This shop was amazing, but super far out of the way in a little spot with no gas station. Nothing the owners can do to be better, they re amazing! Just not a great spot for quick moving.

This is for Uhaul and not their franchise contracted employees as helplessly imposed upon by Uhaul‘s self-serving business practices as their customers are. Reserved a 15 ft truck in Chico with a Ridgecrest drop off destination. Then, to my complete surprise, was told due to failed equipment delivery to this location, had to drive 20 miles up a winding mountain road to Forest Ranch to find only a 26 ft truck, twice the needed size, and twice the weight on fuel consumption. The time spent driving to both locations and going through formalities threw my work crew schedules off and ended up adding around 160 extra miles after working late into the night, and an extra day to get on the road. It also required driving a double-weight loaded truck up a mountain side to hook up car hauler and car. After driving 9 or 10 hours to drop off my load at my destination in Ridgecrest, again, to my complete surprise, Uhaul expected me to return, hook the car hauler and my car back up, and drive another hour and 100 hundred miles to deliver their car hauler to Lone Pine for them. In add to the $97 already charged for over-miles, plus my cost for fuel to deliver their equipment for them, and 2 hours of my time, plus my cost for fuel to drive my own vehicle back again, the additional $100 over-miles penalty Uhaul would have charged me to do this for them, was too insidious to consider. So Uhaul charged me another $106 “wrong drop off” penalty, instead. Had our original reserved Chico to Ridgecrest rental terms been held to as bilaterally agreed, 545 miles is a sight better than 669 miles and added fuel costs, further doubled by a truck that weighed 2 times more than the 15 ft I reserved, that resulted from Uhaul’s unilateral changes too ridiculously unreasonable to fathom. Then to add insult to injury, tell me to take on more expense and time likely exceeding legally allowed big rig driver time behind the wheel, to deliver your equipment, after you failed to deliver equipment to my reserved location, in add to the most untimely, disruptive, and highly over-costly worst moving experience full of unending surprises, that I’ve ever had. I was told to expect invoices and messages about my Uhaul reserved equipment, and received none, until the Ridgecrest Uhaul center emailed their invoiced add-on penalties. Forest Ranch added on another $135, again, to my complete surprise, two days after I’d paid rental charges was on the road. It’s only known because it showed up on my credit card bill, like a Uhaul feeding frenzy. Phone calls and messages still haven’t come back with explanation, or a single invoice. This move started out at an already stunning near $900 and before the nightmare was over, ballooned to more than $1,150 after fuel expenses, not including late-night work crew and added travel expenses. To improve, first ~ don’t settle bilaterally agreed reservation plans then later, to your customer’s surprise, unilaterally change the terms to whatever serves you best, at the added expense and inconvenience of your customers. Second, don’t involuntarily indenture your customers as your slave drone equipment delivery personnel, at their complete surprise and their own further expense. Finally, forcing a 10 or 11 hours behind the wheel under threat of penalty really isn’t a good look, to your potential next customers or those you carelessly endanger on the road.

It was a VERY convenient location for me, and the guys were great. The facility was not very neat or clean, but that didn't affect me service. If I was picking up there, I'd be a little suspicious if I didn't know the employees. I'd go back there, but a little organization in the office/inside would be good thing.
