Out of the 8 or 10 U-haul rentals I have had, this is by far the most mixed up one. Ernie's Towing did a good job. The challenge was before getting there. I made the reservation for the site in Easley, SC. I received the e-mail confirmation. I then had the change the reservation from 12 hours to 24 hours. The person on the phone was very helpful and made the change, but did not tell me that because of the change the location changed to Ernie's Towing in Greenville, SC. When we showed up to the Easley location we were directed to the Greenville location 20+ minutes away. I did receive a second e-mail confirmation, but since there was no discussion of a change other than the time I did not open the e-mail. That is my fault, but as I said I had no idea that there was a change accept to the 24 hour usage.
It wasn't so much Ernie's that was the problem U-Haul messed up my order!! So it ended up costing me time, and money. Also, they said that a 17' truck would move a 3 bedroom apartment, or 2 bedroom apartment. Bull, I don't think a 1 bedroom would fit. So it cost me even more for a 6 X 12 trailer, I am going to have to fly back to SC to rent a small truck again and drive back down for the things I had to leave. I am VERY disappointed. I am a disabled veteran and have to pay people to help me, so this is costing more then a moving company at this rate.
I would not recommend the location because it wasn't close to our house. We got charged mileage for pick and drop off and we could've rented a U-Haul much closer to our location in Easley. I will not use online reservations before as it does not appear it is efficient in assigning locations for pick-up/drop-off.
