A1 Rent All in Plainwell, MI is predatory. Stay away. I rented a U-Haul trailer on Saturday morning for $39 and was told it needed to be back early Sunday morning (despite them being closed from 5 Saturday until 8 Monday), and that I'd receive a text with after-hours instructions. When I clicked on the text it said it was expired and gave no further info. I brought the trailer back on Saturday evening and left it where I'd picked it up. I got an invoice Monday morning for $140. When I asked the reason I was told that I hadn't followed checkin procedures. The trailer was in place, required no cleaning, and cost the company no lost revenue. Why would a reasonable company that cared about its customers do this?STEVEN C.

Tried to charge me $14.18 for gas, saying it was at 3/4 a tank and now was under that. But it was already just under 3/4 a tank when i picked it up . i only drove 7 miles maybe just under that because how the gage works. And was charged for 10 miles. So how is 7 miles going to move your gas gage. Am i supose to stop and put $1.25 in gas for my 7 miles when i already payed for a 10 mile trip that took 7 miles.RONALD S.

I couldn't get the self return online to work. So I ended up getting charged the extra after hours charge. All the technology has benefits To those who are tech savvy, But to those who have simply rented our vehicles face to face customer service through the years-- more of a challenge. I had called A1 rental to ask about extending my rental time and the person I talked to stated I could keep the equipment for 24 hrs with no extra charge. I thanked him but did not know I had to do this online. When I checked the equipment back in after hours I was told I would have to pay the same amount again for a late check-in. I am going to call tomorrow and see if this can be resolved.PATRICIA H.
Stated that the â€œlow airâ€ alert for the left rear tire was â€œfine- doesn't really need airâ€ was not true. Needed to put air in tire twice during the 2day rental. Not specific to this location- turn process on a day that the site was closed turned out to be a goat rodeo. Couldn't get the app to provide code to check out. Spent at a minimum 25 minutes on the phone trying to drop off the van. Was FINALLY transferred to a wonderful gentleman by the name of Steve, who said, â€œHow about I close you out and you drop the keys in the box and be on your way?â€ Not sure why that couldn't have been done from the get-go! I am so dissatisfied right now. I needed to haul a car to the dump. About 30 miles round trip. I had to rent a truck and a trailer. I had it less than half a day. My total bill was $170. I only received $160 from scrapping the car. The truck has half a tank and I returned it with half a tank but still got a fuel charge. I got a $25 cleaning fee because, apparently, I had mud on my boots when I stepped back into the truck. I rent from this facility every few months. I was even going to rent a trailer form them on Saturday (tomorrow). I will drive all the way to Kalamazoo to rent from someone else. The supercenter there knows how to help customers out. The vendor is blaming the fee on U-Haul. If I could rent a trailer from anyone besides U-haul I would,Jonathan K.

It was the manager's 1st time with a U-Haul transaction. She did a great job! She kept her cool and powered through the snags to ultimately complete the transaction in a timely manner and get me on my way.Scott C.
I appreciated a verification call that I got from this location on the pick up. I didn't realize that they were closing shortly and was called to see if I was still intending to make the pick up. I would have ruined my weekend if I showed up and they were closed. The gentlemen helped me hook up the trailer and showed me how to unhook it when I was done. The trailer has some wood debris in it (bark), but was overall in good shape. I would recommend this location based upon the extra step of verification they took which demonstrates great customer service.william G.
