just to have him shout at me "shut your mouth and stop your rant blah blah blah"..You see I had to stop listening in order to maintain the peace. My situation remained the same, just add shock as icing.I'm here for half hour at this point...I had to ask for a manager which I guess is normal there...You can get yelled at people notice...then you have to ask for the brains of the place....I speak to her...she goes on line and...she tells me it's clear I can rent now..I get the keys and wait another ten minutes before the van appears......the van came and the driver disappeared...so I'm sitting in the van waiting to sign out...more than five minutes pass and I decided to drive off....I stop at the gate boiling get out walk back and ask a guy at the desk to sign me out...he tells me I have to be signed out by the attendant....(who isn't around)...I'm at my boiling point when the manager noticing my anger comes to help..then the attendant appears saying sorry...more blah blah blah...we get to the van...I sign and the attendant heads back to wherever....now I'm just sitting here, not contemplating my experience or plotting my next move...I can't start the van because the attendant took the key....he comes back and says...sorry...That would sum up my Uhaul experience..... Sorry.

When I called I asked to speak to a manager. I was informed that I was speaking to Jay. Got to location and there's no Jay that works there. The young lady at the front was upset and rude at the fact that I was asking questions regarding my credit card usage. I've paid cash before in other locations to rent.

I was given conflicting information by several employees regarding how I could add a second driver to my contract. Ultimately, because of this, I was unable to add a second driver, and had to drive all the way from New York to Chicago myself. This was very frustrating.

Offer some basic reward for returning the vehicle clean, on time, gas level returned at the same level taken out other than not being monetarily penalized for any of the aforementioned infractions. It would be nice to get a mile free or a rate reduction as a reward.

The air conditioner in the truck would stop after ~40 minutes, and caused me to drive from New York to D.C. in a hot, humid truck without air-conditioning!

First, I was supposed to pick up my car from the Uhaul at 1127 Gas Corp in Brooklyn, NY on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 6:00 PM. They called at 11:30am to tell me that I could not pick up my truck until 7:30pm and that they couldn't give me the 10' truck I ordered but would give me a 14' truck instead. When I got there a few minutes before, they made me wait at least 10 minutes and then told me the truck I had reserved was stolen. They still made me wait and then sent me to the Park Slope location - it was already after 8pm. When I got to the Park Slope location they said I could not pick up the truck because it was after 8pm. My brother and I told them that we were sent in a cab to that location to pick it up and there was no way for us to get back. Apparently, the 1127 Gas Corp location neglected to call to tell them they were sending us over there. Because of the fact that my brother insisted we be given a truck, the customer service agent returned to the location to give it to us. I have no problem with the Park Slope location, but the 1127 Gas Corp location was extremely unprofessional and made us wait over 30 minutes before sending us in a cab to the Park Slope location. My understanding is that I am supposed to receive a $50 refund because the truck was not available for me at the time that I was told I could pick it up, which I have yet to receive - they should have given that to me before sending me in a cab to another location. Also, they knew from 11:30am that morning that they needed me to come in later - but then all of a sudden at 7:30pm the truck was "stolen" and they didn't know I was going to have to wait? Very confusing and unprofessional. I have never had such a terrible experience with Uhaul as I did this time.

The handle/lever used to open and close the windowwas missing which made it a nuisance (and unsafe, while driving) to open and close the window.
