Towing is something that we all have the chance of doing in our lifetime — whether it’s taking the boat to the lake, pulling a car cross country or picking up building materials at the hardware store around the corner. A damage waiver is the most important part of any towing protection plan. If you do not take the plan, most companies will hold you personally responsible for any and all damages to the equipment and this payment is required immediately. So imagine getting into some sort of accident, losing your cargo, and then having to pay up right away — doesn’t sound like a good trip to me. Although the plan can’t alleviate the first two issues, being covered for damages to rented equipment is something you’ll want.
Medical and Life Protection
It is important to look for a plan that offers protection to not only the trailer, but the operator and passengers of the vehicle pulling it as well. Electing for a plan through the rental company is a one time charge — where as your personal medical insurance could add fees and other surcharges. In the case of an accident where someone is hurt, sometimes it’s best to take the path of least resistance.
Towed Property Protection
If you are towing the cargo, it’s more than likely that the cargo is important to you. Protecting the cargo or vehicle in the case of an auto transport is something you’ll want to make sure you do. A protection plan can make for a hassle-free claim in the event of an accident. Even with auto insurance on the vehicle, settling quickly and easily with the protection plan is easier than filing a claim with a private insurer.
